Psalms

Chapter 3
{Faith Rest Drill In Historical Disaster}

{Note: See II Samuel 15:30. At the beginning of the Absalom revolution, David had to flee Jerusalem. Apparently this, and Psalm 63, is what he was thinking as he fled.}

1a~~{Title} A Psalm/'morning prayer' of David
when he fled from Absalom, his son.
{Verses 1b-2: Situation - Revolution or Historical Disaster}

1b~~Oh Jehovah/God,
how my enemies have increased!
Many are rising up against me.

{Note: In a revolution, you start with the hard core. They then incite the general public to follow the revolution with propaganda and lies. The people believe the lie. Criminals come in and take over the revolution. Anarchy follows. Much of the general public particularly to the South of Jerusalem followed Absalom in his revolution.}

2a~~Many are saying about my {David's} soul . . .,
" 'Elohiym/Godhead will not be delivering him."

{Note: This is blasphemy. This is an illustration of what the bible says when it prohibits 'taking the name of the Lord in vain'. This is not a true statement. This is imposing their evil wishes on the volition of God.}

2b~~Selah
  {Selah means singers rest and instruments play on
  - it is a picture of you resting while the Grace of God
  continues on}.

{Verses 3-4: The Plan of God Rationale}
3~~But You, O Jehovah/God,
are a shield around me . . .
my glory . . .
and the lifter up of my head.

4~~I was crying to Jehovah/God with my voice.
And He answered me
from His Holy Mountain.
  {not here the Mount of Olives that David was climbing
  in II Samuel 15:30, but from His Holy Mountain in Heaven}

Selah
  {Selah means singers rest and instruments play on -
  it is a picture of you resting while the Grace of God
  continues on}.

{Verses 5-6: Immediate Application of David's Logistical Grace Rationale}

5~~As for me, I laid down and slept.
I wake up again
because Jehovah/God sustains me.

{Note: David knows he has been in jams before. But he goes to sleep and amazingly the next day, he is still there under logistical grace support and keeps on going. He knows it is the Lord who sustains him.}

6~~I have no fear of 'any large number of forces',
  {idiom: literally 'tens of thousands of people' used for infinite}
who have set themselves against me on every side.

{Verse 7: Essence of God Rationale Applied Very Briefly}
7~~Arise . . . O Jehovah/God.
Deliver me . . . O my 'Elohiym/Godhead.

For You have punched all my enemies on the jaw.

You have broken the teeth of the revolutionists {rasha`}.
  {David anticipates his future victory over the Absalom
  revolutionists}

{Verse 8: Essence of God Rationale - Principal from It - Jesus Christ Controls History}
8~~`Deliverance/Salvation belongs to the Jehovah/God's.
Your blessing . . . on Your people.

  - it is a picture of you resting while the Grace of God
  continues on}.
