Matthew

Chapter 13
{The Parable of the Weeds in the Field Verses 24-30 - Explanation in verse 36-43}
13:24~~He {Jesus} gave them another of the same kind of parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like The Good Man {Jesus} Who sowed good seed {Tribulational believers} in His field."

{Note: The kingdom of heaven refers to born again believer during the time when Christ is absent from earth. The King is in heaven and the kingdom is on earth - can refer to either the Church Age and/or Tribulation.}

13:25~~"And while everyone was sleeping {ignorance of bible doctrine}, an enemy {Satan} came and sowed weeds {unbelievers} among the wheat and went away."

{Note: As this develops, we find that the unbelievers here refer to Tribulational unbelievers.}

13:26~~"When the plants sprouted and bore grain, then the weeds also appeared."

{Note: The believers of the Church Age must understand that they will always be living with unbelievers. This will remain the same until the Tribulation when the Church will meet the Lord in the sky. But then there will be new believers in the Tribulation still living with the unbelievers.}

13:27~~"So the slaves {doulos - slave/servant - angels} of the Farmer/Owner came and said to Him, 'Lord, didn't You sow good seed in your field? Then where did the weeds come from?' "

{Note: Verse 39 indicates the slaves here are angels. The wheat here is the 144,000 Jews who became believers in the Tribulation and became great evangelists for the Lord.}

13:28~~"He {Farmer} said, 'An enemy {Satan} has done this.' So the slaves replied, 'Do you want us to go and gather them?'"

{Note: The angels ask the Lord if they should not go assist the believers in the Tribulation. They are really being beat up by the unbelievers.}

13:29~~"But He said, 'No, since in gathering the weeds you may uproot the wheat with them."

{Note: Jesus tells the angels to leave the unbelievers alone. They will live with the believers. Jesus has provided for them until He returns to Earth - spiritual self-sufficiency. The wheat and the tares are closely intertwined.}

13:30~~"Let both grow together until the harvest {time of Judgment - following the 2nd Advent -the baptism of fire}. At harvest time I {Jesus/Farmer} will tell the reapers {angels}, "First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned, but then gather the wheat into my barn {millennial reign of Christ}.' "

{The Parable of the Mustard Seed - Apostasy in the Church Age. Narrative verses 31-32}
13:31~~He gave them another of the same kind of parable: "The kingdom of heaven {believers on Earth} is like a mustard seed {doctrine} that a man took and sowed in his field {teaching of doctrine}."

13:32~~"It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest garden plant and becomes a tree {doctrine sprouts and Churches cover the Earth like a great tree}, so that the birds of the sky come {emissaries of Satan -false teachers} and live in its branches {spreading false doctrine}."

{Note: These false teachers and 'in the branches of the tree'. This means that they are IDENTIFIED with the Church! But they teach cosmic doctrine instead of the Word of God.}

{The Parable of the Leaven - Apostasy in the Church Age. Narrative verses 33}
13:33~~He told them another of the same kind of parable, "The kingdom of heaven is like leaven/yeast {false doctrine in the Tribulation} that a woman {ecumenical religion of the Tribulation - 'The Great Whore' per KJV in Revelation 17: 1-15} took and hid in three measures {saton, a little over 16 pounds} of meal/flour until all the dough had risen {apostasy will take over and be thoroughly through-out at that time}."

{Note: Leaven always depicts evil in the bible - false doctrine here. 5 types of NT leaven: leaven of Herod-worldliness (Mk.8:15), leaven of the Sadducees-human viewpoint (Mk.16:6), leaven of the Pharisees-religion (Lk.12:1, Matt.16:6), leaven of Galatians-asceticism (Gal.5:9), leaven of Corinthians-licentiousness (1Cor.5:6-7)}

{Note: False doctrine is sowed to each of the three measures of flour: the first measure of flour is the church, the second measure is Gentile unbelievers in the tribulation, and the third is the Jewish unbelievers in the tribulation}

{The Purpose of Parables}
13:34~~Jesus spoke all these things in parables to the crowds; He did not speak to them without a parable.

13:35~~This fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet {Asaph in Psalm 78:2} saying: "I {Jesus} will open My mouth in parables, for the purpose that I {Jesus} will announce what has been hidden from the foundation of the world."

{Note: Asaph was the writer of Psalm 78:2, the son of Berikiah. A Levite in the family of Gershon and David's choir director.}

{The Parable of the Weeds in the Field Verses 24-30 -Explanation in verse 36-43}
13:36~~Then He {Jesus} left the crowds and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him and kept on saying, "Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field."

{Note: At this point they were not yet good students of doctrine. They could not match the doctrine to the parable yet.}

13:37~~He answered, "The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man."

13:38-39~~"The field is the world and the good seed are the people of the kingdom. The weeds/tares are the people of the evil one {in strong delusion}."

13:39~~"And the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the {Jewish} age, and the reapers are angels."

13:40~~"As the weeds are collected and burned with fire, so it will be at the end of the age."

13:41~~"The Son of Man will send His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all the stumbling blocks {unbelievers} as well as those who practice lawlessness {Rejection of Christ as Savior}."

{Note: The people who became believers in the Tribulation will remain on the earth at the end of the Tribulation. It is the Weeds who will be removed.}

13:42~~"They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

13:43~~"Then the righteous {those with the imputed righteousness of Christ - believers} will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. The one who has ears, listen!"

{The Parable of the Treasure}
13:44~~"The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure {the remnant
of believing Israel in the tribulation}, remained hid in the past with the result it remained hidden in a field {the World}, that a Man {Jesus} found and hid/protected it {protects the believers in the Tribulation} . . . and because of joy . . . He went and sold all that He had and bought that field {bought from the Slave Market of Sin - the treasure delivered by Christ at the 2nd Advent}. "

{Note: Treasure means that which is most important. All believers are first in the sight of God and He treats us that way.}

{Note: God's protection is described in Matt.24:14-27 for the first half of the tribulation. Then in the second half, the protection is described in Zack.14:1-4.}

{Note: Each regenerate Jew has been bought with a price. Because they have been purchased and redeemed, they are protected. Because they are protected, they are the treasure which will be delivered at the 2nd Advent.}

The Parable of the Pearl - Jewish order -start at the back and work forward!}
13:45~~"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a Merchant {Jesus} searching for fine pearls {Looking for believers in the Church Age}. "

{Note: The pearls are believers in Jesus Christ in the church Age and are of great value to God!}

13:46~~"Who, when He found a pearl of great value, He went out and sold everything He had and bought it."

{Note: The pearl is of great value. Each believer is of great value to God. A pearl is a complete unit, we are a complete unit because we are completed through union with Christ. The pearl is taken from the sea. The sea represents all nations {Rev.13}. A pearl is formed through suffering-as was the church. The pearl is purchased by selling "all that He had"-the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. The pearl is on display; we represent Jesus Christ to the world.}

{The Parable of the Net - Verses 47-50}
13:47~~"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net {evangelism in the Tribulation} that was cast into the sea {of nations} that caught every kind of fish."

{Note: The net is Tribulational evangelism in four waves: the 144,000 Jews of Rev.7 & 14, their converts, the two witnesses Moses and Elijah, and angels with the everlasting gospel.}

13:48~~"When it was full, they pulled it ashore, sat down, and put the good fish into containers and threw the bad away."

{Note: The good fish are believers going into the millenium. The bad fish are unbelievers of tribulation cast off.}

13:49~~"So, it will be this way at the end of the age {of Israel}. Angels will come and separate the evil from the righteous."

13:50~~"And throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be crying and gnashing of teeth."

{The Parable of the Household - Verses 51-52}
13:51~~"Have you understood ALL these things?" They replied, "Yes."

13:52~~Then He {Jesus} said to them, "Therefore every expert in the law who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like the house administrator {owner} who brings out of his treasure what is new and old."

{Note: The treasure is the Bible doctrine in the frontal lobe. The old is what the scribe learned as a student in seminary. The new is something he studied for himself after he graduated.}

{Conclusion}
13:53~~Now when Jesus finished these parables, He went away from there.

{Rejection of Jesus in Nazareth based on Class Distinction and Snobbery}
13:54~~Then He {Jesus} came to His hometown {Nazareth} and taught them in their synagogue. They were amazed and said, "Where did this Man get such wisdom and miraculous powers?"

13:55~~"Isn't He {Jesus} the carpenter's son? Isn't His mother called Mary? And aren't His brothers James and Joseph Jr. and Simon and Judas?"

13:56~~"And aren't all His {Jesus} sisters {at least two -plural} here with us? Where then did He get these things?"

13:57~~And they were offended {Snobs based on His background!}. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor {idiom - has honor everywhere except in His own back yard!} except in His own hometown and in His own house."

{Note: 'A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own back yard!' Familiarity breeds contempt!}

13:58~~And He {Jesus} did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.
