Jeremiah

Chapter 31

{Note: Chapter 31 also goes along with Psalm 119. See that Psalm also. Jeremiah is warning the people of what will happen in about 10 years time. These people had rejected bible doctrine. They were under the 4th cycle of discipline. Finally under Chaldea, the Jews went out under the 5th cycle of discipline in August 586BC when King Nebuchadnezzar destroyed Jerusalem.}

1 "At the same time," said Jehovah/God,
"I will be the 'Elohiym/Godhead of all the families of Israel,
and they shall be My people."

2 Thus said Jehovah/God,
"The people which were left of the sword
found grace in the desert . . .
even Israel,
when I went to cause him to rest.

3 Jehovah/God has appeared of old unto me, saying,
"Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love.

Therefore with grace/lovingkindness have I drawn you. 4

Again I will build you, and you shall be built,
O virgin of Israel.

You shall again be adorned with your tabrets,
and shall go forth in the dances of those who make merry. 5

You shall yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria.

The planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things. 6

For there shall be a day,
that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry,
'Arise you, and let us go up to Zion
unto Jehovah/God our 'Elohiym/Godhead."

7 For thus said Jehovah/God,
"Sing with gladness for Jacob,
and shout among the chief of the nations.

Publish you, praise you, and say, O Jehovah/God,
save Your people . . . the remnant of Israel. 8
Behold, I will bring them from the north country,
and gather them from the coasts of the earth,
and with them the blind and the lame,
the woman with child
and her who is in child birth/'travails with child' together.

A great company shall return there. 9

They shall come with weeping,
and with supplications I will lead them.

I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way,
wherein they shall not stumble.

For I am a Father to Israel . . .
and Ephraim is my firstborn."

10 Hear the word of Jehovah/God,
O you nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say,
"He Who scattered Israel will gather him,
and keep him . . . as a shepherd does his flock. 11

For Jehovah/God has redeemed Jacob,
and ransomed him from the hand of him
who was stronger than he {Israel}.

12 Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion,
and shall flow together to the goodness of Jehovah/God,
for wheat, and for wine, and for oil,
and for the young of the flock and of the herd.

And their soul shall be as a watered garden.

And they shall not sorrow any more at all.

13 Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance.

"Both young men and old together . . .
for I will turn their mourning into joy,
and will comfort them,
and make them rejoice from their sorrow. 14

And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness,
and My people shall be satisfied with My goodness,"
said Jehovah/God.

15a~~Thus said Jehovah/God,
"A voice was heard in Ramah,
lamentation, and bitter weeping.

{Note: Not an ordinary voice, but one of lamentations and screaming and weeping. See also the book of Lamentations which was also written by Jeremiah.}

15b~~Rahel/Rachel weeping for her children
refused to be comforted for her children,
because they were not {they were destroyed}.
  {this was also a later-day prophecy - see Matthew 2:17-18}

{Note: Rachel was a literal woman but she represented all the women who were weeping over the children that the Chaldeans had put to death. It was the policy of the armies of the ancient world that any baby who had to be carried was killed before a march started.}

16a~~Thus said Jehovah/God,
" 'Shut up and dry your eyes . . . now!/
'Refrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears'.

{Note: A certain amount of crying is understandable. But there comes a time to shut it off and that is what God is telling the believers here. Snap out of it! There is a tough road ahead for them, but they must be on their toes to survive.}

16b~~For your work shall be rewarded," said Jehovah/God,
"and they shall come again from the land of the enemy. 17~~

And there is hope in your end," said Jehovah/God,
"that your children shall come again to their own border."

{Note: 'Your work' indicates that the believers were told to stop crying. They had faced the worst things you can imagine (rape, torture, murder of their babies), but they are to rely on Him and His Word. God has promised that someday many of these people would return to their land. The principle of doctrine is 'they are still alive'. If you survive a national disaster and have gone through horrible things, remember God has a purpose for your life!}

{Note: RBT says that Jeremiah is prophetically addressing this to the people . . . who included Ezra - the teenage boy who would be abused on this march, then have a great career in Nebuchadnezzar's court, then return the people to the land as an old man, and write Psalm 119 and the Book of Ezra. RBT then suggests that maybe it was actually the story of Ezra's father Seraiah. Then Ezra took his father's files and composed Psalm 119 from his father's notes. Either case is possible.}

18 I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus,
"You have chastised me,
and I was chastised,
as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke.

Turn you me, and I shall be turned . . .
for you are Jehovah/God my 'Elohiym/Godhead.

19 Surely after that I was turned, I repented.

And after that I was instructed,
I smote upon my thigh.

I was ashamed, yes, even confounded,
because I did bear the reproach of my youth.

20 "Is Ephraim My dear son?

Is he a pleasant child?

For since I spoke against him,
I do earnestly remember him still.

Therefore My emotions/bowels are troubled for him.

I will surely have mercy/'grace in action' upon him,"
said Jehovah/God.

21 Set you up signposts,
make you high heaps.

Set your 'right lobe'/heart toward the highway,
even the way which you went.

Turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these your cities.

{Right man/right woman analogous to the relationship between God and Judah}
22~~ How long will you go about, O you backsliding daughter?

For Jehovah/God has created a new thing in the earth.
 {the Jewish race - a new race}

A woman shall 'compass' {perfect embrace that fits} a man.
 {each woman is physically designed for only one man - a perfect
  design}

23 Thus said Jehovah/God of the armies/hosts,
the 'Elohiym/Godhead of Israel,
"As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah
and in the cities thereof,
when I shall bring again their captivity.

Jehovah/God bless you,
O habitation of justice, and mountain of holiness.

24 And there shall dwell in Judah itself,
and in all the cities thereof together,
husbandmen, and those who go forth with flocks.

25 For I have satiated the weary soul,
and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.

26 Upon this I awaked, and beheld.

And my sleep was sweet unto me.

27 "Behold, the days come," said Jehovah/God,
"that I will sow the house of Israel
and the house of Judah
with the seed of man,
and with the seed of animals.

28 And it shall come to pass,
that like as I have watched over them,
to pluck up,
and to break down,
and to throw down,
and to destroy,
and to afflict.

So will I watch over them . . .
to build, and to plant,"
said Jehovah/God.

{The breaking of the 4-generation curse. 2 of the four referenced here}
29~~In those days {the millennium}
they shall say, "No more!

The fathers have eaten a sour grape
 {negative volition toward doctrine},
and the children's teeth are set on edge."

30~~ "But every one shall die for his own iniquity.

Every man who eats the sour grape,
his teeth shall be set on edge."
 {law of individual culpability}

{New Covenant with Israel for the Millennium - Mosaic Law out with the Church Age}
{See also Hebrews 10:15-17}
31-32~~"Behold, the days are coming {millennium},"
said Jehovah/God,
"that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel,
and with the house of Judah 32~~
not like the covenant {Mosaic Law}
that I made with their fathers {Exodus Generation}
in the day when I seized them by the hand
to cause them to come out of the land of Egypt . . .
My covenant, which they broke,
and yet I was their lord/husbandman/farmer",
said Jehovah/God.

{Note: The House of Judah and House of Israel will be reunited at this point in time.}
{How to break the curse}
33~~"But this is the covenant
that I will make with the house of Israel
after those days", said Jehovah/God,
"I will give My doctrine in their thinking {frontal lobes},
and engrave it in their heart/'right lobe' {mentality of the soul}
consequently, I will be their 'Elohiym/Godhead,
and they will be My people."

{Note: The sign of being one of God's people is to have His doctrine in your right lobe - or conscience - to be applied to all experiences in life.}

{Note: What is the content of the New Covenant to Israel? RBT says:
  1) Old Testament Doctrines

  2) Information in Ezekiel chapters 40-48, Isaiah 65, Joel 2:28-29,
  Zechariah 14:16-17 and

  3) Everything pertaining to the millennium.}

{Millennial Verse - Perfect Environment but still Inequality}
34~~"And they shall teach {again and again under discipline}
no more every man his neighbor,
and every man his brother, saying,
"Know Jehovah/God . . .
For all of them shall know Me!

From the least even to the greatest of them." said Jehovah/God,
"For I will 'forgive on the basis of propitiation' . . . their iniquity,
and their sins, I will not remember again
  {intake of doctrine and rebound and forgiveness of sin}."

{Note: In the Millennium everyone will know God, but a third will still reject Him.}
35 Thus said Jehovah/God,
Who gives the sun for a light by day,
and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night,
which divides the sea when the waves thereof roar;
Jehovah/God of the armies/hosts is His Name.

36 "If those ordinances depart from before me,"
said Jehovah/God,
"then the seed of Israel also shall cease
from being a nation before Me for ever."

37 Thus said Jehovah/God,
"If heaven above can be measured,
and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath,
I will also cast off all the seed of Israel
for all that they have done," said Jehovah/God.

38 "Behold, the days come," said Jehovah/God,
"that the city shall be built to Jehovah/God
from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner."

39 "And the measuring line shall yet go forth over
against it upon the hill Gareb,
and shall compass about to Goath. 40

And the whole valley of the dead bodies,
and of the ashes,
and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron,
unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east,
shall be holy unto Jehovah/God.

It shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever."
