Revelation

12
{Verses
11:15 through 12:17 Continues -Seventh Trumpet Judgment}
1~~And
a great sign was seen in heaven.
A
woman {believing/ regenerate Israel}
clothed
with the sun {Jacob},
and
the moon {wives of Jacob, mothers of the Patriarchs}
under
her {Israel's} feet,
and
a crown of twelve stars
{the twelve sons of Jacob and patriarchs of Israel}
on
her head.
{Double
Entendre follows: Mary and Jesus . . . and Holocaust of 'Pregnant
Unbelieving Israel'}
2~~Nevertheless
she {Mary/Unbelieving Israel of Tribulation'}
having
been with child {pregnant}, screamed . . .
{Mary in real birth and unbelieving Israel in the 'holocaust
pregnancy'}
suffering
labor pains {the periodic holocausts of history},
and
she 'was tortured'/'had extreme pain'
{the great holocaust at the end of the Tribulation}
to
give birth {desired to be delivered from the anti-Semitism -
by the coming of Messiah}.
{Note: The unbelieving Jews are still waiting for 'their savior to be born from the virgin'. Of course, Mary's real childbirth included pain and the desire to have the child delivered. The main part of this analogy though is in comparing literal childbirth with the unbelieving Jews of the Tribulation still waiting for their Messiah to 'be born'. By not accepting Christ as their Messiah, they are constantly in the pains and anguish of childbirth throughout history and it only gets worse in the Tribulation.}
{Verses
3-4: Anti-Semitism}
3~~Then
another sign/'attesting miracle' was seen in heaven;
and
behold a great red dragon {Satan}
having
seven heads and ten horns
{the revived Roman empire is one of his instruments to seek to gain
control of the earth before the 2nd Advent}.
Furthermore
seven crowns {diadema} . . . {were} on his head
{referring to the seven surviving nations of the little horns (of
Daniel 7) conquest}.
{Note: The winner believer receives 'wreaths' sometimes called crowns. This is the Greek word 'stephanos'. Here we do not have stephanos. Instead we have 'diadema', which is the crown a ruler would wear. The difference being, that this is not the reward of a valiant warrior or an athlete in an Olympic type game.}
4~~And
his tail
{The dragon's power is in his tail, so represents Satan's power}
dragged
away a third of the stars of the heaven
{referring to Satan's revolution taking with him 1/3 of all angels},
and
. . . {meaning God did this}
threw
them {Satan and his fallen angels}
to
the earth.
Then
the dragon {Satan}
stood
before the woman {Mary}
who
was about to deliver the child
for
the purpose that when she might give birth,
he
{Satan} might destroy/devour her son {Jesus Christ}.
5~~And
then she {Mary}
gave
birth to a male {arrhen} child {huios}
{referring to Jesus Christ in His Hypostatic Union},
Who
was about to rule all nations
{reference to the 2nd Advent of Christ and His Millennial Reign}
with
an iron scepter
{rule of Christ will be with strong authority and integrity - including
capital punishment};
furthermore
her {Mary's} adult son {teknon}
was
caught up face to face with {pros} God
{ascension of Jesus Christ in Resurrection Body} . . .
even
before {pros} His {God the Father's} throne.
6~~And
so the woman
{now 'woman' refers to true/believing Jews evangelized in first ½
of Tribulation - regenerate Israel}
fled
into the high desert country
{the mountains of Matthew 24:16, or Edom, Moab,
and Ammon of Daniel 11:41},
where
she had a place of refuge
which
has been prepared by God,
in
order that there they may nourish/sustain her {Israel}
one
thousand, two hundred and sixty days
{42 months or three and a half years, shortened up a little}.
7~~
And there began a battle in heaven.
Michael
{a Seraphim rank angel greater in power now than Satan}
and
his angels {army of elect angels}
fought
against the dragon {Satan}.
Furthermore
the dragon
and
his angels {army of fallen angels}
fought
back.
8~~Nevertheless
he {Satan} did not win the battle of heaven.
In
fact, a place was no longer found
for
them {Satan and his fallen angels}
in
heaven.
{Note: Here in the middle of the Tribulation, Satan and his fallen angels were expelled from heaven. They then come to the earth where they bring terror to the earth for the rest of the Tribulation.}
9~~Then
the great dragon {the ancient serpent of Genesis 3},
who
is called the Devil {diabolos} . . .
and
Satan {Satanas - means the 'adversary' - Satan brings
accusations against believers before the Supreme Court of heaven
until this time - when he is excommunicated from heaven } . . .
who
keeps on deceiving the entire world
{Satan is the 'Great Deceiver' of all time},
was
thrown out of heaven.
He
{Satan} was hurled to the earth;
furthermore,
his {fallen} angels were thrown out with him.
10~~Then
I heard a loud voice in heaven
{top angel - per RBT King of Arms}
which
said, "Now the deliverance {2nd Advent} has come . . .
also
the power {Jesus Christ in hypostatic union},
even
the kingdom of our God
{God the Father's plan for the Millennium},
and
the authority of His Christ;
because
the accuser {Satan}
of
our brethren/'fellow believers'
-
who constantly brings charges against them
before
our God {court of heaven} day and night -
has
been cast down
{from heaven to earth - Satan is confined to earth in the Middle
of the Tribulation}."
{Note: Satan does not accuse unbelievers because they are good members of His reign. He only accuses believers. Jesus Christ Himself is our defense attorney - Zechariah 3.}
11~~Furthermore,
they overcame him {Satan}
because
of the blood of the lamb
{1st victory - strategic victory - the saving work of Christ on the
cross. The victory is 'to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ'}
and
because of the Word {doctrine applied - logos} . . .
by
means of their testimony
{2nd victory - tactical victory - perception and application of
doctrine};
in
fact, they were not afraid to die
{Idiom - literally is 'did not love their soul/'soul life'/psuche
to the point of death'}.
12~~For
this reason keep on celebrating, O heavens
{the elect angels, believers with resurrection bodies, believers in
an interim body - the Old Testament saints and the Tribulational
martyrs of the first half of the Tribulation},
and
you who 'temporarily dwell'/tabernacle {live in an interim body}
in
them.
Woe
to both land and sea
{entire planet earth. This is the third woe of the eschatology of the
devil's desperation}
because
the devil has come down face to face with you,
and
he has vehement anger,
knowing
that his time is short.
13~~
Now when the dragon {Satan}
saw
that he had been thrown to the earth
{beginning the 3rd Woe and the 7th trumpet}
he
{Satan} persecuted the woman {Israel}
who
gave birth to the male child
{referring to Judea who gave birth to the Messiah - this is the
great holocaust of the Tribulation}.
{Logistical
Grace Provision For Regenerate Israel in the First Half of the Tribulation}
14~~Nevertheless
the two wings of the great eagle
{divine protection of true Israel - believers advancing to maturity}
had been given to the woman
{Regenerate/true Israel in first half of Tribulation}
for
the purpose that she might fly
to
her place of refuge
{Edom, Moab, and Ammon - Daniel 11:31-High Mountain Country}.
Where
in that place, she will be sustained {trepho}
for
three and one-half years
{idiom: literally is 'for a time (1 year), plus times (2 years), plus
one half time (1/2 year)},
from
the presence/face of the serpent {Satan}.
{Note: In the first half of the Tribulation, the mandate given was to flee to the mountains - those who fight will die. SideNote: In the second half, the mandate is fight - those who flee will die.}
{Note: 'Trepho' when used for children is to 'give suck' or nourish. Used with adults, it means to sustain.}
{Analogy
of Disaster}
15~~Then
the serpent
{title for Satan as ruler of the Earth after Adam sinned
(after the serpent deceived the woman)}
projected/spewed
from his mouth
{means he commanded personally the army and ordered the attack}
water
{here water represents the third demon assault army}
like
the 'floodwaters'/'tidal wave'/'quickly rushing flood waters'
{represents great force and violence}
to
overtake the woman {Regenerate Israel}
{idiom: literally is 'after the woman'},
in
order that he {Satan}
might
cause her {Regenerate Israel}
to
be swept away
by
the 'floodwaters'/'quickly rushing flood waters'/'violence of rapids'
{drowned in the violently fast moving waters - demon army ordered
to kill regenerate Israel}.
{Note: In Isaiah 8:7-8 water is used for an advancing army - because the sound made by an advancing army is like the sound of a flood or rushing stream. That is the way it is being used here.}
{Analogy
of Deliverance}
16~~Nevertheless
the land
{land as opposed to water - safety from the water}
helped
the woman {Divine Power}.
In
fact, the land opened its mouth and swallowed the 'floodwaters'
{the seventh trumpet, the attack of the third demon assault army
against the Jews}
which
the dragon {Satan}
projected
from his mouth
{Satan gave the orders for the army to march}.
{Note: In the analogy, the land mass dissipates the power of the rushing flood waters. Land then represents the power of God in helping Israel in the time of historical disaster.}
{Second
Attack}
17~~Then
the dragon {Satan} was enraged
{rage frustrated from the source of Satan's arrogance - an
angelic tantrum}
with
the woman {regenerate Israel}.
Consequently,
he 'went off in a huff' {aperchomai}
to
make war against the survivors
of
her {Israel's} posterity/seed {Jewish remnant in view here},
those
believing Jews who keep on observing the mandates of God
{those with perception and application of doctrine to experience}
and
who keep on having the testimony of Jesus
{imitate Christ - through their mouth and action}.
{Transitional
verse for Last Half of the Tribulation}
18~~Then
he {Satan} took his stand on the sand of the sea.
{Note: 'Sand of the sea' refers to the next two chapters and the dictators who serve Satan. The Sea is the sea of nations during the last half of the Tribulation. The sand refers to the fact that Satan is restricted to the earth in the last half of the Tribulation. Satan has now been cast out of heaven.}
