Psalms
{Verses
1-8: The 'Aleph File - The Ox - Represents Prosperity - Depends on
learning Bible Doctrine} {Note: 'Esher means 'inner happiness' and it is plural. It refers to all the categories of happiness that come from having God's divine viewpoint in your soul. Even after all of the horrors that Ezra's father saw, Ezra begins with happinesses. Tamiym means to be 'fully equipped for anything'. Of course it means to have a soul filled with divine viewpoint from the daily study of the Word of God.}
2~~'Inner
Happinesses' . . . {to} those {Note: Natsar means to guard something you consider valuable or in the agricultural sense, to tend to your fields. 'His testimonies' refers to all the doctrines that tell us God's divine viewpoint. The doctrines that describe His person and His characteristics. The 'heart' is the thinking part of the soul. When the thinking part of your soul is filled with God, then He is first in your list of priorities - and you will share the happiness which belongs to Him.} 3~~They do not produce under 'the evil'.
They
Walk in His Ways. {Note: The evil is the Old Testament method of describing being under the influence of the Old Sin Nature. So in the previous verse we have rebound. Here we have those who do not rebound and remain out of fellowship and are operating 'under the energy of the flesh' or under 'the evil'.}
4~~You
{God} have appointed/commanded/decreed Your precepts diligently. {Note: See Isaiah 28:10 on how doctrine is to be taught. Precepts are doctrines taught in categories. A little here (baby doctrines), and a little there (now build teenage doctrines on top - then mature doctrines on it all).} 5~~O that my ways were directed to keep Your statutes! {Note: Ezra's father faced terrible terrible things on the death march to Babylon. Yet, he used the bible doctrine in his soul and survived! Ezra's father was sustained by the doctrine in his soul. 'Statues' refer to bible doctrine stored on the shelves of your soul where they can be used when the situation requires - RMA, Faith Rest Technique, Rebound, eternal security, etc.}
6~~Then
shall I not be confused {buwsh} . . . {Note: Confidence comes from knowing God and His plan and come to know His plan for you. When you understand doctrine you do not get rocked or shocked, you keep on moving forward with confidence. 'Nabat' means to like something so well that you really desire it - extreme positive volition to God and His Word - better than a beautiful woman or a big piece of apple pie! 'Commandments' are bible doctrines in the process of being learned.}
7~~I
will praise/celebrate You with uprightness of heart/'right lobe' {Note: Lamad means to 'learn the hard way' - the 'School of hard knocks'. Discipline when you make mistakes. This is the tough way to learn, but it is the way that most of us grow spiritually - it is not an easy road - but it is worth it!} 8~~I will keep Your statutes. Forsake me not utterly. {Note: Ezra's father's request to God to 'Let me stay alive so that I can learn doctrine - learn more about You and Your Divine Plan.' Let me see Your Grace under Maximum adversity.}
{Verse
9-16: Beth File 'House file' - Represents Where Doctrine is Taken in} {Note: 'Wherewithal' is the Old English for 'in what'. His 'Way' is his life after salvation. How can a teenager maintain his life before the Lord under the most difficult circumstances of life - as it was for Ezra's father? This was written by a mature teenager in the slave camp of a drunken, lascivious Chaldean army after destroying Jerusalem. Everything of this young man was violated - except his SOUL. The only way to keep his soul and life clean is to rebound and stay in fellowship whenever he has known sins. 'Shamar' is a military word meaning 'guard'. This is a paronomasia - a pun/'play on words'. The guards were abusing the captives, yet he is guarding the doctrine in his soul.} 10~~With my whole heart/'right lobe have I sought You. O let me not wander from Your commandments. {Note: The whole heart is the soul as it relates to the human spirit. His inner life is completely intact. It is not marred by what the horrible circumstances are doing to his outer person. 'Commandments' refers to God's Word/Direction for the life of the believer after salvation.}
11~~Your
doctrine/Word . . . I have treasured/'stored up' {Note: 'Imrah is the word here for 'doctrine'. It means the Word of God. Tsaphan means to 'store up' something valuable. Doctrine is more valuable then fine gold or choice silver. chata' means to 'make a false step' and it is often used for sin. Here the sin is to 'downgrade the value' of his treasure. If he allows the treatment of the Chaldeans to get to him, he might start building mental attitude sins and forget what he learned from doctrine. That is what is in view here.}
{Short
Prayer - Teach me in Time of Disaster} Teach me Your statutes. {Note: Ezra's father on his death march knows he needs even more doctrine but Jeremiah is not there to teach me. So, he prays to God directly for help - help in obtaining more doctrine to sustain him.}
{Rebound
Mechanics} {Note: Ezra's father recognizes that God judges all sin. So, he confesses his sins directly to God and they are forgiven.}
{Rebound
Results} {Note: The riches here are the treasures of bible doctrine in his soul. As a captive, Ezra's father had none of the details of life. They are tortured, raped repeated, and otherwise horribly treated. But his treasure was intact.}
15~~I
will 'talk to my self'/meditate {Note: Piqquwd, translated 'precepts', actually means to have doctrine taught to you by categories. Nabat means to anticipate you will enjoy something with extreme pleasure - and then do enjoy it when it comes.}
{The
Love Affair All Believers should Experience} I will not neglect Your Word/'doctrinal communications'. {Note: Sha`a` means 'to fondle' - 'heavy necking'. It really means to make the most intimate love. Ezra's father has been homosexually attacked over and over. Terrible things are happening physically to him, but HE gets up in the morning and 'makes Love to the Lord' . . . to bible doctrine. Statutes is doctrine presented categorically.} {Verse 17-24: Gimel File - Camel - Denotes Travel and therefore Wide Knowledge}
17~~Benefit/'Deal
bountifully' {an order} {Note: Means to keep doctrines on the shelves of the soul where it can be used when it is necessary.}
18~~Uncover
my eyes . . . {Note: To uncover my eyes means to make doctrine clear and 'pipe it' into my soul.} 19~~I am a foreigner in the land. Do not conceal Your commandments from me. {Note: 'Erets means earth or land. Here 'being a foreigner' is an idiom meaning he is a slave in a foreign land - he no longer belongs there.}
20~~My
soul is bruised/'under great pressure' {Note: The brutality of the guards is causing him to have a 'bruised soul'. It is hard for him to not have mental attitude sins from all their evil abuse. So, he concentrates on his inner resources - he loves God and His Word and it sustains Him through these terrible conditions. Judgments here is bible doctrine presented categorically.}
21~~You
have rebuked the proud who are cursed, {Note: God rebukes all work done under the energy of the flesh - only energy of the spirit production is rewarded.}
{Casting
His Cares on the Lord} {Note: The Testimonies here refer to the doctrinal techniques - the rebound technique, the Faith rest technique, etc.}
23~~Princes
also did sit and speak against me . . . {Note: Ezra's grandfather was the high priest. The Chaldean leaders took special notice of Ezra" family here.}
24~~My
'love-making' is in Your testimonies {Note: This man was physically abused sexually, but his love-making was to the Lord and His Word.}
{Verse
25-32: Daleth File - the Door - Entrance into the Plan of God or a
Place of Blessing or Cursing} {Note: This is the principle of a mature believer claiming a promise of God. He knows he is strong in doctrine and only demanding what God has promised to do.}
{Rebound
First - Then He Can Learn More Doctrine} Teach me Your statutes.
27~~Cause
me to discern/understand {Note: Biyn is the word for understanding being tested in an exam. To take what you have learned in the past and use it now. So, even on this terrible march, he will witness to the enemy troops - and you can not communicate what you do not know.}
28a~~My
soul melts/'inner cries' {dalaph}
28b~~'You
lift me up by building muscle'/'Strengthen me' {Note: Quwm is a verb of body building. Here it is being used for building up the soul with bible doctrine. Making it strong to hand all the pressures he is under - as God promises His Word WILL do for those who study.} 29a~~Cause me to turn aside from the Ways of Vanity. {Note: Vanities emphasize the details of life. He could play up to the guards to get favors, but he will not do so.} 29b~~And be gracious to me with Your law/doctrine. {Note: Chanan means to be gracious and this is again the imperative mood - another command to God} 30a~~I have chosen the Way of doctrine/truth. 30b~~I am satisfied with Your judgments. {Note: He is part of a defeated nation. He is a slave in horrible conditions, but as a mature believer, he understands God's justice is perfect. He knows that part of God's plan for his life is to share in the 5th cycle of discipline with his nation. He suffered with his people and will become one of their leaders. His leadership is the kind that requires that he suffer with his people.} 31a~~I am glued to Your doctrine/testimonies {`Eduwth}. {Note: `Eduwth, translated testimonies, refers to the principles of doctrine.} 31b~~O Jehovah/God, cause me not to be confused.
32~~As
I run to the refuge of Your doctrine/commandments . . .
