I Samuel

Chapter 15
1~~Samuel also said to Saul,
"Jehovah/God sent me to anoint you to be king
over His people, over Israel.
Now therefore you 'hear, listen, concentrate and obey' {shama`}
unto the voice of the 'doctrinal communication' {dabar}
of Jehovah/God."

{Note: Samuel was the last judge and the last divinely anointed ruler of Israel until David. Saul was the 'people's choice' and Samuel is not going to get in the middle of the problem - he will allow God to handle the situation, so he is following God' command to anoint Saul king.}

2~~Thus said Jehovah/God of the armies/hosts,
"I remember that which Amalek did to Israel,
how he laid wait for him in the way,
when he came up from Egypt."

{Note: The Amalekites were Arab raiders. They robbed travelers on the road from Egypt. They threaten the Jews - their liberty, freedom and function as a free nation so in the perfect knowledge of God, He knows mankind will be better off if this people is entirely removed from history.}

3~~"Now go and smite Amalek,
and utterly destroy all that they have,
and spare them not.
Kill both man and woman,
infant and suckling {even the babies on the breasts},
ox and sheep,
camel and ass
  {they represent money and wealth and food and clothing}."

4~~And Saul gathered the people together,
and numbered/trained them in Telaim,
two hundred thousand footmen/infantry
  {these men are from the north},
and ten thousand men of Judah.

5~~And Saul came to a city of Amalek,
and laid wait in the valley
  {set up an ambush and the Amalekites could not escape}.

6~~And Saul said unto the Kenites
  {cousins to the Jews and always were kind to them (the chief
  of the Kenites was once Moses' father-in-law)},
Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites,
lest I destroy you with them.
For you showed kindness to all the children of Israel,
when they came up out of Egypt.
Therefore the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites
  {separation means preservation -
  Principal is always to separate from reversionism}.

7~~And Saul smote the Amalekites from Havilah
until you come to Shur,
that is 'over against'/'on the boarder of' Egypt.

{Note: Means Saul decisively defeated them and then pursued the survivors almost to Egypt.}

8~~And he captured
Agag, the king of the Amalekites alive,
and utterly destroyed all the people
with the edge of the sword.

{Saul's Rejection of God's Command to Kill All}
9~~But Saul and the people spared Agag,
and the best of the sheep,
and of the oxen,
and of the fatlings,
and the lambs,
and all that was valuable,
and would not utterly destroy them.
But every thing that was vile and refuse,
that they destroyed utterly.

10-11~~Then came the 'doctrinal communication' {dabar}
of Jehovah/God unto Samuel, saying, 11~~
"I have changed My mind
that I have established Saul to be king.
For he is turned back from following Me
  {means he has rejected the Word of God and is in reversionism},
and has not performed/executed My commandments."
And Samuel was upset.
And he cried unto Jehovah/God all night
  {on behalf of Saul}.

12~~And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning,
it was told Samuel, saying,
"Saul came to Carmel, and, behold,
he set him up a place,
and is gone about, and passed on,
and gone down to Gilgal."

{Note: This means that Saul was hiding all the illegal booty from Samuel's eyes.}

{The Sugary Lies of a Reversionist}
13~~And Samuel came to Saul
and Saul said unto him,
"Blessed be you of Jehovah/God.
I have performed the commandment of Jehovah/God."

14~~And Samuel said,
"I hear the sound of the bleating of the sheep,
and the lowing of the oxen, what is {the meaning of} this?"

{Blaming others and More Lies}
15~~And Saul said,
"They have brought them from the Amalekites.
For the people {Saul trying to shift blame}
spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen,
to sacrifice unto Jehovah/God your 'Elohiym/God.
And the rest we have utterly destroyed."

16~~Then Samuel said unto Saul,
"Stay {right where you are},
and I will tell you what Jehovah/God
has said to me this night."
And he {Saul} said unto him {Samuel}, "Say on".

17~~And Samuel said,
"When you were little in your own sight
  {means to be oriented to grace! You are nothing, God is everything
  attitude of a mature believer},
were you not made the head of the tribes of Israel,
and Jehovah/God anointed you king over Israel?"

18~~"And Jehovah/God sent you on a journey,
and said, Go and utterly destroy the degenerate - the Amalekites.
And fight against them until they 'are destroyed'/'be consumed'."

19~~"Wherefore/why then did you not obey
the voice of Jehovah/God,
but did fly/light upon the spoil
  {jumped on it and took it and kept it for himself},
and did evil in the sight of Jehovah/God?"

20~~And Saul said unto Samuel,
"Yes, I have obeyed the voice of Jehovah/God
  {Saul denies the charge against him},
and have gone the way which Jehovah/God sent me.
I have brought Agag the king of Amalek,
and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites."
