Psalms
Chapter
82
1a~~A
Psalm {mizmowr} of Asaph.
{Note:
Asaph was a prophet, musician and poet - see I Chronicles 6:39. He
wrote the Psalms 50 and 73- 83 which is actually poetry.}
1b
'Elohiym/Godhead stands in the congregation of the mighty . . .
He
judges among the 'elohiym/gods.
2
How long will you judge unjustly,
and
accept the persons of the wicked?
Selah
{Selah means singers rest and instruments play on -
it is a picture of you resting while the Grace of God
continues on} .
3
Defend the poor and fatherless.
Manufacture
justice for the afflicted and needy.
4
Deliver the poor and needy.
Rid
them out of the hand of the wicked.
{No
Understanding of Bible Doctrine}
5
They know not,
neither
will they understand . . .
they
Walk on in darkness.
{Why? Because there is no Light in their soul}
All
the foundations of the earth are out of course.
{Jesus
quotes this in John 10:34 and following}
6
I have said, you are 'Elohiym/Godhead's
and
all of you are children of the Most High.
{Note:
From verse 2 we see that this psalm is addressed to the Judges. They
are called 'Gods' here because God has delegated to them one of His
duties - that of the Judge of all mankind. Within nations, it is
authorized and directed by God to have a Judicial System and protects
the rights and freedoms of the citizens. Under these conditions,
judging is authorized and not a sin.}
7
But you shall die like men,
and
fall like one of the princes.
8
Arise, O 'Elohiym/Godhead,
judge
the earth . . .
for
you shall inherit all nations.
