I Samuel

Chapter 27

{Beginning of Real Trouble for David}
1~~And David kept thinking/"saying in his 'right lobe'/heart",
"I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul.
There is 'not good/'nothing better' for me
  {David is saying there is nothing good in what
  God has set up so I will try it my way! This is human
  viewpoint from self-pity, boredom, disillusionment,
  discouragement, and frustration or a combination
  of the above and is emotional revolt of the soul and
  reversionistic trends begin}
delivering myself . . . I shall deliver myself {malat malat}
  {David is tried of waiting on God so 'I" am going to solve my
  problem}
into the land of the Philistines.

Consequently, Saul shall 'desist from me' {stop going after me},
to 'search and destroy' me no more in any coast of Israel.
So I shall escape out of his hand.

{Note: Principal: making geographical or other changes to 'solve a problem', never solves the problem but usually creates new and bigger problems.}

{David Goes to Philistia to Get Security and Solve His own Problems}
2~~And David 'moved out'/arose
  {quwm - verb of action - made his decision and is now moving out},
and he crossed over
with the six hundred men
that were with him unto Achish,
the son of Maoch, king of Gath.

{Note: We saw Achish earlier where David feigned madness and Achish said I already have enough mad men on my staff why do I need another?}

3~~And David 'dwelt in prosperity/happiness' {yashab}
with Achish at Gath
  {Gath is a typical Greek city involved in the Phallic Cult - a party
  town Achish worshiped Neptune for example as all the Greek sea
  people did. To have a relationship with Achish, David is probably
  involved in idolatry here also},
he and his men,
every man with his household
  {maybe 3000 people total and the Large city absorbed this increase
  with no problem - so Gath is a big city},
even David with his two wives,
Ahinoam the Jezreelitess,
and Abigail the Carmelitess,
Nabal's wife.

{Note: Through association with the Phallic Cult, some of David's 600 men will get into idolatry also and become reversionists - and cause David more problems later.}

4~~And it was reported to Saul {intelligence report filed}
that David had fled to Gath.
And he 'added no more to seek him'/'no longer searched for him'.

{David in Reversionism Straps it on Achish}
5~~And David said unto Achish,
"If I have now been discovered/found
to have grace/favor in your eyes,
let them {the city state warlord counsel}
give me a place in some town in the country,
that I may dwell in prosperity there.
For why should your servant
dwell in peace/happiness/prosperity
in the royal city with you
  {implying it has been 'so wonderful' here, why should I be so
  privileged to be able to live here - in other words, David is
  strapping it on Achish}?"

{Note: RBT says David needs to move on to keep the dissension down from his 600 men and their families or they would be totally corrupted from the Phallic Cult and the ways of the Greeks. There are 5 Philistine city-states with 4 other warlords under Achish. So, there is a counsel that the others would need to approve the plan or there would be trouble. Gath was a truly great Greek city like Corinth or Troy in glamour. The Philistines were so powerful; the Egyptians did not march on Palestine, for example, because they were next to the Philistines. For David to get out from under the watchful eye of Achish, David strokes his ego. David does a great job and Achish lets him move on.}

6~~Therefore, Achish gave him {David}
Ziklag that day
therefore Ziklag has belonged
to the kings of Judah unto this day.

{Note: Ziklag was a beautiful place for a city on a high plateau. It was unoccupied at the time. There was a castle and you could see to the West the Mediterranean Sea, to the north were snow caped peaks of Mt. Herman, beautiful mountain ridges to the east, and to the south high country also very beautiful. Between Egypt and the Philistines and Israel was this country with three Arab pirate tribes - Philistia protected them - see verse 8. But because of these pirates, no one wanted to live in Ziklag - a castle type city - climate like Southern California.}

7~~And the number of days
that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines
was a full year and four months {16 months}.

{David Attacks the Three Arab Pirate Tribes}
8~~And David and his troops
kept on mounting attacks,
and plundering {pashat - steal, rape, torture, kill, enslave}
the Geshuri {from the city of Geshur},
and the Gezrites,
and the Amalekites . . .
for they {all three} were the inhabitants of the land
from ancient times,
as you come to Shur,
even as far as the land of Egypt.

{Note: Apparently David received an intelligence report that these three Arab tribes did not properly protect their cities because of their complete protection by Achish. So, David needs supplies for his 3000 mouths so he attacks them. David is building wealth in reversionism - the wrong way. Pashat is a nasty word. It means to steal wealth, rape women, and carry off slaves. David's men are out of hand right now.}

{David Acts in Reversionism}
9~~And David smote/slaughtered {nakah} the country,
and left neither man nor woman alive
  {ALL were wiped out who were there - even the children},
but collected and drove away
the sheep, and the oxen,
and the asses, and the camels,
and the 'clothing and jewelry' {beged}
  {so David killed the people - dead men tell no tales - and stole
  their wealth},
now he returned, and came to Achish
  {to lie about where his wealth came from}.

{Note: David in reversionism is no different from any unbeliever. He is first a liar to get what he wants - a city of his own. Then he quickly becomes the murder of women and children.}

{SideNote: RBT said God instructed Saul to whip out the Amalekites - in reversionism Saul refused. Now here, David in reversionism is wrong in wiping them out. Principal: it is not the 'act' that makes either evil (outside the plan of God). It is whether or not you are in fellowship and following the plan of God that makes the difference.}

{David Lies to Achish That He Attacked the Jews Instead of Achish's Allies}
10~~Now Achish said,
"Where have you made your raid today?"
  {Achish sees all the farm animals and wealth of David}
And David said,
"Against the south {negeb} of Judah,
and against the south {negeb} of the Jerahmeelites,
and against the south {negeb} of the Kenites
  {a tribe friendly to Judah}."

{Note: A good strap on artist needs to be smart, to have a good personality, good looks, a good voice, and lots of nerve. Principal: it is not the ugly ogre who will lie to your face, it is any unbeliever or any believer in reversionism - you cannot tell the difference between the two.}

{Note: Negeb an area of high altitude surrounded by mountains or seashore. Also means the south. David mentions three attacks, but gives the wrong tribes! David's 'Operation Strap-on Achish' continues. David is still a liar indicating his being out of fellowship.}

{Reason Given Why David Killed Everyone in His Raids}
11~~Consequently, David did not preserve alive
neither man nor woman,
to cause to bring information to Gath, saying,
  {the report of the now dead would have been:}
"Lest they report on us, saying {to King Achish},
This did David {to us}, and so will be his life style
  {against all Arabs}
all the while he {David} lived in prosperity
  {under the protection of Achish himself}
in the country of the Philistines."

{Achish Believes the Con Job}
12~~So Achish believed David, saying {thinking to himself},
"He {David} has caused himself
to stink among his people Israel
  {the Jews would hate David completely if he had done this}.
Therefore he shall be my servant forever."
