John
Chapter
14 {Note: Jesus' departure was unique. His Spirit went to heaven to be with the Father. His body went into the grave. And, His soul went to witness to the fallen angels in Tartarus and to Paradise/'Abraham's bosom' in the center of the Earth. After the resurrection, His complete spirit, soul and resurrected body went again to the third heaven. There, Peter will be able to follow when he dies.}
13:37~~Peter
said to Him {Jesus}, {Note: Jesus said you can not follow now (nun). Peter changes nun to 'arti' having the concept of one person moves and you step right into his foot print - the very minute - where you go Lord I always go! Very loyal, but is having trouble applying to his experience the doctrine that Jesus is teaching. {Note: Psuche - from which we get psyche - means 'soul' not 'life' - that is bios or zoe.}
13:38~~Jesus
'had an answer'/'gave a discerning answer {Note: This last phrase is in the subjunctive mood. This means that the omniscience of Jesus knew what Peter would choose to do, but His deity would not interfere with the free will of Peter. Peter could have chosen not to deny the Lord, but Jesus knew he would choose to deny Him.}
{KJV
Chapter 14 Begins} {Note: This is the ultimate expression of the Grace of God. It is for believers who are flat on their back with troubles. Specifically, here Jesus tells Peter he would deny his Lord three times by dawn. Peter's face must have hit the floor. Jesus commands him not to worry! He was saved and always would be saved - eternal salvation. Even denying the Lord would not cost Peter his place in heaven with the Lord.} {Note: The third class condition of if at the end here indicates that even at this late date, the free will of the humanity of Jesus Christ can still choose not to go to the cross - 'nevertheless Thy Will be done'.}
4~~"And
where I go {Note: Hodos means a systematic source of planning or action. It means phase II in the Church Age. The first Christians were called the 'followers of the way'.}
{Verses
5-7: Question of Doubting Thomas} {Note: It is believed that Thomas came from Antioch and eventually became a missionary into Persia where he was martyred for the Lord. At this point in time, he is not paying very good attention and understands very little of what the Lord has taught him for 3 years. He implies that all of them were ignorant of the doctrine but that is his assumption. Everyone learns at a different speed. The means of knowing the way is the study of bible doctrine as it is presented in your dispensation! He got the teaching straight from the Lord's mouth and still did not understand! We have the Mind of Christ today in writing!}
6~~Jesus
said to him {Thomas}, {Note: Zoe is the function of life - the Christian Modus Operendi - walking in the Light - filled with God the Holy Spirit - study, learn, apply doctrine. SideNote: Bios is used for the principal of life - from which we get biology.}
7~~"If
you had 'learned by study or experience' {ginosko} Me,
{Verses
8:21 - Philip Asks the Lord Questions} {Note: Arkeo means to be both happy and satisfied. Lots of people are happy but not satisfied! Many are satisfied, but not happy. It takes doctrine in your soul to be happy and satisfied!}
{Jesus'
'Sanctified yet Sarcastic' Response to Philip} {Note: In the Greek language, the way you phrase things is very telling. Jesus did not say Philip was with HIM, instead He said 'have I been WITH YOU!' Like Philip was the focal point of the group! Dripping in sarcasm here.}
{Jesus
Takes Philip Back to the Basic Doctrines} {Note: Jesus is telling Philip, believe Me the person, or believe me based on the divine good productions you have seen produced through Me . . . either way believe in Me!}
11~~"Believe
Me!
12-16~~"
'Point of Doctrine!' {amen amen} {Note: What is agapao type love? When directed toward God, it is a mental attitude love response to His love for us. How do we demonstrate our love for Him? We keep or guard as precious His directions. What are the steps in doing this? You can not keep what you do not understand. Therefore, the first step after salvation is to study and learn what His commandments are. The bible is the Mind of Christ. All of it was given to us to learn and understand. Many verses tell us that we are to listen and concentrate and accept as true what is taught in a public situation. We also know the gift of pastor teacher is a permanent gift still active today. So step one is find your right pastor teacher who is faithfully teaching the Word of God - verse by verse - and concentrate on his teaching.}
16~~
"Then I {Jesus in His role as our High Priest} {Note: Jesus is prophesizing that our 'paraclete' will not 'abide side by side' us as He did selected individuals before the Pentecost, but in the Church Age, God the Holy Spirit will dwell IN us. And, this state is permanent - even in eternity future God the Holy Spirit will reside with us in our resurrection bodies. Some Old Testament believers like David had the enduement of God the Holy Spirit. But in the Greek, 'para' was used which means this enduement was 'by the side of' David and did not dwell IN him - as He does with us today.}
17~~
{God the Holy Spirit} even 'the Spirit/Breath {pneuma} {Note: Pneuma is the Greek word for 'spirit'. It is the noun form of pneo (Matthew 7:25), which means to blow - 'a wind blows' or to breathe - 'a person breathes'. Pneuma means breath and is used for God and angels who have no material form. 'Spirit of Truth' is a functional title for God the Holy Spirit - Who, as our paraclete, only allows the real Truth (not false doctrine) to be metabolized into our soul as usable 'divine viewpoint' or Truth in our norms and standards of the conscience of the soul.} {Note: Para means 'beside of' - status of God the Holy Spirit when Old Testament believers are endued with the Spirit. En means inside of - status of God the Holy Spirit when you accept Christ as your savior in the Church Age.} ************************************************** Joshua_Sozo and Syndein are the Trademarks of Syndein a California DBA of Kenneth Sidley & Associates, Inc., a California Corporation.
