Lamentations

Chapter 3 (Continued)
43~~Therefore, You have covered Yourself with anger,
and have pursued us.
You have slain without pity.

44~~You have covered Yourself with a cloud,
so that {our} prayer should not pass through.

45~~You have made us scum and excrement/refuse
'among the nations'/'in the middle of the people'.

{Note: Were the blessed Client Nation to God. Now they had no testimony to give to their neighbors (evangelism) so their blessings ended and they are seen as excrement.}

46~~All our enemies have opened their mouths wide against us.

47~~{We suffer} . . . Terror and pitfalls,
ruin and destruction.

48~~Streams of tears flow from my eyes {says Jeremiah}
because the daughter of my people are destroyed.

49~~Streams of tears flow from my eyes
ceasingly and without relief.

{Note: Jeremiah LOVED his congregation! THEY would not listen to HIM! So, when the 5th cycle of discipline came to the Jews, Jeremiah could not control his emotional outflow.}

50``Jehovah/God keeps on being caused to look down,
and keeps on beholding from heaven.

51~~What I see brings grief to my soul {nephesh}
because of all the daughters/women of my city.

52~~Those who were my enemies without a cause
hunted me like a bird.

53~~They tried to end my {Jeremiah's} life in a pit,
and placed a stone {to seal off the slimy cistern}.

{Note: Jeremiah tried to warn the people. So the rulers threw him into a pit/'slimy cistern' and sealed it off with a large stone - trying to shut him up!}

54~~Waters flowed over my head.
I thought I was cut off {about to die}.

55~~I called upon Your name, O Jehovah/God,
from the depths of the pit/cistern.

56~~You heard my plea.
You did not close Your ears to my cry.

57~~You came near when I called You
and You said, "Do not fear."

58~~`O 'Adonay /Lord,
You have taken up the case/cause of my soul
  {Plaintiff in a 'law suit' analogy}.
You have redeemed my life {chay}
  {deliverance by the Lord of Jeremiah from out of the cistern}.

59~~O Jehovah/God,
You have seen the wrong done to me.
'Uphold my cause'/'You judge my case'!

60~~You have seen the depth of their vengeance
and all their 'evil intentions'/plots against me.

61~~O Jehovah/God,
You have heard their insults,
and all their plots against me.

62~~"My enemies whisper and plot
against me all day long.

63~~Look at them setting and standing.
They mock me in their songs.

{Jeremiah's Imprecatory Prayer _ Really Putting the Matter in God's
 Hands and Not seeking Personal Revenge}
64~~Pay them back what they deserve, O Jehovah/God,
for what their hands have done.

65~~Put a veil over their hearts/'right lobes',
and may Your curse be on them.

66~~Persue them in anger and destroy them
from under the heavens of Jehovah/God.

{Note: Why did Jeremiah pray this? Because He knew this was the ONLY means of the survival of the Southern Kingdom at this time (and any Client Nation to God in the future). The removal from history by God those whose carnality is so deep they corrupt the entire nation away from Him and His Word. But LEAVE IT TO GOD! He needs no creature's help!}
