Nahum Chapter 1 1 The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite. {Note. See Zechariah 1.21. Assyria had its 'horn cut off' in 612 BC. The first horn cutter was Nabopolasser, the father of Nebuchadnezzar - a Chaldean who teamed up with the king of Media (Sigh - Axe- er - ees (sp)). Nineveh was the capital of Assyria.} 2 'El/God is zealous. And Jehovah/God is punishing.
Jehovah/God
is punishing
Jehovah/God
in punishing on His adversaries,
3
Jehovah/God is slow to anger . . .
Jehovah/God
has His Way
4
He rebukes the sea,
Bashan
languishes,
5
The mountains quake at Him, Yes . . . the world, and all who dwell therein. 6 Who can stand before His indignation? And who can abide in the fierceness of His anger?
His
fury is poured out like fire,
7
Jehovah/God is good . . . And he knows those who trust in Him.
8
But with an overrunning flood 9 What do you imagine against Jehovah/God? He will make an utter end. Affliction shall not rise up the second time.
10
For while they be folded together as thorns,
11~~From
you have advanced {Note: Similar to how some people call very mature believers 'SuperGrace believers', Satan has so saturated these people with his evil polices that they are called here 'policy-makers of Belial' and elsewhere they are called SOB's - Sons of Belial'}.
12
Thus said Jehovah/God, Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more. 13
For
now I will break his yoke from off you,
And
Jehovah/God has given a commandment concerning you,
Out
of the house of your 'elohiym/gods I will make your grave . . . for you are vile. 15
Behold
upon the mountains . . .
O
Judah, For the wicked shall no more pass through you. He is utterly cut off."
