Revelation
Chapter
5
{Verses
1-4: Doomsday Book of the Tribulation}
1~~Then
I {Apostle John} saw
in
the right hand of Him {God the Father}
Who
was sitting on the throne . . .
a
book {the doomsday book} . . .
written
'on both sides'
{literally 'inside and on the outside/backside'} . . .
having
been sealed {until the end of the Church Age}
with
seven seals.
{Note: The 'seven seals' represent sequence of historical trends in the Tribulation. In every Age except the Church Age, prophecy dictates historical trends. In the Church Age, the period of mystery, there is no prophecy. How the individual believers in a client nation go - for or against doctrine/Christ - determines the historical trends in the Church Age.}
{Note: RBT says this verse contains an anthropomorphism for the Hand of God the Father holding the book. God does not release the book until the Church is in heaven. In Chapter 7 Jesus takes the book from the hand of God the Father.}
2~~Then
I saw a powerful angel {king of arms/officer of arms}
announcing
with a great/magnificent voice,
"Who
. . . {is} worthy
to
break its seals and to open the book?"
{Note: Endowed power is implied here. This one one of the very highest ranking of the angelic order and when he speaks, he speaks with the authority of the King of King, Whom he represents as a herald here.}
3~~And
no one in heaven {includes all categories of creatures -
at least human or angel}
nor
on earth {humans still in phase II and angels on earth}
nor
under the earth
{Sheol or Hades where fallen angels are still in prison}
was
able/qualified to open the book
nor
to even 'look upon it'/'view its contents'.
{John's
Failure by Emotions Overruling Doctrine in His Soul}
4~~And
so I {John} wept and I wept {klaio}
because
no one {human or angelic} was found/discovered
who
. . . {was} worthy {axios} to open the book
or
to see/'glance at' {blepo} it {read the contents implied here}.
{Note: John had the doctrine that Jesus Christ was worthy to open the book. But, when dealing with the Angelic Conflict, additional pressures will be thrown your way. Writing this book must have been a great hardship for John and he breaks down here. But he will recover and continue.}
{Note: The KJV has an additional phrase here 'to read it' which is implied, but not in the original.}
5~~Then
one of the elders/'angelic staff officers' {presbuteros}
said/commanded
to me {John},
"Stop
crying!!!
Look
here,
the
lion of the tribe of Judah {2nd Royal Patten of Jesus Christ -
King of the Jews},
the
root of David {1st Royal Patten - Sovereign Deity -
see Isaiah 11:1 and following}
has
prevailed/'won the victory'
and
is qualified to begin opening the {doomsday} book
and
{break} its seven seals."
6~~Then
I saw a ram {Jesus Christ - the controller of History}
as
one who had been killed as a sacrifice
{Jesus Christ - the Lamb of God}
standing
in the middle of the throne {room}
with
the four angelic heralds {Seraphim}
and
in the middle of the elders/'angelic staff officers' {presbuteros}
and
He {Jesus as the Ram} had seven horns
and
seven eyes
which
are the seven Spirits of God
{covered in Revelation 1:4 and Isaiah 11:1-2}
which
have been sent out to all the world
{God the Holy Spirit and the source of the power of the
divine Dynasphere}.
{Note: Throughout the Old Testament, 'horns' represent human power. The seven horns of the ram refer to power of Jesus Christ over all nations. Specifically His power over the 7 dispensations as the One Who controls all History.}
7~~Then
He {Jesus Christ} came and took it {the doomsday book}
from
the right hand {represents hand of approval}
of
Him {God the Father} Who sat on the throne.
{Note: This verse represents Jesus Christ Who controlled history in the previous dispensations, now is in His Resurrection body. Here God the Father makes known that Jesus Christ will continue to control history in the 3 remaining 'horns' - Church Age, Tribulation and Millennium.}
8~~And
when He {Jesus Christ} had taken the book,
the
four angelic heralds
and
the twenty-four 'angelic staff officers'/elders {presbuteros}
fell
down before the Ram/lamb
and
each one had a lyre {stringed instrument like a guitar}
and
'libation cups'/goblets made of gold,
full
of incense
{a form of perfume which is burned instead of liquid form}
which
are the prayers
of
the {tribulational} saints/'ones set apart to God'.
{Future
Song of the Angelic Hierarchy}
9~~Then
they sang a 'new in species'/'brand new' {kainos} song
saying/'the
lyrics are as follows',
"You
{Jesus} keep on being worthy to take the book
and
to break its seals
{prophetical presentation of historical trends of the tribulation} .
. .
because
You were 'killed as a sacrifice'
{sphazo - referring to His spiritual death on the cross}
and
You have redeemed/purchased mankind/'human beings'
for
{the personal ownership of} God
by
means of Your blood {figurative} . . .
from
every tribe {referring to the Jews first - the 12 tribes}
and
from every language
{people divided into languages to prevent a one world rule and
the quick spread of evil and the destruction of the human race}
and
from every people
{in the uncivilized parts of the world - those without a nation}
and
from every {civilized} nation.
{Winner
Believers Will Rule in the Millennium}
10~~In
fact,
You
have appointed/made them
{the 'redeemed humans'/'Church age believers'}
a
royal power {basileus -Divine Dynasphere}
and
priests to our God.
And
they {winner believers - male and female}
shall
rule {basileuo}
on
the earth {referring to in the future - the millennium}.
{Note: Using basileus and basileuo in one verse is a play on words. If you are a church age believer and USE the power system of living under the power of God the Holy Spirit, then YOU will 'basileuo' in the future. All believers in the Church age are royal priests. Union with Christ means we share His Royalty and His High Priesthood (meaning He is the High Priest forever and we are priests to God forever).}
11~~I
{John} both saw and heard
the
voice of many angels {song of the angelic chorus}
around
the throne
and
of the angelic heralds
and
the 'angelic general staff'/'elders' {presbuteros}
and
there number was beyond counting
{idiom: literally ten thousand of ten thousands
and thousands of thousands}.
12~~They
sang/'spoke the lyrics' {lego}
fortissimo/'with
a loud voice',
{lyrics
of the song}
"The
Lamb {Jesus} Who has been sacrificed/'ritually slaughtered'
is
worthy to receive {7 aspects of his 3rd Royal Patent}:
{1}
power {dunamis - His 1st Advent Prototype Divine Dynasphere;
2nd Advent to rule the world}
and
{2} wealth
{ploutos - riches in the sense of money and security}
and
{3} wisdom {sophia - application of doctrine to history/
experience}
and
{4} 'endowed power'/energy/ability
{ischus - potential ability to rule}
and
{5} honor {'time' - as a result of victory at 1st Advent -
given to the Humanity of Jesus}
and
{6} glory {doxa - at 2nd Advent -
humanity of Jesus Glorified also now}
and
{7} the act of blessing
{eulogia - both temporal and eternal for His royal family}.
13~~Then
I heard every creature
who
was in heaven
{Body of Christ joins in with other creatures in the chorus
- as the sea of glass in Rev. 4:6}
(both
on the earth
{1st category of believers - alive at the time of the rapture}
and
under the earth {1st part of 2nd category of believers -
those who died before the rapture}
also
on the sea {2nd part of 2nd category of believers -
those who died before the rapture}
and
everyone who is in/under them)
singing,
"To
Him Who {God the Father} sits on the throne
and
to the Lamb {Jesus Christ},
act
of blessing {eulogia}
and
honor {time}
and
glory {doxa}
and
sovereign power {kratos}
belongs
to Them {Elohiym/Godhead}
forever
and ever."
{Angels
Respond to What the Church/Body of Christ Sings}
14~~Then
the four angelic heralds kept saying/singing,
"
'I believe it'/Amen."
Then
the 24 'angelic general staff'/'24 elders' {presbuteros}
fell
down and worshiped.
{Note: The phrase 'Him that lives forever and ever' is not repeated here in the original.}
