1-3~~Moreover
the Word of Jehovah/God
came
by study to me, saying, 2~~
"Proceed
with a plan
and
speak forcibly in the ears of Jerusalem, saying,
'Thus
said Jehovah/God,
I
remember you . . .
{the fragrance of pleasant memories toward the Jews},
the
'grace type love' of your youth . . .
the
love of your espousals/'bridal state'/
'soul
and physical relationship completed' . . .
{RM
and RW analogy - soul then physical relationship completed}
when
you went after Me in the wilderness . . .
{Exodus Generation following God in the desert -
Deuteronomy 32:12}
in
a land that was not sown. 3~~
Israel
{RW} was 'consecrated to'/
'separated
unto' {belonged to RM} Jehovah/God
{Exodus Generation was God's Right Woman in the analogy},
and
the firstfruits of His increase.
{Israel was first consecrated nation representing God on Earth -
client nation to God}
All
that devour him {anti-Semitism in any manner} shall offend {God}.
Evil
{national catastrophe} shall come upon them," said Jehovah/God.
{Note: In the analogy of this Chapter, Israel in the Exodus Generation is the Right Woman (RW) and Jesus Christ is Right Man (RM). The RW becomes unfaithful - eventually overt adultery (idolatry). The RM (God) remains faithful though the RW (Israel) becomes unfaithful. In the RM/RW relationship, there is first soul relationship and then physical expression. And, there is ONE RM for ONE RW.}
{Note: All of Israel are the Right Woman of God. Anti-Semitism is an abomination to God! Touch the Jews and God will SMITE you, right into the ground! Many strong nations have gone down in flames because of their attitude toward the Jew.}
{Direction
of the Analogy}
4~~You
concentrate on the content of the Word of Jehovah/God,
O
house of Jacob
{means 'chiseler' - pre-salvation name of the patriarch},
and
all the families of the house of Israel {post-salvation name}.
{Query
from the RM to His RW}
5~~
Thus said Jehovah/God,
"What
wrongfulness {unfaithfulness to the maximum}
have
your fathers {Jewish ancestors of Jews in Jeremiah's audience}
discovered
in Me?
That
they have gradually receded far from Me
{gradual process of becoming unfaithful},
and
have kept overtly walking after emptiness/nothingness
{chasing your breath},
and
have become empty
{accepted a cheap substitute instead of her RM/God}?
{Right
Man Protects His Right Woman}
6~~
Neither said they,
Where
. . . {is} Jehovah/God (?)
Who
caused us to be brought up/liberated
out
of the land of Egypt . . .
Who
caused us to be led
through
the wilderness {a dangerous place} . . .
through
a land of deserts {very dry}
and
of pits {quicksand environment} . . .
through
a land of drought,
and
of the shadow of death . . .
through
a land that no man safely passed through,
and
where no man dwelt?
7~~And
I {God} caused you to arrive
into
a plentiful {land of perfect prosperity} country
{When a RW is with her RM, she has 'arrived' - the woman is the
glory of her RM - Jews came into the Land by His Grace},
to
eat the fruit/production thereof {enjoying life}
and
the goodness thereof.
And,
when you entered,
you
defiled My land
{Joshua died and the Jews turned to idolatry again -
see Judges 2:10 when Joshua dies it breaks out again},
and
my heritage an abomination {set up idolatry}.
{Priests
also Not Remembering the Lord and His Ways - Neglecting the Lord}
8~~The
priests said not,
Where
is the Jehovah/God?
And
they who communicate
in
an orderly manner the law {teaching priests}
knew
Me not.
The
'civil rulers' also revolted against Me,
and
the prophets prophesied by Baal,
and
walked after things that do not profit
{sought after only things that made them 'happy' - have to put
the Word of God first to have capacity to enjoy - put the horse
before the cart}.
{Warning
- God Permits Apostasy through about 3 Generations and that is it}
9~~
Wherefore I will yet contend/quarrel/'warn by chastening'
with
you, said Jehovah/God,
and
with your children's children
I
will contend
{and then the 5th cycle of discipline if no turn around}.
{Note: Jeremiah's ministry will last over 40 years.}
{Verses
10-11: Even Gentile Nations are Faithful to Their False Gods}
10-11~~For
pass over the isles of Chittim {land west of Palestine},
and
study them {Jeremiah is told by God to go himself}.
And
send {someone else} unto Kedar
{someone else check out the other direction},
and
perceive/discern for yourself,
and
study if such things have occurred. 11~~
Has
a {Gentile} nation
substituted
or altered {become fickle with} their gods,
which
are yet no gods {false gods}?
But
My people {Jews of Judea} have altered/substituted
their
glory {Jesus Christ is the Glory of Israel}
for
that which is caused to not profit
{idolatry and adultery will only bring you pseudo-
happiness and being unreal, have no real profit to you in them -
fleeting happiness and will make you miserable in the long run}.
{Note: Jeremiah is told to travel and check out the Gentile Nations to the West and send someone to the West. They are not fickle with their false gods, yet the Jews are faithless to Jesus Christ, the God of Israel. Idolatry is spiritual unfaithfulness/fornication.}
{Introduction
to the Angelic Conflict}
12~~"Be
shocked/utter appalled {shamem},
O
you heavens {shamayim}, at this {unfaithfulness of Judea},
and
shutter {convulsive motion in a sudden shock},
and
be astonished," said Jehovah/God.
{Note: All human action is related to the angelic conflict. The angels are ordered by God to be aghast at how humans will accept a piece of stone or wood instead of worshiping Jesus Christ.}
{Note: Shamem and shamayim are similar words in the Hebrew. This is a paronomasia (play on words) and that is why angels was not used - a divine pun!}
{Two
Evils - Rejection of Jesus Christ and Rejection of His Word}
13~~"For
My people {Jews of Judea}
have
constructed
{apostasy out of negative volition to doctrine - 'asah}
committed
two evils;
they
have forsaken Me {apostasy - negative mental soulish activity}
the
'fountain you have to dig'
{picture of daily intake of Bible Doctrine}
of
living waters {Jesus Christ gives life and nourishes life},
and
hewing/digging them out cisterns
{analogy to digging a pseudo-fountain - positive volition to
worshiping idols},
broken
cisterns {idols to false gods},
that
do not have the ability to hold water
{maladjustment to life - no doctrine - no capacity to be happy/
hold water}.
{Note: If anything is more important to you than Jesus Christ, you are a broken cistern. The water of the Word will leak out and not nourish you. Idolatry is the extreme condition of a completely broken cistern!}
{Verses
14-19: Logical Progression: Self-inflicted Misery}
14~~Israel
. . . a slave {`ebed - taken into slavery}?
A
home-born slave {bayith - born into slavery, no hope for freedom}?
Why
has she {Israel} become plunder/booty {for the Chaldeans}?
{Note: When a woman leaves her right man, she loses the protection of her RM. Having her RM in her heart is a protection for her. When she leaves her RM protection, she is extremely vulnerable. In this analogy, Judea (RW) left her right man, God, and is out from under His protection - because she went into spiritual adultery - idolatry.}
15~~
The young lions
{a predatory animal - a nation wanting to plunder Judea}
roared
against him {Chaldea is the predator here},
and
they gave their voices in screams {the victims},
and
they made {shiyth} his land waste
his
cities are burned without inhabitant.
16~~Also
the children of Noph {capital of Egypt}
and
Tahapanes
{an Egyptian border city - together represent Egyptian Empire}
have
broken with {partied with other men instead of her RM}
the
'crown {natural part in her hair}
of
the head'
{idiom - meaning predatory male uses the body of someone else's
woman for his own pleasure - he protects neither her body
or her soul}.
{Note: The crown is where the hair naturally parts on your head. The RW had a natural RM. The woman's hair is the glory of her RM. When RW goes into adultery, she parties with other men breaking away from her RM. She is now partying with the predatory animals and is in great trouble. Same with Judea and false gods. They have an agreement with Egypt to protect them, but when the Chaldeans show up the Egyptians run away.}
17~~Have
you manufactured {'asah} this for yourself?
In
that you have forsaken Jehovah/God your Elohiym/Godhead,
when
He caused you to be led in the way {away from Egypt to freedom}!
{Note: The Jews acquired freedom from Egypt by God and now they are 'returning' to Egypt in forming an alliance with them.}
{Jeremiah
Challenges the People - What is important to you?}
18~~What
to you . . . the way of Egypt?
{Elliptical structure is very strong}
You
have chosen to drink the muddy waters of the Nile
{Shiychowr - Nile when muddy - 'drink' muddy Nile water
or pure water of the Word?}.
Or
what are you doing in the way of Assyria
{sublimation - drinking, drugs, social life},
to
drink the waters of the river {Euphrates}?
{Note: Egypt represents your free will taking you where you think happiness and security exists - slavery to the details of life . . . instead of finding God's way/plan for you.}
19~~Your
own wickedness shall punish you,
{'drinking the wrong water' is putting anything in front of the
intake of the Word}
and
your defection/apostasy shall intensively punish you in your soul
{by suffering, misery, and disillusion to bring you back
to the Word}.
Know
therefore and see/concentrate . . .
that
it {reversionism} is an evil thing and bitterness {of soul},
that
you have forsaken {negative volition to}
Jehovah/God
your Elohiym/Godhead,
and
that My 'responsive love'/reverence is not with you,
said
the 'Adonay/Lord . . .
Jehovah/God
of the army/hosts.
{Pattern
of Judea's Revolt}
20~~From
eternity past,
you
have broken in pieces My yoke
{spiritual heritage of Jesus Christ as God of Israel},
and
you have yourself torn off your bands
{Portions of Mosaic Law that deal with institutions -
nationalism, family,};
and
this is what you said,
"I
will not 'step over'
{yet in they had it in their souls and then overtly};
when
on every high hill {Phallic Cult practiced}
and
under every green tree
{the grove was another place the Phallic Cult was practiced}
constantly
spreading your legs,
you
have fornicated like a prostitute!
{Note: Spreading your legs for the wrong man is a picture of category II adultery and is used in an analogy for idolatry being spiritual adultery in category I love for God.}
21~~But
I {Jesus through prophet Jeremiah}
had
planted you
a
noble vine
{ a seed of Grace - Spiritual heritage -
Southern Kingdom - as the RW of faithful God},
all
of them {the Jews} . . . the seed of doctrine/truth
{doctrine in their souls made them noble}.
And,
how then have you changed yourself toward Me
into
a bastard shoot of a foreign vine!
{Note: A wild vine is one that tangles itself around a good vine. A noble vine comes from the seed of doctrine. A bastard shoot comes from false seeds - false concepts - such as: soft on crime, no respect for family values or marriage, no patriotism. The Jews had false gods on their mind instead of the intake of the Word of the one true God.}
{Note: In the Old Testament, the 'empty vine' refers to the Northern Kingdom out under the 5th cycle of discipline. The 'vineyard' refers to the entire kingdom of the Jews. And, the 'noble vine' is the Southern Kingdom.}
22~~"Even
though you wash yourself
with
the strongest soap,
and
you multiply the soap to yourself
{worked up a real enjoyable lather of soapsuds},
your
'life of guilt'/iniquity
is
engraved before Me
{ritual does not impress God - ritual without reality is meaningless -
- sins are dirt and they are getting crusty instead of getting
clean}",
said
the Adonay/Lord Jehovah/God.
{Note: Nitre came from the bottom of a dried up lake bed and is like borax and makes a good soap. Jeremiah says these Jews are now going through 'rituals' but without understanding the meaning of the ritual. For example, they go thru the various 'rebound rituals' but do not personally rebound their sins to God. They have lost the meaning of what the ritual was teaching them. So, they have the only real 'soap' for purifying themselves of sins, but yet they do not use it! They are using rituals - like lent, fasting, etc. to 'feel good' but this does not propitiate God.}
