10
{'King
of Arms' - Highest Angel is Angelic College of Heralds}
1~~Then
I saw another elect angel,
the
powerful one {same one from Revelation 5:2},
coming
down from heaven;
{King
of Arms' escutcheon follows} and
he
was wearing a cloud {first part of his escutcheon -
represents wisdom of God in dealing with human history
and the strategic victory of Jesus Christ in the 1st Advent},
and
a rainbow was over his head
{represents the integrity or holiness of God},
and
his face was like the sun
{represents the provision of logistical grace in time of historical
disaster},
and
his feet were like columns of fire
{represents Wall of Fire where God protects positive believers in
time}.
2~~And
he had a small open book in his hand {title deed to Earth};
and
he placed his right foot on the sea, and
his
left foot on the land {claiming the Earth for Jesus Christ at the
2nd Advent}.
{Note: Explorers of the past did the same thing when claiming a new land for their Ruler. They stepped off a ship and with one foot on shore and one is sea, they claimed the land. The King of Arms is claiming the world for the final Ruler of the Universe - the Lord Jesus Christ.}
{Verses
3-4: The Unrecorded 'Proclamation of the Seven Thunders'}
3~~He
{the King of Arms} shouted with a loud voice,
just
as a lion roars; and
when
he {the King of Arms} had shouted
the
seven thunders {pur sui vant angelic messengers}
relayed
the message/proclamation with their own voices.
4~~Now
when the seven thunders {pur sui vant angelic messengers}
relayed
the proclamation,
I
{John} was about {mello} to write it down . . .
but
I heard a voice {God the Holy Spirit}
from
heaven saying,
Seal
up/'forget it'/'close down' {do not communicate it to others}
what
{the content} the seven thunders have communicated, and
do
not write it down.
{Note: Mello here does mean 'about'. It is in the imperfect active indicative case meaning John was already taking notes. But when he went to write the proclamations into the Word, God the Holy Spirit ordered him not to. RBT says that these proclamations would have been so dramatic that they would have interfered with the human free will of the angelic conflict. In other words, if all mankind knew what these proclamations said, mankind would be influenced to sit out the conflict in the stands as a spectator instead of as a gladiator in the arena of life - as we should be. It is a victory bulletin.}
{Note: At this point in time, John is the SENIOR Christian on Earth. He is the last of the Apostles - the rest have gone to be with the Lord. Yet, he immediately recognizes the higher authority.}
{Verses
5-7: Motus Operandi of the King of Arms}
{Humility
in Action: A Powerful Angel Salutes His Authority - the Lord Jesus Christ}
5~~Then
the angel {King of Arms}
whom
I {John} had seen standing on the sea and on the land
raised
his right hand {motion of a salute}
toward
heaven.
6~~And
he {the King of Arms}
made
a solemn proclamation/oath
by
Him {Jesus Christ}
Who
lives forever and ever,
Who
created both the heaven
and
all the things in it,
and
the earth
and
all the things in it,
also
the sea
and
the things in it . . .
that
the time {period of the Tribulation}
should
no longer be delayed
{time for the end of the Tribulation - 2nd Advent - and Millennial
Reign}.
{Note: 'That time should no longer be delayed is an idiom - literally 'that time should be no more'.}
7~~Yet/nevertheless,
in the days
when
the seventh angel
is
about to sound his trumpet
and
the mystery of God
has
been accomplished {indefinite temporal clause},
just
as He {God the Holy Spirit}
proclaimed/announced
the good news
to
his own slaves/servants . . . the prophets.
{Note: The first part of this verse is an 'indefinite temporal clause'. This is a rare Greek syntactical method of saying 'more of this topic later' . . . now let's discuss. The proclamation will be completed in Chapter 19. From here to Chapter 19 will be the cause and effects of the last part of the tribulation.}
{Note: The mystery of God here is that body of eschatology related to the 2nd Advent and the Millennium and what will happen prior to the 2nd Advent. This includes the re-gathering of Israel and its restoration as the client nation to God.}
{Note: The last part of the verse was a reference to the fact that God revealed both Advents of Christ to the Old Testament prophets. For 1st Advent see Isaiah 53; and for the 2nd Advent see Zechariah 12, Isaiah 63:1-6.}
8~~Then
the voice
which
I heard from heaven {God the Holy Spirit}
spoke
with me again, and said,
"Take
the little book {containing the title deed of planet earth}
which
has been opened
from
the hand of the angel
who
has been standing on the sea and
on
the land."
{Verses
9-11: Herald of the 2nd Advent - King of Arms}
9~~Then
I went to the angel {King of Arms}
and
asked him to give me the little book/scroll.
Then
he replied to me {John} and said,
"Take
it, and eat it;
and
so it will make your stomach bitter,
but
in your mouth it will be sweet as honey."
{Note: There was an angelic Herald at the birth of Christ - maybe the same angel (Luke 2: 8-14), the King of Arms. And now for sure the King of Arms as the angelic Herald of the 2nd Advent. There was a human herald at the 1st Advent - John the Baptizer. And, Moses and Elijah will be the human heralds at the 2nd Advent.}
{Note: The eschatology of Satan's desperation makes John's stomach turn. The eschatology of our Lord's tactical victory of the 2nd Advent will be sweet.}
10~~Then
I took {lambano -verb of obedience} the little book
from
the hand of the angel,
and
I 'chewed and chewed and swallowed'/ate it;
and
it was as sweet as honey in my mouth.
But
when I {John} had eaten it,
my
stomach was made sour.
{Note: This brings out the humility of the greatest Christian alive at that time. John was told to eat, and he chewed and chewed and chewed - bringing out that he had time to spit it out - yet he swallowed.}
11~~Then
they
{plural suffix - God the Holy Spirit and the King of Arms}
said
to me,
"You
must prophesy again {write the rest of Revelation}
concerning
. . .
many
peoples {what happens to the masses of people will be
prophesied} -
both
nations
{what happens to nations - forming power blocks, etc.},
and
languages {both angelic and human languages will be studied} -
and
kings
{study great kings/rulers - kings of the north, west, east, revived
Roman empire, etc.}."
{Note: From the book that John digested comes the rest of the book of Revelation. There are three major subjects. 1) Eschatology of Satan's desperation - Chapters 12-18 2) Inevitable triumph of Christ/tactical victory of the 2nd Advent of Christ - Victory in the Angelic Conflict Chapters 19-20 3) Termination of human history as the extension of the Angelic Conflict - Chapters 21-22.}
