Matthew
Chapter
5 {Note: When Jesus saw the crowds were now too large, he took his disciples (12+) with him and taught THEM so they could teach others. In dealing with a large group, you should not try to do it all yourself.} 2~~ . . . and having opened His mouth . . . He {Jesus} kept on teaching, teaching, teaching {until they GOT it} communicating, . . . Note: In the Greek syntax, the verb form abruptly changes to emphasize the teaching teaching teaching! This was the important part of the sentence so far!}
{BEATITUDES:
Salvation First - Rest are for Believers Only and Progress} {Note: Makarios is the word for the happinesses from the ultimate source of the Lord. It is inner happiness and in Old English was translated blessed. It is a plural word and means all the happinesses inside of the person who is related to God only since this is sharing the happiness that belongs to God.} {Note: We are born spiritually dead. The kingdom of heaven is available to anyone willing to open the door. Jesus is the door. This is a salvation verse with the promise of eternal life in heaven to those who have Faith Alone in Christ Alone.}
{Beatitude
of suffering - Phase II blessing in time - to be happy in all
circumstances of life} {Note: Doctrine in your soul provides you with a defense against all suffering. Of the 11 reasons why a person suffers, only one is for discipline. The rest are for growth in your spiritual life.}
{Beatitude
of reward - Phase III blessing in eternity - progression continues} {Note: Praus sometimes translated meek is really a thought pattern that is a mental attitude oriented to the plan of God (Grace).} {Note: In this verse, Jesus, King of the Jews, is explaining to his disciples to go out to the Jews and explain to them that God's promise to them will be kept. Those who are truly Israel (born again) will inherit the land God promised to the Jews even though the King will depart in this advent.}
{Beatitude
of happinesses for the person positive to the intake of Bible doctrine} {Note: Dikaiosune is translated righteousness, but it really is much more then that in the Greek. It means to reach the total fulfillment of Spiritual Maturity, which can only come when your hunger for the truth is fulfilled by the daily intake of bible doctrine under a qualified pastor-teacher. One of the rewards in heaven is the crown of dikaiosune.}
7~~"Inner
happinesses to those who are related to God/ {Note: Grace depends on the character of the person. So take in doctrine and learn the divine viewpoint and develop grace in your soul and treat ALL people well because of who and what YOU are - even the people who HATE you! Do NOT react!}
{Beatitude
of Rebound - filling of the Holy Spirit- where the baby believer starts} {Note: No one will see God in time. But you can see/perceive God by studying the Mind of Christ -the Bible.}
{Beatitude
of reconciliation - a peacemaker - a witness for the Lord Jesus Christ} {Note: Eirenopoios is sometimes translated 'Peacemaker'. Eirene is normally the prosperity, which comes from God or 'inner peace'. Specifically here, eirenopoios refers to the peace between man and God or a part of salvation called the doctrine of reconciliation . . . man being reconciled with God - one the things Christ accomplished on the cross. A 'peacemaker' is an effective witness. He can accurately state the gospel to unbelievers. There are rewards in heaven for effective witnesses. When done under the filling of the Holy Spirit, this is gold, silver and precious stones - divine good and rewardable in heaven.} {Note: Huios is one of the Greek words for Children or sons.}
{Beatitude
of persecution - verses 10-12} {Note: These are the people who live their life primarily filled with the Holy Spirit, GAP it, and grow to spiritual maturity. They will demonstrate an RMA with inner happiness and are fulfilling their spiritual life. Others will be jealous and persecute them.}
11~~"Inner
happinesses to those who are related to God/ 12~~" . . .REJOICE {inner happiness} . . . and be exceeding glad {outer manifestation of inner happiness} . . . for great is your reward in heaven . . . for so persecuted they the prophets who were before you. " {Note: 'REJOICE . . . and be exceeding glad' - this is what 'blessed' really means.}
{Jesus'
Crash course to the disciples - how to live in the 3years of the
Public Ministry of the Lord - the end of this section of the Jewish
Age - many applications though to the Church Age - Verses 13-20}
{Principal of witnessing in this verse, 2 illustrations in verse 14,
and then the exhortation in verse 15} {Note: In the ancient world, salt had two uses. 1. It was a preservative. For example, if you salted your meat, it would not spoil (no refrigerators!). 2. It added flavor to the food. So in the analogy, all believers are the 'salt of the earth'. Many a nation has been spared from Divine destruction because of the believers in the land. And, by witnessing, you add savor/flavor to the society also.}
{Jesus'
two illustrations/examples} {Note: Jesus is the light of the world. Here He is delegating His authority to the disciples. Light is the Word of God - bible doctrine. They will become teachers of the Word - in context here is to assist Jesus in His three-year ministry. By extension, in the church Age, all believers are to be lights to the world as witnesses and ambassadors for Christ.} {Note: Darkness can not be seen on a mountain at night. But lights can be seen at night on that hill!} 15~~"Neither do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel basket {made of clay} . . . but on a lampstand. And it gives light unto all that are in the house."
{Jesus'
exhortation}
17a~~"Do
not assume/presume that I {Jesus}
17b~~I
am not come to nullify/abrogate/destroy {Note: Christians operate under a Higher Law - Spiritually - under the Filling of the Holy Spirit - live every day as unto the Lord.} {Note: Pleroo - to fulfil. His perfect life of 33 years fulfilled Codex number 1 of the Mosaic Law - the Moral code (10 Commandments) - Jesus lived up to it perfectly. Codex number 2 - the Christology in the Old Testament - Spiritual Code of the Mosaic Law - the lamb who would take away the sin of the world - our Passover will be sacrificed for us - all this Jesus fulfilled on the Cross with His Spiritual death. With the beginning of the Church Age and under the 5th cycle of discipline, the Jews are scattered and the Mosaic Law is abrogated. } {Note: The last part of the Mosaic Law is Codex 3. This provides the norms and standards for stability in any national entity. It includes free will (volition), marriage, and nationalism.}
{The
passing of the Law} {Note: Jesus is saying the Mosaic Law will stay in effect for the next three years until the cross is done. So this is for His disciples during the three years of Christ's ministry. The Mosaic Law included Shadow Christology of good things to come. It would not come until the cross and become something it was not before - reality.} 19~~"Whosoever {among the disciples in the next 3 years} therefore shall infringe on one of these least commandments {in the Mosaic Law}, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." {Note: Jesus says the Law is not yet fulfilled. You are under the Law until the cross has come. For the disciples in the 3 year ministry ONLY!}
{Message
for the one unsaved disciple - Judas Iscariot} {Note: Judas Iscariot is part of Jesus' audience right now and is a thief but a 'do-gooder'. He was a very self-righteous but you can not be saved by keeping the Mosaic Law - never could. Only salvation by Faith in Christ allows you to share the righteousness of Christ (+r) and entrance into heaven.}
{Jesus
amplifies the importance of the Mosaic Law for the disciples under
the Cross -verses 21-47} {Note: Both here and in the Old Testament, murder is a great sin. It is one of the seven of the greatest sins in the Eyes of the Lord (Proverbs 6:16). However there are times when 'killing' (not murder but killing) is not only justified, it is required - for example Capital Punishment and in Military Action on behalf of your country.}
{Amplification
of verse 21} {Note: Orgizo is a mental attitude of deep hatred or hostility because of pride or jealousy. It expressed itself by means of the tongue - maligning/slander/judging/false testimony. Produces mental attitude murder in context here.} {Note: The wages of sin is death. Without the salvation solution, even a mental attitude sin will condemn you to the lake of fire.} {Note: Racca was an Helenized Aramaic expletive roughly equivalent to 'bastard' or 'son of a bitch.'}
{Note:
Moros means to be mentally unstable (transliterated moron). It was
used by the unbelievers who said Christians were mental cases for
believing in Christ. It is their unbelief that will send them to
hell, then the lake of fire.} ************************************************ This page is sponsored by Kenneth Sidley, CPA, an Orange County California CPA (949) 706-3133.
