Psalm Going up the Steps of the Temple'
{shiyr ma`alah - referring 'meditation for going into Church/Temple'
on each step, the Psalmist would quote a verse, then move up to
the next step - a step at a time
it is literally translated 'A Song of Degrees'}
1b``To
You . . . enthroned in heaven . . .
I
turn my eyes.
2``As
the eyes of the slaves follow their master's hand . . .
as
the eyes of a slave-girl follow the hand of her mistress . . .
So
our eyes are toward Jehovah/God our 'Elohiym/Godhead
awaiting
His favor/mercy {chanan}.
3``Show
us favor/mercy, O Jehovah/God . . .
show
us favor/mercy!
We have had more than enough of contempt.
4``
'Long enough have we endured/'Our souls are exceedingly filled'
with
the scorn of the complacent . . .
the
contempt of the haughty/proud/arrogant {yanah}.
