Revelation
Chapter
17
1~~Then
one of the seven angels
{the seventh pur sui vant messenger of the execution squad}
who
had the seventh bowl judgment
{literally 'seven bowl judgments' but means 7th},
came
and spoke with me {John} saying,
"Come
here. I will make known to you
-
to your advantage - the judgment
of
the 'infamous prostitute'/'great whore'/'infamous high-class call girl'
{the famous system of ecumenical religion in the Tribulation}
who
sits on many waters
{sitting on the water represents authority over the water - control
and domination.}"
{Note: Here water is used for people running around in a disorganized manner full of emotion. The water represents the people of the world who are converts to the ecumenical religious system. And, religion is analogous with a prostitute in that both serve the lustful needs of mankind in return for payment. Remember Christianity is not a religion. It is a relationship. A relationship that you can not earn and certainly can not pay for. Instead Christ paid for you on the cross.}.
2~~With
whom {the whore/ high-class call girl}
the
kings of the earth {world rulers} have fornicated
{spiritual unfaithfulness to Christ - via adherence to ecumenical
religion}.
Furthermore,
the inhabitants of the earth
have
become intoxicated
with
the wine of her {spiritual} fornication.
{Note: The bible must be interpreted based on events occurring at the time in which it was written. When the bible was written, the Phallic Cult was a prominent religion on the earth. It was a mixture of sex and worship. So, in the Phallic Cult the wicked one was unfaithful to the True God and their spouse if they were married. Double unfaithfulness.}
{Note: The masses may detest their national rulers, but what the aristocracy embraces, the masses usually want for themselves. So, here we see first that the world rulers fall for what appears to be a Phallic Cult type of mixture of religion and sex. And, then the masses follow them into evil.}
3~~Then
he {the seventh pur sui vant messenger
of the execution squad now acting as a teaching angel}
brought
me in the Spirit
{by means of God the Holy Spirit}
to
'a desolate place'
{eremos - means a desert, forest, mountain . . . but is more
accurately here a desolate place that works best with the analogy
- religion is a desolate place}.
And
I saw a woman
{she represents ecumenical religion of the Tribulation}
sitting
on a scarlet beast {therion}
{the color scarlet was the color of the Old Roman Empire -
here it represents the revived Roman empire of the Tribulation
sitting represents domination over - so here religion dominates the
empire. Examples in the past have been the Catholic Church in
the Dark Ages and the Islamic Arab countries today - religion
dominates the country and there is no freedom},
full
of blasphemous categories/names/reputations/titles
{onoma - means name or reputation. Here RBT says it represents
false doctrines},
having
seven heads
{represents the seven empires whose religion influenced Israel}
and
ten horns
{represents the ten nation confederation of the revived Roman
Empire}.
4~~Now
the woman {ecumenical religion of the Tribulation}
was
clothed with purple and scarlet
{the union of religion and state},
and
was glittering with gold {tremendous wealth}
and
precious stones {glamour, culture, and artifacts}
and
pearls {High class religion - appeals to aristocracy first}
{these represent the great wealth and glamour and class of religion
- rich in material things},
having
a golden drinking cup in her hand
{this is the 'cup of demons' - see also I Corinthians 10:20-21},
filled
with the abominations
and
impurities/'unclean activities' of her fornication {porneia}.
{Identification
of Ecumenical Religion of the Tribulation}
5~~Furthermore,
a name/title/'whore's label' {onoma}
has
been written on her forehead,
"Mystery
{musterion}, Babylon {a code name for Rome}
the
Great {ecumenical religion of the Tribulation}.
The
mother of prostitutes
{referring to the fact that Satan has been influential in starting
all 'world religions' since Satan became the ruler of this world
(Christianity is not a religion - it is a relationship with God
based on the Son's work on the cross}
and
the abominations of 'planet earth'
{the various evils of the phallic cult: demonism, idolatry,
fornication, human sacrifice}.
{Note: Onoma means name and is used for things like reputation and above as categories of things or doctrines. This use of onoma relates back to a custom of the Romans in the time the bible was written. Some women of the royal families were nymphomaniacs. But for a commoner to have sex with them was punishable by death. So the 'Johns' could tell the difference they made the 'common prostitutes' where their name on a label on their foreheads - usually along with the name of from where they originated. So here the whore has her name on her forehead.}
{Note: Musterion was a word that came from the fraternities of the Hellenistic Greeks. The secrets of the fraternity was told to the new member in the initiation process. Paul used it to describe all the Church Age doctrines that were not revealed to Old Testament believers - the Royal Priesthood, the indwelling of God the Holy Spirit, on and on. Here RBT says it is a reference to the counterfeit system of religion trying to replace the Divine Dynasphere designed by God and proto-typed by Jesus Christ in His 1st Incarnation.}
6~~
Then I saw the woman {ecumenical religion}
intoxicated
with the blood of the saints,
and
the blood of the witnesses {martus} for Jesus.
Now
when I {John} saw her I 'was greatly shocked'
{idiom: literally 'marveled with great marveling'}.
{Note: The Apostle John has seen a lot and had not been shocked. But when he sees how degenerate and evil religion in the Tribulation has become, he just can not believe it. But the teaching angel will bring him back to objectivity - why be surprised? Man always has been totally depraved.}
7~~Then
the angel said to me,
"Why
are you so shocked?
I
will communicate to you the mystery of the woman,
and
the beast {dictator} who carries her . . .
the
one who has the seven heads and the ten horns.
{Interpretation
of the Beast Begins (Concludes in Verse 11)}
8~~The
beast {the 1st beast dictator of the revived Roman empire}
that
you saw {John's vision - Revelation 13:1-10}
kept
on being {the Roman empire at the time of John}
and
absolutely is not {the fall of the Roman empire in 476 AD}
and
is about to come up out from the abyss
{the future revived Roman empire of the Tribulation}
and
then he will go to destruction
{the lake of fire, the judgment of the beast - Rev 19:20}.
{Next verse Indicates Good Press for the Beast Dictator}
In
fact, the inhabitants of the earth whose name
{the singular for the fact that each one has a chance}
has
absolutely not been written in the book of life
{unbelievers of the Tribulation - names blotted out of the book of
life}
from
the foundation of the world,
will
marvel/'stand in admiration' {thaumazo}
when
they see the beast dictator that was {in the past}
and
is not {as John wrote this}
and
yet he will exist
{in the future - the rise of the Roman empire in the future}.

9-10: Interpretations of the Seven Heads of the Beast}
9-10~~Here
is {hode - a change in the text topic}
the
mind/'faculty of thinking'
which
has and holds wisdom/'divine viewpoint'
{sophia - the application of doctrine to experience}.
The
seven heads keep on being seven mountains
{mountains usually represent national powers - RBT says this
represents seven nations where 'religion' has or will dominate their
politics: Past 5 nations: Egypt, Assyria, Babylonia -Chaldea,
Meade-Persia, Greco-Macedonia. Current at time of writing -
Historical Roman Empire. Prophetical at the time of writing -
Tribulational Revived Roman Empire},
on
which the woman
{religion ruling the nations - the analogy comes from the High
Priest of the Phallic Cult was very powerful and of tremendous
influence in the past}
sits
{in the saddle - picture of domination - Ecumenical Religion}. 10~~
Furthermore
they are seven kings {or dictatorships}.
Five
are fallen . . .
{Egypt, Assyria, Babylonia-Chaldea, Meade-Persia, Greco-
Macedonia},
one
is . . .
{Historical Roman Empire in 96 AD}
and
the other has not yet come
{Prophetical Tribulational Revived Roman Empire}.
Nevertheless,
when it comes {the revived Roman Empire}
it
must remain for a short time.
{Continuation
of Interpretation of the Beast - and Conclusion}
11~~And
so, the beast that was . . .
{the historical Roman empire at the time of John}
and
is not . . .
{referring to the fall of the historical Roman empire in 476 AD}
even
he {the Tribulational beast dictator} is the eighth . . .
{the dictator of the revived Roman empire}
and
is from the seventh . . .
{will rise from the revived Roman empire of the first half of the
Tribulation}
and
finally he will go to destruction
{see his destruction in the lake of fire at Revelation 19:20}.
{Note: The beast dictator of the revived Roman Empire accepts from Satan what Jesus Christ rejects - rulership of the world under the authority of Satan. This beast dictator and the 'False Prophet' or dictator of the Jews in the Tribulation will have the distinction of being the first to be tossed into the lake of fire without first experiencing physical death on earth. RBT says this will actually occur before the 1000 year reign of Christ so that also is unique.}
{Verses
12-13: Interpretations of the Ten Horns of the Beast}
12-13~~And
the ten horns
{ten-nation confederation of the revived Roman empire}
which
you saw are ten kings
who
have not yet received kingdoms,
but
they will receive authority 'one hour'/'a short time' {mia hora}
{not 60 minutes - but refers to the last half of the Tribulation}
with
the beast {dictator}. 13~~
These
{ten dictators} have one ideology/mind {gnome},
and
so they give their power {dunamis}
and
authority {exousia}
to
the beast {dictator}.
14~~These
{the beast and the 10 heads of states}
will
make war against the Lamb {Jesus Christ}
{the final conspiracy of history}.
But
the Lamb will conquer them because
He
is the Lord of lords, and King of kings
{the two victories of Jesus Christ - the strategic victory at the
cross and the tactical victory here}.
Furthermore,
those with Him are classified
as
invited
{all humans are invited/drawn to believe}
and
selected/chosen
{election to privilege - those who do believe are in the plan of God}
and
faithful
{winners in time - spiritually mature believers}.
{Note: The Royal Family will be at this battle, but only the Lamb will do the fighting. Just as on the cross, this victory He accomplishes alone.}
{Interpretation
of the Waters}
15~~Then
he {the 7th angel now the teaching angel}
said/communicated
{lego}
to
me {John},
"The
waters which you saw,
on
which the whore/'high class call girl' sits {meaning dominates},
are
peoples
{laos - meaning cultures - people set apart by their art, music, and
social customs of an area},
and
multitudes
{ochlos - meaning people by their race},
both
nations
{ethnos - meaning people separated by their political choices},
and
languages
{glossa - meaning people separated by their languages}.
{Verses
16-17: Interpretation of the Ten Horns Continued and Concluded And
the Evil Political Powers Destroy the Evil Religious
Powers}
16-17~~Both
the beast {dictator},
and
the ten horns which you saw,
will
{come to} despise/hate
the
whore/'high class call girl'.
They
will ruin her {eremoo}
and
cause her to be naked
{gumnos - stripped of her power and glamour},
they
will both devour her flesh {meaning kill her converts},
and
consume her with fire
{the evil political alliance will be used by God to destroy the evil
religious group}. 17~~
'For
because of' {the evil thinking of}
their
'right lobes'/hearts
{the evil thoughts in their norms and standards} . . .
He
{God} has permitted/'given {permission} to' {didomi} them
to
execute/do {poieo} His purpose
{God used the hostility of the political hierarchy of the revived
Roman empire to judge and destroy the ecumenical religious
system};
therefore,
to give their kingdom to the beast {dictator}
{each
of the ten come under full domination},
until
the doctrines from God
'shall
be fulfilled'/'are finished' {teleo}.
{Note: Initially the beast and the other heads of state will support the religion that dominates their countries. But eventually, they will come to hate the religion and destroy it and its supporters.}
{Interpretation
of the Woman}
18~~The
woman who you {John} saw
is
that great city
that
rules over the kings of the earth.
{Note: Babylon was the epi-center of false religion in the past. This center moved to Rome at the time the bible was written and 'Babylon' was used for Rome. This is another reference to the fact that the world religion that will rise in the Tribulation will be centered in Rome.}
