Romans
Chapter
9
1-4_
I am communicating doctrine in Christ,
I
am not lying,
my
conscience bearing witness with me . . .
in
the Holy Spirit {God the Holy Spirit is source of scripture} . . .
2_
that
I have a great sorrow
and
constant pain in my right lobe . . . 3_
for
I could wish
that
I myself would be accursed,
consequently
separated from the Christ
for
the sake of my brethren {the racial Jews},
my
fellow countrymen {national Jews}
according
to earthly descent {Abraham, Isaac and Jacob} . . . 4_
who
are Israelites {Jews, a Client Nation to God} . . .
to
whom is the adoption {recognition after physical birth, an adult
on i.e. "you must be born again"},
and
the glory {Shekinah Glory},
and
the covenants,
and
the gift of the law {Mosaic Law and establishment},
and
the worship of God,
and
the promises {imputation of blessing in time and eternity}.

From whom are the Father's
{refers to regenerate ancestors, particularly Abraham, Isaac,
Jacob},
in
fact, from whom is the Christ . . .
the
One Who came in the flesh,
the
One Who is God . . .
ruler
over all {refers to 2nd Advent of Christ} . . .
extolled
forever, Amen.

However, this is not to imply that the word of God has failed.
For
not all who are descended from Israel
are
really Israel {true Jews are born again}.
7_
Neither because they are Abraham's seed {racial Jew},
are
all racial Jews children of the inheritance {covenants}.
But
{Gen 21:12} in Isaac your seed {spiritual seed}
shall
be elected {designated Client Nation to God}.
8_
This means that the descendants of the flesh {racial Jews}
these
are not children of God
{being a Jew does not mean automatic salvation} . . .
but
the children of promise are imputed for the seed {spiritual seed}.
9_
For the word of the promise is this {quote from Gen 18:10},
at
this time {maturity}
I
will come,
and
Sarah will have a son.
10_
And not only the previous case history,
but
also Rebecca,
when
she had become pregnant from one {Isaac, her husband},
Issac
our father.
11_
Twins {Esau and Jacob} had not yet been born,
and
though they had not yet accomplished anything good or evil,
in
order that the predetermined plan of God {divine decrees}
might
remain in status quo in relationship to election,
not
from works,
but
from Him Who elects.
12_
It was said to her {pregnant Rebecca in Gen 25:23},
the
older {Esau} shall be subservient to the younger {Jacob}.
13~~
As it is written,
Jacob
have I {God} loved,
but
Esau have I hated.
{Note: RBT says this is called an 'Anthropopathism'. That means to use human terms to attempt to describe characteristics of God . . . though God does not have the emotions like human 'love and hate'.}
14~~To
what conclusion are we forced?
{idiom: literally: 'what shall we say?'}
There
is no unrighteousness with God? NEVER!
15_
For He {God} communicates to Moses {in Ex 33:19},
I
will have mercy {blessings to mature believer}
on
whomever I show mercy
{imputation of God's righteousness at the point of salvation},
and
I will have compassion {logistical grace}
on
whomever I show compassion {salvation}.
16_
So then, it is not from him {Esau} who desires blessing,
and
not from him who runs after blessing,
but
from God who has mercy.
17_
For the scripture says to Pharaoh {Ex 9:16},
For
this very purpose {Pharaoh's refusal to release the Jews}
I
have caused you to continue in history,
in
order that I {God} might demonstrate My power
by
means of you {Pharaoh continually saying, no},
and
in order that My person might be proclaimed
throughout
the entire earth.
18_
Consequently therefore,
He
{God} shows mercy on whom He desires,
in
fact, and on whom He wishes He hardens
{permits them to live longer and exercise negative volition}.
19_
Therefore, you will say to me {Paul, this is sarcasm},
why
does He {God} still find fault?
For
who has resisted His purpose {intention}?
20_
You on the contrary, O mankind,
who
are you who answers back to {contradicts} the God?
Can
what is molded say to its molder,
why
have you made me like this? No.
21_
Or does not the potter {referring to God}
possess
authority over the clay {man}?
From
the same lump {human volition}
to
make on the one hand a vessel
for
the purpose of honor {Jewish believer},
and,
on the other hand,
another
for the purpose of dishonor {unbelieving Jew}?
22_
Moreover, if as is the case,
the
God willing to demonstrate His indignation {divine judgment},
and
to reveal His power {omnipotence},
has
endured with great patience
vessels
of wrath {condemnation of unbelievers}
having
been equipped {from their own free will}
for
destruction
{the Last Judgment, the Great White Throne Judgment}.
23_
And in order that He might make known {reveal}
the
riches of His glory {blessing to mature believers}
on
vessels of mercy {believers},
which
{vessels}
He
{God} previously prepared for glory
{blessing in time and eternity}.
24_
Even us,
whom
He has elected {believers in Church Age},
not
only from among the Jews,
but
also from among the Gentiles.
25_
As He {God} has communicated in Hosea {Hosea 2:23},
I
will call those who are not my people {Gentiles} . . .
My
people {Gentiles become Client Nation}.
And
those who have not been loved
{unbelieving Jews, Jewish nations in times of Gentiles},
as
those who have been loved
{they will be restored at the 2nd Advent}.
26_
And it shall be in the place {Israel}
where
it was said to them {Hosea 1:10},
you
are not my people.
In
that same place,
they
shall be called the sons of the living God.
27_
In fact, Isaiah,
-
speaking in an emergency with reference to Israel
{Isaiah 10:22,23} -
if
the number of the sons of Israel
be
as the sand of the sea . . .
the
remnant {Jewish believers in Tribulation}
shall
be delivered {saved}.
28_
For the Lord will execute His word on the earth {2nd Advent},
completing
what He also decreed.
29_
And so just as Isaiah has prophesied {Isaiah 1:9},
except
the Lord of the armies {Jesus Christ}
had
left to us a seed {spiritual seed of Abraham i.e. believing Jew},
we
{Jews} would have become like Sodom {only three survivors},
we
would have been made like unto Gomorrah {no survivors}.
30_
Therefore, to what conclusion are we forced?
That
the Gentiles
who
did not pursue righteousness {self righteousness},
have
attained divine righteousness,
that
is the righteousness
which
is from the source of faith {faith in Jesus Christ}?
31_
But Israel
who
ran after the law
by
means of human self righteousness {human works}
has
not accomplished
the
purpose of the law.
32_
Why {did they fail}?
Because
they did not pursue it {salvation}
by
means of faith {believing in Christ},
but
as by means of their works {keeping the law for salvation}.
They
have tripped {stumbled}
over
that rock {Christ}
of
the stumbling {they have rejected Christ}.
33_
Just as it stands written {Isaiah 8:14; 28:16},
Behold,
I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling,
even
a rock which arouses opposition.
Nevertheless,
he
who believes on Him {Jesus Christ}
will
not be disappointed {at Last Judgment}.
