Ecclesiastes
Chapter
12
{Solomon
talks about someone reaching old age --for a person without
capacity, not very attractive proposition}
1~~Remember
your Creator in the days of your youth,
before
the days of trouble come.
And
the years arrive when you shall say,
'I
have no pleasure in them.'
{Note:
Solomon had no capacity to enjoy the vast privileges God gave him as
'blessings by association' from his father, David}
2~~
Before the sun {prosperity},
or
the light {doctrine},
or
the moon {right man, right woman},
or
the stars {various blessing from God}
or
the clouds return after the rain.
3~~
In the day of old age,
when
the keepers of the house {hands} tremble,
and
the men of strength {knees and feet} shall bow themselves,
and
the grinders {teeth} break down because they are few,
and
those that look out of the windows {eyes} be darkened.
4~~
When the doors to the street shall be shut
{Hebrew idiom for 'social life' over},
when
the sound of the grinding fades {digestion is bad},
and
he shall jump up at the chirp of a small bird {can not sleep},
and
all the daughters of music {ears} shall be brought low.
5~~
And when they shall be afraid of high places,
and
phobias of travel,
and
the almond tree
{enjoyment and capacity for life}
shall
be despised,
and
the grasshopper shall drag himself along
{Solomon also lost his physical strength in his old age},
and
{sexual} desire is no longer stirred,
then
man goes to his eternal home,
and
the mourners go around in the streets.
6~~
Now remember him before the silver cord {of life} is severed,
or
the golden bowl be broken {negative EEG},
before
the pitcher is shattered in the side of the well {negative EKG},
or
the wheel broken at the well {cardiac arrest (heart attack}.
7~~
Then the dust shall return to the earth as it was,
and
the spirit/breath {ruwach} {of life}
shall
return to God who gave it {God gives life}.
8~~
Meaningless . . . meaningless . . . everything is meaningless . . .
says
the man with the message.
9~~
Now, therefore,
because
the man with the message remembered doctrine
he
taught doctrine to the people
{Solomon wrote Ecclesiastes, Proverbs and the Song of Solomon}.
So
he considered {reception of doctrine}
and
sought out {retained doctrine}
and
set in order {recalled doctrine} many proverbs.
{Note:
Teach up a son right and when he is OLD he will return to doctrine.
Solomon is returning to doctrine in his old age.}
10~~
The man with the message {Solomon}
searched
to find just the right words . . .
and
to be writing with integrity the words of doctrine.
11~~
The doctrines of the wise
are
like goads
{motivation for perception of even more doctrine}.
And
these collected works
are
as 'firmly imbedded nails'
given
by one shepherd.
{the person who teaches and directs them}
12~~
Look,
all
of that academic life without doctrine becomes meaningless,
but
be warned, my son,
of
anything added to doctrine,
for
the making of many books {human viewpoint}
there
is no end
and
studying too much
{non-doctrinal academic learning}
is
worrisome to the flesh.
13~~All
has been heard,
here
is the conclusion of the matter:
Respect
{the authority of} 'Elohiym/Godhead,
and
keep His mandates . . .
for
this is the entire duty of man.
14~~
For 'Elohiym/Godhead shall bring all production to evaluation
{at the Judgment seat of Christ all 'works' will be judged} . . .
including
every hidden thing . . .
whether
it be absolute good
{related to doctrine/divine viewpoint} . . .
or
whether it be evil
{human viewpoint - Motus Operendi in the cosmic system}.
