Psalms
Chapter
48
1a``{Title}
A Song and a Psalm { mizmowr}
for
the sons of Korah.
1b~~Great
is Jehovah/God.
And
greatly to be praised . . .
in
the city of our 'Elohiym/Godhead . . .
in
His Holy Mountain.
2~~Beautiful
in elevation
{referring to the high ridge surrounding Jerusalem} . . .
the
happiness/+H of the entire land
is
Mount Zion in the far north {northern end of Judah} . . .
the
city of the great King
{refers to David and later Jesus Christ in Millennium}.
3~~
'Elohiym/Godhead . . . in her {Jerusalem's} palaces
has
made Himself known as a castle/fortification.
4``See
the kings joined forces.
They
advanced together.
5``At
the mere sight of it they were stunned.
They
were terrified.
They
panicked.
6-7``They
were seized there with a trembling
like
a woman in the throes of labor 7``
as
the Tarshish fleet was wrecked
in
an easterly gale.
8``The
likes of what we heard
we
have now witnessed
in
the city of Jehovah/God of the armies/hosts . . .
in
the city of our 'Elohiym/Godhead . . .
Elohiym/Godhead
will establish it forever!
Selah
{Selah
means singers rest and instruments play on -
it is a picture of you resting while the Grace of God continues on}.
9~~
We have through your grace, O 'Elohiym/Godhead,
in
the middle of Your temple.
10~~As
is Your name, O 'Elohiym/Godhead,
so
is Your praise unto the ends of the earth.
Your
right hand is full of righteousness
{Jesus Christ is referred to as the Right Hand of God}.
11~~Let
Mount Zion be glad!
Let
the daughters of Judah rejoice
because
of Your justice!
12~~Walk
around Zion,
and
go round and count her towers.
13~~Consider
her battlements.
Go
through {the halls of} her palaces . . .
that
you may tell it to the next generation.
{Note:
In I Chronicles 11 we see that David took the great fortification of
the Jebusites who had held Mount Zion for over 400 years. He is
telling the people to pass the story on to future generations how
difficult the task was and to give the credit to the One Who caused
the great accomplishment - God!}
14~~For
this 'Elohiym/Godhead . . .
{is}
our 'Elohiym/Godhead
forever
and ever.
He
will be our guide . . . even unto death.
