{Zion is a Reminder of Military Victory}
1a`` {Title} To the Chief Musician {natsach}
a taunting song {n@giynah}.

1b~~A Psalm {mizmowr} of Asaph.

{Note: Asaph was a prophet, musician and poet - see I Chronicles 6:39. He wrote the Psalms 50 and 73- 83 which is actually poetry.}

1c~~'Elohiym/Godhead is known in Judah.

1d~~His Name is great in Israel.

2~~His tabernacle is in Salem {means peace}.

And His dwelling place also is in Zion.

3~~There {in Zion}
He broke the flaming arrows
  {of the enemy},
the shield, and the swords,
and the
  {weapons of}
battle
  {belonging to the Jebusites}.

{Note: See I Chronicles 11. Good caused David to take Jerusalem from the Jebusites who had held it over 400 years. Principal: all freedom and nobility comes through military victory.}

Selah
  {Selah means singers rest and instruments play on -
  it is a picture of you resting while the Grace of God
  continues on}

4 You are more glorious and excellent
than the mountains of prey.

5 The stout-hearted are spoiled,
they have slept their sleep
and none of the men of might
have found their hands.

6 At your rebuke,
O 'Elohiym/Godhead of Jacob,
both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.

7 You, even You, are to be feared
and who may stand in Your sight
when once You are angry?

8 You did cause judgment
to be heard from heaven;
the earth feared, and was still,

9 When 'Elohiym/Godhead arose to judgment,
to save all the meek of the earth.

Selah.

10 Surely the wrath of man
shall praise You.

The remainder of wrath shall you restrain.

11 Vow, and pay unto Jehovah/God your 'Elohiym/Godhead.

Let all that be round about him
bring presents unto Him Who ought to be feared.

12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes.

He is terrible/awe-inspiring/respect-inspiring
to the kings of the earth.
