Psalms

Chapter 132

1a~~{Title}'A Psalm of David Going up the Steps of the Temple'
  {shiyr ma`alah - referring 'meditation for going into Church/Temple'
  - on each step, David would quote a verse, then move up to the
  next step - a step at a time
  it is literally translated 'A Song of Degrees for David'}

1b``O Jehovah/God, remember {with favor/grace} David . . .
and all his afflictions:

2``How he swore to Jehovah/God . . .
and vowed to the Mighty One {'abiyr} of Jacob.

3-5``I will not enter my house . . .
nor will I mount my bed . . . 4``
I will not give sleep to my eyes . . .
or slumber to my eyelids . . . 5``
until I find a place for Jehovah/God,
an abode for the Mighty One of Jacob.

6``We heard it was in Ephratah.

We found it in the region of Jaar.

7``Let us enter His abode . . .
bow at His footstool.

8``Advance, O Jehovah/God . . .
to your resting-place . . .
You and your mighty Ark!

9``Your priests are clothed in righteousness.

Your 'loyal ones'/saints sing for joy.

10``For the sake of your servant David,
do not reject Your anointed one.

11~~Jehovah/God has sworn to David
a doctrine/truth from which He will not turn back . . .
"Of the fruit of your body . . .
I will set upon your throne
  {God unconditionally promises the descendents of David will rule
  forever}.

12~~"If your sons will keep My covenant
and My doctrine that I shall teach them,
their sons {the interim dynasty before the 2nd Advent of Christ}
shall also sit upon your throne forever more.

13~~For Jehovah/God has chosen Zion.

He has desired it for His habitation.

14``This is My resting-place for all time.

Here I will dwell . . . for I desire it.

15``I will abundantly bless her store of food . . .
give its needy their fill of bread.

16``I will clothe her priests with safety { yesha`} . . .
and her 'loyal ones'/saints shall sing for joy.

17``There will I make a horn for David to sprout.
  {a horn is a symbol of authority for a King}

I have prepared a lamp for My anointed.

18``I will cloth his enemies in disgrace . . .
while on him {David} his crown shall sparkle.
