Psalms

Chapter 63

{Psalm of Reverse Concentration}

{Note: See II Samuel 15:30. At the beginning of the Absalom revolution, David had to flee Jerusalem. Apparently this, and Psalm 3, is what he was thinking as he fled. This now is after David topped the Mount of Olives and is in the desert between the Mount of Olives and the fords of the Jordan River.}

{Verse 1: Occupation with God under Pressure and Application of the Essence of God Rationale}
1a~~{Title} A Psalm of David
when he was in the desert of Judah.

1b~~O 'Elohiym/Godhead . . . You are my 'El/God.

Early do I seek you.

My soul is thirsty for You.

My body longs for You in a dry and weary land,
where there is no water.

{Note: David has sent the Ark back to the tabernacle in Jerusalem. He is thirsty for physical water and the water he drinks in the tabernacle - the Water of the Word.}

2~~I have seen You in the tabernacle.

I went to see Your power and Your glory.

3~~For Your grace is better than life.

Therefore, my lips will praise You.

4~~I will praise You as long as I live.

I will lift up my hands in Your name.
  {this is the posture of prayer in this day - so is an idiom meaning he
  will be praying to God the rest of his life}

5~~My soul will be satisfied with Your 'rich food'.
  {idiom: literally 'Your marrow and fatness' - is an image of rich food
  at a party or banquet - physically David is hungry - spiritually
  David is well satisfied with the doctrine in his soul}

My lips will praise You.

6~~When in my bed, I remember You.
  {doctrine in application}

 I think of You during the night watches.
  {every two hours they change the guards - David would hear the
  commands}

7~~Because You have been my help,
I sing in the shadow of Your wings.

{Note: David recognizes he has taken all precautions by setting up guards in the bivouac at night but he recognizes human security is no replacement for divine security - Wall of fire principal.}

{Rationales of Reverse Concentration}
8~~My soul clings to You.

Your Right Hand sustains me.
  {David is guarded and protected by the Lord -
  this is the principal of the over-ruling will of Jesus Christ Who
  controls History}

{Note: A person divorced from reality would NOT post any guards at all. Notice that David did all that he humanly could and then recognizes that it now is left in the Hands of the Lord. David is in touch with reality.}

9~~They {the revolutionists} who seek my life/soul,
will be destroyed.

They will go down into the depths of the earth.

10~~They will be delivered to the sword.
  {David anticipates defeating the Absalom revolutionists}

They will become food for the jackals.

11~~But the king {David himself}
will rejoice in 'Elohiym/Godhead.

Every one who swears by him
  {the establishment force of David}
shall praise Him.

But the mouth of those who speak lies will be stopped.

{Note: The acrostic Psalm 25 comes from here. It is the prosperity of Humility psalm.}
