10 - God's Blessing on a Nation}
1~~Ask
you from Jehovah/God . . . rain,
{a command to pray}
in
the time of the latter rain
{idiom meaning to pray for economic prosperity},
so
Jehovah/God shall make/manufacture {'asah}
lightenings
{warning of the rain}
and
give them showers of rain
{resulting in good harvests},
to
every one . . . grass/growth in the field
{everyone is benefited when the crop comes in
so in context, this is a prayer for national prosperity}.
{Note:
There were two kinds of rain in the agricultural cycle of the Jews.
The first they called the "early" or the "former"
rain, and this came down after the planting. The latter rain, which
we have here, came down before the harvest to guarantee a good crop.
So this is
a
good crop prayer. Only a believer with doctrine in their soul would
understand that it is proper to PRAY for prosperity - here for the
nation and also for the individual! Most believers are so confused
they think it 'not humble' to have wealth and this is a distortion of
the Word. 'Humble' is a mental attitude. It means to understand how
insignificant YOU are compared to ALL that God is! That is true humility.}
2~~For
the 'figurine type small idols' {t@raphiym}
{this is in contrast to the huge statues - this you can hold in your
hand - images in human forms depicting false gods. The purpose
was to supposedly bring prosperity to the owner.}
have
spoken nothingness/emptiness {'aven},
and
the soothsayers have 'seen' a lie {sheqer}
{this soothsayer typically in the bible 'read arrows', 'read entrails'
or asked t@raphiym for answers - they were fakers or demon
possessed},
and
have 'communicated {false} doctrine' {dabar}.
Their
comfort is empty
therefore
they went their way {into captivity}
as
a flock, they were troubled, because there was no shepherd
{no spiritual leadership - so were confused and troubled like
a flock of sheep without a shepherd}.
{Note:
How do we stay out of the grace bracket? How do we stay out of the
marvelous thing that is described in verse 1? Get into idolatry,
false doctrine, and the status of confused people with no leadership
- the three factors of verse two. Idolatry is the devil's communion
table. So behind the devil's communion table is the
devil's
doctrine. And then when false doctrine prevails you have confusion.
This is referring to people who are asking for rain from false idols
instead of God.}
3~~My
anger {divine judgement}
was
kindled against the shepherds
{'shepherds' are spiritual leaders in Judah after 516 BC.
They were the false teachers. They were on negative volition
toward God's Word},
and
I will punish the goats
{goats refers to those unbelievers who oppress Israel.
Believers are called 'sheep' - believers hear the call
of their Great Shepherd - Jesus Christ}
for
Jehovah/God of the armies/hosts
has
'visited {with blessings}' {paqad}
His
flock . . . the house of Judah,
and
has made them
like
His 'majestic charger'/'war horse' in the battle
{referring to the strong believers - the Maccabeens who become
God's war horse and drive out Antiochus Epiphanies in 164BC -
from December 25, 164BC to January 1, 163BC was one of the
most glorious celebrations every - the feast of lights - Jerusalem
was all lighted up}.
{Verse
4 - Source of Blessing and Discipline}
4~~Out
of Him {God the Father - author of the Divine Plan} . . .
came
forth the corner
{Jesus Christ, the cornerstone, the promise of God's grace in
Salvation},
out
of Him . . . {came forth} the 'wooden peg'/nail
{The wooden peg is a picture of putting everything your life in
His hands ie the faith-rest technique. It also connotes assurance
based on Bible doctrine - confidence with regard to the will/plan
of God. A nail is something upon which you 'hang' 'something of
value'. First: Salvation, Next: Doctrine.}
out
of Him . . . {came forth} the battle bow
{First: Salvation, Second: Doctrine, Third: Action. This is the
proper order of things for ALL believers. Unbelievers can not
understand God's plan. Next, you can not operate in God's plan
without understanding God's plan first - so study! Finally, is the
action. In
context, the action here is driving out Antiochus Epiphanies}
out
of Him . . . {came forth} every oppressor together.
{Prophecy
of the Tribulation Latter Half}
5~~And
they shall be as mighty men
{personal courage in battle and proper use of their weapons
see also Revelation 16:13-16 and Zechariah 14},
and
'kill effectively and efficiently' in the battle
{idiom: literally: 'which tread down their enemies in the mire of
the streets'}
and
they shall fight
{in the first half of the Tribulation the command is to flee
to the mountains and not to fight. But the last half the
command is to fight},
because
Jehovah/God is with them
{Believers in the Jewish Age are said to have God 'with' them -
in the Church Age, believers are said to have God 'in' them
claiming the promises of Isaiah 41:10 and Deuteronomy 31:6,8},
and
the riders on horses {speaks of mobile forces}
shall
be confused
{the supernatural darkness in which the Lord comes will cause
confusion}.
6~~And
I will strengthen the house of Judah {Southern Kingdom}
{"I will strengthen" is a piel perfect. The piel stem
means I will
give the mental attitude necessary for the catastrophe. The
piel stem is intensive and it has to do here with intensive
thinking or concentration. To have this concentration there
has to be Bible doctrine in the mentality and then there has to
be the ability to apply it under pressure. To apply it under
pressure you have to be up on your techniques for doing
so. It all adds up to a person who can think clearly under
maximum disaster.}
and
I will save the house of Joseph
{the Northern Kingdom, the ten northern tribes},
and
I will cause them
to
'dwell in a place of blessing' {yashab}.
For
I have mercy/'grace in action'
{racham - piel stem - intensive}
upon
them
and
they shall be as though I had not cast them off
{the 5th cycle of discipline ends at the 2nd Advent of Christ}
for
I am Jehovah/God their 'Elohiym/Godhead,
and
will hear them {`anah}.
7~~And
they of Ephraim
{Ephraim is one of the sons of Joseph - his name is also used
sometimes for the Northern Kingdom - here is it used here for
'cowards' see Psalm 78:9}
shall
be like a mighty man,
and
their heart/'right lobe' shall rejoice
'as
through wine'
{this is an analogy - the same as we have in Ephesians 5:18
where it says 'be not drunk with wine' - this is NOT drunkenness
something on the inside changes the overt actions - this is an
idiom for doctrine in your right lobe turning a coward to a hero}.
Yes,
their children shall see it, and be glad
{heroes save their families - families of cowards die or go into
slavery}.
Their
heart/'right lobe'
shall
rejoice in Jehovah/God.
{Verses
8-11: Regathering of the Jews at 2nd Advent}
8~~I
will whistle for them
{Christ calling them back},
and
gather them;
for
I have redeemed them
{the believers - the wheat will stay - the tares (unbelievers)
will be cast off only believers go into a new civilization - here
the Millennium}
and
they shall increase 'as they never have before'
{idiom: literally 'as they have increased'}.
{Retrospective
verse - Answers Why did Christ Whistle for them?
Because they are scattered under the 5th Cycle}
9~~And
I will sow them among the people
{Jews are scattered under the 5th cycle of discipline}
and
they shall remember Me in far countries;
and
they shall live with their children,
and
come again.
10~~I
will bring them again
also
out of the land of Egypt
{analogy to the Exodus Generation - will gather the Jews again},
and
gather them out of Assyria
{analogy to 721BC when the 10 Northern Tribes went out};
and
I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon
{all these lands will eventually belong to the Jews}
and
place shall not be found for them
{idiom for a large population explosion in the Millennium}.
11~~And
he {the returning Jew}
shall
pass through the 'sea of affliction'
{the faithfulness of the Lord will get them through the Tribulation},
and
shall smite the waves in the sea,
and
all the deeps of the river shall dry up
and
the pride of Assyria shall be brought down,
and
the scepter of Egypt shall depart away
{no nation or obstacle in nature will hinder the regathering of the
Jews}.
{Restoration
of the Jews Complete in the Millennium}
12~~And
I will strengthen them in Jehovah/God;
and
they shall walk up and down in His Name,
said
Jehovah/God.
