John Chapter 14 (Continued) {Verses 18-19: Principal of the Church Age} 18-19~~"I {Jesus} will not 'leave you behind/'abandon you' 'helpless like an orphan' {orphanos}, I will come face to face with you {rapture of the Church}. 19~~"For a 'short time'/'little while'   {micron - rest of incarnation period} and then, the cosmos/world perceives mentally {theoreo} Me not any longer, but, in contrast, you perceive mentally {theoreo} Me. Because I {Jesus} live   { zao - function of life - referring to His resurrection body forever}, you will live too {also will have a resurrection body forever}. 20~~"But in that day {day of Pentecost} You will know from study or experience {ginosko} that I {Jesus} . . . {am} in My Father {same essence - One in essence} and you all . . . {am} in Me and I {Jesus} . . . {am} in you all." {Note: The Elohiym/Godhead is a plural Hebrew word. It means that in Elohiym ia more than One personality. Jehovah, El or Adoni are the singular Hebrews words used for a specific member of the Godhead. So, They are plural in personalities, yet 'One' in essence. The members of the Godhead have exactly the same infinite characteristics. Being infinite, the Father is omnipresent as is the Son. They are said to be IN each other. As believers, we are in Union with Christ - so we are In Him - the body of Christ. But He also indwells every believer in the Church Age ('in that day' - starting at Pentecost).} 21~~"The one who keeps on having and holding My commandments and 'guards what belongs to them'/'obeys them' {tereo} is the one who loves {agapao} Me. The one who loves {agapao} Me will be loved {agapao} under the authority of {hupo} My Father, and I will love {agapao} him and will 'make Myself known'/'reveal Myself' to him." {Verses 22-31 - Jude/Judas Asks the Lord Questions} 22~~ "Lord," Judas (not Iscariot) said, "how has it become {how can this be?} that You are making Yourself known to us and not to the world?" {Note: Jude does not understand that God the Holy Spirit makes God and His Word only 'real' to believers. We know Jesus in the Church Age, through His Word. God the Holy Spirit makes it clear to us. This ministry is not given to unbelievers.} 23~~ Jesus 'had an answer'/'gave a discerning answer from the ultimate source of Himself' {apokrinomai} and said to him, "If anyone loves {agapao} Me, that one will obey My Word {the bible is His Word}, and My Father will love {agapao} him   {will be able to have a 'mental attitude'   demonstration of His love for us}, and We {Father and Son} will come face to face {pros} with him {believer} and 'will make a mansion' beside {para} him." {Note: Jesus is talking to His disciples still in the Jewish Age. He is saying to Jude, if you see me now and love me, then study, listen and learn My doctrine. The indwelling will not begin until the Pentecost and the Church Age begins.} 24~~The one {believer} who does not love {agapao} Me does not 'guard what belongs to them'/'obey' {tereo} My Words {negative to the Word of God}. And the Word you hear is not Mine, but belongs to the Father Who sent Me. {Note: Jesus agreed to submit Himself to the Father and the Plan of the Father. Bible doctrine in the Mind of Christ, but is also the Plan of the Father Who sent Him.} {Jesus Taught In His Incarnation} 25~~ "These things I have communicated/taught {laleo} to you - to your advantage - residing {meno} beside {para} you {while in His Incarnation}." {God the Holy Spirit will Teach in the Church Age} 26~~ But the Encourager/Paraclete {parakletos} . . . the Holy Spirit {pneuma}, Whom the Father will send in My Name, will teach {didasko} you all things {the Truth - Bible doctrine}, and will cause you to remember everything I said {lego} to you." {Note: Parakletos: 'para' means along side. Kletos means to call or communicate. So to communicate along side is a helper. Jesus was 'para' in verse 25. When He leaves, the Father will send a new 'para' along side us to help - to bring comfort, blessing, objectivity, orientation to Grace, differentiation of false teaching from the Truth on and on.} {Note: Didasko means public teaching. Therefore, you learn from the teaching of a prepared pastor-teacher, and it is the ministry of God the Holy Spirit to make the Truth in the teaching clear to you. What you accept as Truth, is stored in your memory center for future use. When it is needed, your paraclete causes you to remember the doctrine that you need to apply to the situation.} 27~~`` 'Inner peace'/prosperity {eirene} I {Jesus} leave behind {as a legacy} with you - to your advantage. My 'inner peace'/prosperity {eirene} I keep on giving to you {as you keep on taking in doctrine daily}! Absolutely not {ouk} as the world gives!   {human viewpoint, religion, legalism, works . . .   will not bring you inner happiness - only     the study of the Mind of Christ permits you to share   the happiness of God} Let your hearts/'right lobes' not {me} receiving worry/ 'agitation in your mind' . . . stop being timid {deiliao}!" {Note: Eirene means inner peace and prosperity. The basic connotation of eirene is tranquility and harmony - freedom from disturbance - a Relaxed Mental Attitude. It also means security or prosperity in the soul.} {Note: Aphiemi means to leave behind some 'fragrance' of yourself - like a woman leaving behind the scent of her perfume. When Jesus leaves, He leaves behind His sweet fragrance - bible doctrine!} {Note: Deiliao means to be timid. But you must keep the horse in front of the cart! First, have the bible doctrine resident in your soul! Then you are equipped to represent the Lord on the earth! And, when you are spiritually mature, THEN you will NOT be worried - you will have an RMA - and there is no need to be timid in allowing God to exercise your spiritual gift that He gave you or in fulfilling any responsibility of a Christian in the Church Age.} {Orientation to the Plan of God the Father} 28~~"You have 'heard and obeyed/understood' that I said {lego} to you, 'I depart/'am going away' - for your advantage - {Incarnation of Christ} and come {back} to you.'   {2nd Advent of Christ - Church Age is in between} If you had kept on loving Me {agapao - a mental attitude love} - but you did NOT keep on loving Me {2nd class condition-negative}- you would have received joy/'inner happiness' {in the soul} that I am going - from one place to another - face to face with the Father, because My Father is greater than I am   {Jesus speaking from His Humanity -   His deity is equal to the Father's}." {Note: This is a very important verse. Jesus tells the disciples here that they do NOT love Him! How can this be? Well, Jesus is explaining what agape type love is all about. It is a mental attitude love of a relaxed mental attitude. It is to be free of all mental attitude sins - no judging, maligning, gossiping, slandering, and mental murder. Agape type love is based on the doctrine (and resultant virtue) in your soul from bible doctrine. Jesus is saying IF they had really understood the MEANING of the doctrine He taught (they understood His words on the cross - but not the meaning!) . . . repeat . . . if they had understood the meaning of His doctrine, they would have had a relaxed mental attitude about Him going to die on the cross! They would have understood that it was part of the plan of God the Father and therefore was absolutely right . . . no matter what their 'human viewpoint' feelings about His death were!} {Note: "Man does not live by bread alone but by every Word that proceeds from His mouth'. 'All scripture is God-breathed . . .' God exhales doctrine. Man needs the inhale of doctrine to LIVE . . . as much as he needs food to merely SURVIVE! Man inhales the doctrine and exhales (under the filling of God the Holy Spirit) divine good production. The residual in the 'lungs of the soul' is the happiness of God.} 29~~"And, at the present time   {meaning right now as He spoke to them}, I have told you before it comes to pass, for the purpose that on that occasion you may believe." {Verses 30-31: Opposition to the Father's Plan} 30~~"I will not communicate/teach {laleo} in association with you much longer, for the ruler of this cosmos/world {Satan} is coming. He has no power over Me {idiom - literally 'nothing on Me'}, 31~~ but, in contrast, for the purpose that the cosmos/world may know from observation {ginosko} that I keep on loving {agapao} the Father, and as the Father commanded Me - even so I will do. Get up, let us go from here." {Note: Satan left the room in Judas. Jesus is saying Satan will return but does not have the power to prevent Jesus from going to the cross. This is the end of the Upper Room Discourse.
