Ruth
Chapter
4 And, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spoke came by.
Unto
whom he said, Turn aside, sit down here." And he turned aside, and sat down.
2``
And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, And they sat down.
3``And
he said unto the kinsman,
4``
"And I thought to advise you, saying, If you will redeem it, redeem it. But if you will not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know. For there is no one to redeem it beside you. And I am after you {to do it}." And he said, "I will redeem it." 5``Then said Boaz,
"What
day you buy the field of the hand of Naomi,
6``And
the kinsman said,
Redeem
you my right to yourself
7``Now
this was the manner in former time in Israel
For
to confirm all things, And this was a testimony in Israel.
8``Therefore
the kinsman said unto Boaz, So he drew off his shoe.
{Boaz
Uses the Law of Posterity - See Genesis 38:8} {Note: These three men had died without male heirs. So, their land was subject to forfeiture.}
10~~
"Moreover Ruth, the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon,
11``And
all the people who were in the gate, and the elders, said,
Jehovah/God
make the woman who is come into your house
And
do you worthily in Ephratah,
12``And
let your house be like the house of Pharez,
13``So
Boaz took Ruth,
And
when he went in unto her,
14~~And
the women said unto Naomi, {Note: David was famous in Israel because he was a humble and faithful man - he never touched the glory of God. All the glory was the Lord's. He was always Grace Oriented.}
15``And
he shall be unto you a restorer of your life,
For
your daughter in law, who loves you,
16``
And Naomi took the child,
17~~And
the women, her neighbors, And they called his name Obed. He is the father of Jesse . . . {and Jesse is} the father of David. {Note: so in Israel we have apostasy and lawlessness. But while all this evil was going on, something fabulous was happening in Moab - the line that would bring David and Jesus into the world was continuing.}
18-22~~
Now these are the generations of Pharez: And Hezron begat Ram. And Ram begat Amminadab. 20~~ And Amminadab begat Nahshon.
And
Nahshon begat Salmon
And
Salmon begat Boaz And Boaz begat Obed. 22~~ And Obed begat Jesse. And Jesse begat David. {Note: At the end of Judges (21:25) we have . . . 'and there was no king in the land'. Now we have ' . . . and Jesse begat David'. God is turning the cursing of Judges Chapters 19, 20 and 21 to blessing.}
