Psalms

Chapter 57

{Spiritual Victory of the Mature Believer}
{Verses 1-3 Cave of Adullam}
1~~To the Chief Musician - do not destroy {'Al tashcheth} . . .
a golden psalm {miktam} of David
when he fled from Saul in the caves
  {referring to the caves of Adullam in verses 1-3 - see I Samuel
  22:1 and caves of An-ga-de (sp) verses 4-6, verses 7-11 are
  the victories in these caves}

Give grace to me {chanan} O 'Elohiym/Godhead,
give grace to me {chanan} . . .
for my soul finds refuge {chacah} in You
  {David did not rely on the stronghold of Adullam - his refuge was in
  God}.

Yes, in the 'shadow of Your wings'
  {idiom meaning protection like a bird protecting its young under its
  wing picture of protection in offensive movement (in contrast to
  the protection in the caves)}
will I make my refuge {chacah},
until these catastrophes {havvah}
pass over {`abar} .

{Note: 'Al tashcheth means 'do not destroy' here this refers to David at the cave of Adullam. And it is referring to 'do not destroy' doctrine. Later it is used to also mean 'do not destroy' Saul. Saul was God's king and for which God to deal.}

2~~ I {David} will call for help
to 'Elohiym/Godhead the Most High God {'Elyown El} . . .
Who will bring it to an end/completion {for me}
  {gamar - referring to David's war with Saul}.

3~~He {God} shall send from the heavens,
that He might cause to deliver me {David}
  {David means God has decreed this in eternity past and it will come
  true}.

He has reproached the one {Saul}
seeking to annihilate {sha'aph} me.

Selah
  {Selah means singers rest and instruments play on -
  it is a picture of you resting while the Grace of God
  continues on}

Elohiym/Godhead shall send forth {to us}.

His grace {checed}
and His Doctrine/Truth {'emeth}
  {provisions/rations from Headquarters}.

4 My soul is among lions.

And I lie even among those who are set on fire,
even the sons of men,
whose teeth are spears and arrows,
and their tongue a sharp sword.

5 Be you exalted, O 'Elohiym/Godhead,
above the heavens.

Let Your glory be above all the earth.

6 They have prepared a net for my steps;
my soul is bowed down.

They have dug a pit before me,
into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves.

Selah
  {Selah means singers rest and instruments play on -
  it is a picture of you resting while the Grace of God
  continues on} .

{Verses 7-11: Quoted In Psalm 108:1-5}
7~~My heart/'right lobe' is stabilized {kuwn},
O 'Elohiym/Godhead.

I will sing and 'touch the strings' {zamar} . . .
  {zamar referred to a 'sul-try' (sp) which is a 12 string instrument}
also/even . . . {expressing} my honor {kabowd}.

8 Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp.

I myself will awake early.

9 I will praise you,
O Lord/'Adonay, among the people.

I will sing unto You among the nations.

10 For Your mercy is great unto the heavens,
and Your Truth/Doctrine unto the clouds.

11 Be you exalted, O 'Elohiym/Godhead,
above the heavens.

Let your glory be above all the earth.
