Leviticus
Chapter
21
{Verses
1-15: Rules for Levitical Priests to Follow}
1
And Jehovah/God said unto Moses,
Speak
unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them,
There
shall none be defiled for the dead among his people.
2
But for his kin, that is near unto him,
that
is, for his mother, and for his father,
and
for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother, 3
and
for his sister a virgin, that is near unto him,
which
has had no husband . . .
for
her may he be defiled.
4
But he shall not defile himself,
being
a chief man among his people,
to
profane himself.
5
They shall not make baldness upon their head,
neither
shall they shave off the corner of their beard,
nor
make any cuttings in their flesh.
6
They shall be holy unto their 'Elohiym/Godhead,
and
not profane the name of their 'Elohiym/Godhead.
For
the offerings of Jehovah/God made by fire,
and
the bread of their 'Elohiym/Godhead,
they
do offer.
Therefore
they shall be holy.
7
They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane.
Neither
shall they take a woman
put
away from her husband.
For
he is holy unto his 'Elohiym/Godhead.
8
You shall sanctify him therefore;
for
he offers the bread of your 'Elohiym/Godhead.
He
shall be holy unto you.
For
I Jehovah/God, Who sanctify you, am holy.
9
And the daughter of any priest,
if
she profane herself by playing the whore,
she
profanes her father.
She
shall be burnt with fire.
{Verses
10-15: Rules for the High Priest}
10
And he who is the high priest among his brethren,
upon
whose head the anointing oil was poured,
and
that is consecrated to put on the garments,
shall
not uncover his head, nor rend his clothes.11
Neither
shall he {the High Priest}
go
in to any dead body,
nor
defile himself for his father, or for his mother.12
Neither
shall he{the High Priest}
go
out of the sanctuary,
nor
profane the sanctuary of his 'Elohiym/Godhead;
for
the crown of the anointing oil
of
his 'Elohiym/Godhead is upon him.
I
am Jehovah/God. 13
And
he {the High Priest}
shall
take a wife in her virginity. 14
A
widow, or a divorced woman,
or
profane, or an harlot,
these
shall he{the High Priest}
not
take.
But
he {the High Priest}
shall
take a virgin of his own people to wife. 15
Neither
shall he {the High Priest}
profane
his seed among his people.
For
I Jehovah/God do sanctify him.
{Verses
16-24: Physical Qualifications to be a Levitical Priest}
16
And Jehovah/God spoke/'communicated doctrine categorically'
{dabar - Piel intensive stem}
unto
Moses, saying,
{in
Jewish Age - Disqualification to Function of the Priesthood}
17~~Speak
unto Aaron, saying,
Whosoever
he be of your seed in their generations
{all the way down the line}
that
has any blemish,
let
him not approach to offer the bread of his {the High Priest}.
{Note:
In Hebrews we learn that the Church Age universal priesthood of the
believer in Christ is due to his 'spiritual perfection' (God's
righteousness imputed in him). This priesthood was superior to the
Levitical priesthood that was based on 'physical perfection' - as we
will continue to see in this section of the Word.}
18-20~~For
whatsoever man he be that has a blemish,
he
shall not approach.
A
blind man, or a lame,
or
he who has a flat nose {facial deformity},
or
deformed legs, 19~~
or
a man that is broken-footed
{improperly healed foot making him not walk properly - no limping},
or
broken-handed, 20~~
or
crook-backed {hunchbacked},
or
a dwarf,
or
one who has a defect in his eye,
or
have eczema ,
or
scabbed {skin blemishes},
or
has his testicles crushed
{damaged testicles/represents no intestinal fortitude}.
21~~
No man who has a blemish . . .
of
the seed of Aaron, the priest,
shall
come near to offer the offerings of Jehovah/God
made
by fire.
For
he is disqualified . . .
he
shall not come near to offer the bread of his.
22
He shall eat the bread of his 'Elohiym/Godhead,
both
of the Most Holy
{the inner area - 'Holy of Holies'},
and
of the holy {outer area}.
23
Only he shall not go in unto the veil,
nor
come near unto the altar,
because
he has a blemish;
that
he profane not My sanctuaries.
For
I Jehovah/God do sanctify them.
24
And Moses told it unto Aaron, and to his sons,
and
unto all the children of Israel.
