Chapter 15
{Function of the Royal Family Honor Code}
{Verses 1-12: Maturity Function of the Royal Family Honor Code}
{Exhortation for the Strong to Help the Weak}
1~~Now we, the strong {dunatos}
  {see Chapter 14:1 for the context- this is the 'strong in doctrine'
  or 'mature believers'},
are obligated {under the Royal Family honor code} {opheilo}
to keep on bearing {bastazo}
the weaknesses {astheneia}
of the weak {adunatos}
  {see Chapter 14:1 for the context- this is the 'weak in doctrine' or
  'baby believers' but the syntax here indicates this is a baby
  believer who is positive to the intake of the Word and will
  eventually grow - don't hinder their growth},
and not to accommodate/'strive to please' {aresko} ourselves.

{Note: This is the 'Law of Love' overruling the 'Law of Liberty'. Under the law of liberty, the mature believer has a right to eat what he wants or do what he wants based on the doctrine resident in HIS soul. But out of concern for the growth of the baby believer, he adopts the 'Law of Love' and refrains from eating in front of that baby if this hinders the baby in any way. This is NOT hypocrisy as other 'weak in doctrine' believers might think! haha}

{Principal of Sensitivity Under the Honor Code}
2~~Let each one of us {mature believers}
accommodate/'strive to please' {aresko}
his neighbor/'those to whom you have contact' {plesion}
for the purpose of the good {eis agathos} . . .
  {'the good' here is the weak believer's momentum in advancing to
  spiritual maturity}
to the edification {complex} {pros oikodome}
  {spiritual maturity is when you have developed an edification
  complex in the soul - a structure of doctrines upon doctrine until
  you have developed divine viewpoint in your soul}.

{Note: This is the principal of common courtesy. Being sensitive to the feelings of weaker in doctrine believers who need a little understanding so they can grow spiritually.}

3~~For even the Christ
did not accommodate/'strive to please' {aresko} Himself
  {Christ came to the earth to please God the Father and
  to accommodate all mankind},
but as it stands written
- in the past with results that last forever {Psalms 69:9} -
"the 'blasphemous insults' {oneidismos}
of those who insulted {oneidizo} You {God the Father},
fell on {epi} Me {Christ on the cross}."

{Note: All sins are an insult to God - they are a volitional thought or action to go against the will of God. And all sins of the world fell of Jesus Christ on the cross and were judged.}

4~~For {explanation} as many things
that have been "written before/'in former times' " {prographo}
  {referring to the Old Testament Scriptures as Paul just quoted in
  verse 3}
for our {Church Age believers also}
instruction/teaching/inculcation {didaskalia},
were written in order that
  {final purpose clause to follow}
we through perseverance/'patient endurance' {hupomone}
and through encouragement/comfort {paraklesis} of the scriptures
we may have and hold {echo}
'absolute confidence'/hope {elpis}.

{Note: Paul specifically states that the Old Testament teachings are still for our study and edification in the Church Age.}

{Function of the Mental Attitude in the Royal Honor Code}
5~~Now may {Paul's desire but he can not force us}
the God of 'patient endurance' {hupomone}
and {the God of} encouragement/comfort {paraklesis}
give {didomi} to you
'to be thinking the same category of things' {phroneo}
  {the blending of purpose and result - not exactly the same
  thoughts but thinking the same 'divine' viewpoint as they have
  metabolized into their own soul}
in the presence of one another of the same kind {allelon}
according to Christ Jesus
  {means according to His norms and standards - the standards of
  divine viewpoint}.

{Objective from Verse 5}
6~~In order that {hina + subjunctive = a purpose clause}
those of one motivation/mind/objective/purpose {homothumadon}
  {the same motivation - to grow to spiritual maturity}
by one message/'doctrinal teaching'
  {stoma - idiom literally 'by one mouth' - but it means bible doctrines
  as THE message of God}
may glorify the God
even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ
  {Lord=deity; Jesus=humanity; Christ= one of His titles - The
  Anointed/Appointed One}.

{Reciprocity Application of the Honor Code}
7~~Therefore
  {dio - meaning the following is a self-evident inference},
be receiving/'accepting as a companion'
  {see Romans 14:1 - proslambano repeated again here - a continual
  process}
one another of the same kind {allelon} . . .
just/even as the Christ
has received/'accepted as a companion' {proslambano}
us {at the moment of salvation} . . .
'for the purpose of' {eis} the glory of God.

{Note: This is the objective. Jesus accepted us - knowing just what sinners we all are. Therefore, in the same manner, we should accept each other.}

{Jesus as Minister to the Jews}
8-9~~For/Consequently {gar},
I {Paul} report that Christ
has become a minister/deacon/servant {diakonos}
to the Jews {idiom: peritome - literally the 'circumcision'}
'on behalf of' {huper} the Truth/Doctrine {aletheia} of God . . .
to establish/confirm {bebaioo}
the promises {epaggelia} to the fathers
  {Old Testament writers and prophets who received bits and pieces
  of the four unconditional covenants which have yet to be fulfilled
  including the Abrahamic Covenant - includes a new race, Jews,
  and new nation, Israel, see Genesis 12:1-3; and real estate in
  Genesis 13 and 15; and the heavenly city of Revelation 21 and
  Hebrew 11:8-10.} . . .

{Verses 9-12: Christ as Minister to the Gentiles}
9~~and that the gentiles {ethnos}
might glorify the God {Jesus Christ}
for His mercy/'grace in action' {eleos}.
Just as it stands written {Psalm 18:49},
"Because of this {imputed blessing, deliverance, promotion of David},
I {King David} will praise/acknowledge/celebrate You {God}
among the Gentiles {ethnos},
and I will 'sing praises/hymns'
  {psallo - to sing accompanied by musical instruments}
to Your Person/Name/Reputation {onoma}."

10~~And again {kai palin - means next in a continuing list}
it says {Deuteronomy 32:43},
"Rejoice, {euphraino - is an unusual word for rejoice - means to
  have rational stimulation not emotional or an emotional response
  to a rational concept.}
O Gentiles, with His {God's} people."

11~~And again {kai palin} {Psalm 117:1},
"Praise {aineo} the Lord all you Gentiles
  {an expression of Occupation with Christ via worship},
and applaud/laud {epaineo} Him
all you people."

{Note: Aineo means to praise or celebrate. For this form of praise you need to know little besides the event that happened, for example praise a runner for making a 99 yard touchdown. For epaineo/lauding, you need to know the history of the runner, his family background, his training. It is a word of praise with knowledge of the object of the praise. So here it starts with all believers, then moves to mature believers who KNOW and understand God for the study of His Word.}

12~~And again {kai palin}
Isaiah says/communicates {Isaiah 11:10},
"There shall be the root/'root sprout' {rhiza} from Jesse
  {Jesus Christ was a descendent of David and therefore a
  descendent of Jesse also},
even He Who shall rise up
  {anistemi - to come on the scene historically and bodily resurrection
  - both are true}
to rule {archo} over the Gentiles.
In Him shall the Gentiles
'have absolute confidence'/hope {elpizo - Attic Greek future tense}
  {Classical Greek is used here to honor the Great Spiritually Mature
  Gentile believers here}."

{Note: One reason for the Resurrection is mentioned here. Christ rose to rule over the Gentiles also. The passage is discussing the rise of Jesus Christ in the Tribulation to rule for 1000 years over believing genetic Jews and Gentiles alike.}

{Verses 13-15: Parenthetical Paragraph - 3 Principals of Momentum in Advancing to Maturity}
13~~Now may the God
of the 'absolute confidence'/hope {elpis}
fill {pleroo} you
with all {categories of} happiness {chara}
and prosperity/'inner peace {eirene}
by means of the believing {pisteuo}
  {the function of GAP - faith is the method by which doctrine is
  transferred from the Written Word, thru the nous/'left lobe of the
  brain' where it can be metabolized in the kardia/'right lobe of the
  brain' if you accept it as Truth - then it can be used in life's
  experiences} ,
for the purpose that you may excel/abound {perisseuo}
in the 'absolute confidence'/hope {elpis}
  {this is the Hope II of advancing to spiritual maturity
  (hope I was salvation and Hope III everlasting life)}
by means of the power { dunamis} of the Holy Spirit
  {the ministry of God the Holy Spirit in making doctrine real to
  Church Age believers}.

{Paul's Motivation for Writing the Letter}
14~~In fact, I {Paul} am convinced
my brethren {adelphos},
even I myself concerning you
that you yourselves are/'keep on being'
full of goodness/'goodness in the sense of doctrine
producing integrity' {agathosune}
  {doctrine in the soul producing the Royal Family Honor Code
  function},
having been filled with all knowledge/thinking {gnosis}
  {gnosis - the non-technical use as the characteristic of God},
  {consistent and persistent intake of bible doctrine}
also being able to 'put into the mind of another a correct thought'/
instruct/'impart understanding'/'have a corrective influence'
  {noutheteo}
one another of the same kind {allelon - fellow believers here}.

{Note: Dikaisune is the state of being filled with righteousness and justice. RBT defines it as the 'total fulfillment of spiritual maturity. Now we have agathosune. Agathos is 'good of intrinsic value'. The sune suffix means to be in the state of being filled. So here we have a word for the believers who have doctrine resident in their souls. From that doctrine is produced virtue from applying the Royal honor code. That is the 'goodness' in this verse.}

15-16~~In fact, I {Paul} have written
you 'more boldly'/'with greater audacity'/
'with greater alertness' {tolmeroteron}

in such a way to remind you again . . .
because of that grace
  {here referring to Paul's spiritual communication gift he received by
  Grace}
which has been given to me by {hupo} the God 16~~
that I {Paul} should be a minister {leitourgos} of Christ Jesus
to the Gentiles . . .
'ministering like a priest' {hierourgeo}
  {used for a priest using props to perform sacred rites -
  like in animal sacrifice}
the gospel/'good news' {euaggelion} of God,
that the 'offering consisting of the Gentiles' {prosphora ethnos}
might have become acceptable,
having been sanctified/'set apart by God' {hagiazo}
by the Holy Spirit
  {meaning by the baptism of the Holy Spirit
  at the point of salvation at the point of salvation}.

{Note: This was written by Paul at the end of the rule of the Claudio Julian Caesars. They would have 10 more years on Caesar's throne (ending in 68 A.D). This verse is the turning point of history and the change of the spiritual thrust from the Jews to the Gentiles. First notice of the change in thrust - now the dispensation of the Gentiles - Jews are not excluded, but emphasis is on Gentiles now.}
