Daniel
Chapter
11 (Continued)
{Details
now of above (Jewish Style - Recap then Details}
34~~Now
when they shall fall,
{fall here is referring to the spiritually mature Jews falling
backwards away from God and His Word - the first thing
they do is disband their military . . . and in 161 BC
the Seleucids attack again under Demetrius - they trusted
in the treaty}
they
shall be helped with a little help
{the Jews appealed to Rome and Rome sent a letter
saying they were supporting the Jews - so Demetrius
backs off somewhat to not upset Rome too much}
but
the many shall cleave to them with flatteries.
{Demetrius makes concessions to the Jews without
really quitting the war and many Jews fall for it}
35~~And
some of 'them of understanding' shall fall,
{referring to the fact that in the beginning the leaders had
doctrine and learned military tactics - later the leaders
died and the individual Jews had to rely on their own
"ECS's"}
to
test them,
{can believers pass the tests to advance in spiritual maturity?
many of these Jews passed the test}
and
to purge,
{to purge those believers who fail the test}
and
to make them white,
{white represents 'dikaisune' in the Greek - the total fulfillment
of spiritual maturity - means to keep advancing in spiritual
maturity no matter if the circumstances are good or bad}
{even}
to the time of the end . . .
{the fall of the independent Jewish Nation - this time to Rome -
it also refers to the Tribulation which is the end of the
current 5th cycle of Discipline that lasts through the Church Age -
the Doctrine of Intercalation really starts with the 'even' above}
because
it is yet for a time appointed.
{Note:
Between Daniel 2 verses 40 and 41 we have 'The Great Parenthesis'.
This is the Church Age. It was a mystery to the Old Testament
Believers - the time of Judah's 5th cycle of discipline. This also
occurs in Daniel 7 between verses 23 and 24; Daniel 9:26 in the
middle of the verse; Daniel 11 between verses 35 and 36 (here);
Psalms 22 between verses 22 and 23; and Isaiah 61 between 1 and 2.}
{Jewish
Dictator of the Tribulation - see also Revelation 13:11 and following}
36~~Then
the king
{melek - RBT says refers to the Jewish 'Beast dictator'
in the Tribulation - an unbeliever}
will
do/manufacture
{'asah - out of his negative volition}
according
to his own will
{means an absolute dictator}.
He
will both magnify and glorify himself
above
every god {'el},
and
shall speak blasphemous things
against
the God {'El} of gods {'el}.
And
he shall be successful
till
the Tribulation/indignation be completed
for
that which has been decreed {in eternity past}
shall
be accomplished/done {in time}.
37~~He
will not understand
{the eternal Truth of the existence of God or His Mandates}
the
Godhead/'Elohiym of his fathers
{Abraham, etc. - he is a Jew from the line of Dan per Genesis 49},
nor
has the 'desire {chemdah} of women'
{in the Revelation series, RBT says this means the Beast is a
degenerate - in this case a homosexual. In the Daniel series,
RBT says this also might mean this man does not allow women
to control his empire - like some 'Harem Rulers' allowed women to
do},
nor
recognize any god {'elowahh}
{in the Revelation series, RBT says this means the Beast is an
atheist. In the Daniel Series, RBT says this also might mean the
Jewish Dictator initially does not initially follow the ecumenical
religion headed by the Beast Dictator of the Revived Roman
Empire}.
For
he shall glorify himself above all
{above God and all creatures - means he is a megalomaniac}.
{Note:
Chemdah means sexual desire or conjugal love.}
{Prelude
to Invasion from the East in the Tribulation -
See
Revelation 16}
38a~~But
in his status quo
{as an absolute dictator}
he
shall 'make a treaty with'/give honor to'
the
'god {'elowahh} of fortified cities'
{idiom: literally 'give honor to' but here means to make a treaty -
the Old Roman Empire was an 'empire of fortified cities'}.
38b~~Even
to a god {'elowahh}
whom
his fathers did not know
{in the Daniel series, RBT says now the Jewish Beast Dictator
WILL turn to the head of the 'World Counsel of Churches
(ecumenical religion) and form an alliance with the Dictator
of the Revived Roman Empire}
shall
he honor
with
gold, and silver, and with precious stones,
and
other valuable commodities.
{Note:
This ties the Old Roman Empire to the revived Roman Empire of the
Tribulation. The Jewish Dictator will form an alliance with the head
of the Roman Empire. From Revelation 16, we see that both are in
league with Satan.}
39~~Thus
shall he do in the most strong holds
with
{with the help of} a strange god,
{'strange god' in the sense of the head of this
new religious leader - the Roman Beast Dictator}
and
with the help of those who acknowledge him
{his fellow gangsters who bring him into power}
he
shall increase them with glory
{so we know he is not the real Messiah, but a false messiah.
The true Messiah will divide the land according to the tribes;
the false messiah will divide the land among his gangster friends}
and
he shall cause them to rule over the many
{'the many' is a technical term for the Jews}
and
he shall divide the land for gain
{not according to the tribes and not based on the principle
of spirituality - this division will be sold for his own financial gain}.
{Note:
This all introduces a dictator living in the Tribulation, and this
dictator is going to be involved because of his alliance in an
all-out war.}
{Verse
40: Background for Zechariah Chapter 12}
{The
pronouns must be watched, they give us the clue as to what is going
on here.}
40a~~At
the time of the end
{end of the Tribulation}
shall
the king of the south
{the Pan-Arabic bloc in the Tribulation - South of Palestine}
'push
at'/'make an attack at' him {the dictator}
{this starts a war in the Middle East. But they do not succeed
because someone gets there first - the king of the north.
This means that the Jews have a good enough army to resist
and to hold out the Arabs}
and
the king of the north shall come against him
{if things remain as today, this will be the Russian Communist block
- as soon as the king of the north discovers that the Arabs are
attacking he makes two attacks, one by sea via the
Mediterranean, and one by land through Palestine from the north}
like
a whirlwind,
{with great speed - like the blitzkrieg of Germany}
with
chariots {armored forces},
and
with horsemen {mobile forces},
and
with many ships.
40b~~And
he shall enter into the countries
and
shall overflow and pass through/over.
Note:
This is an overall statement as to his objective. He is moving
though and controlling the main road, but not stopping to take all
small towns along the way. His objective is to take Africa. So,
moving through Palestine is just a necessity to achieve the objective
of the king of the north.}
41~~
"He {king of the north}
shall
enter/invade also into the glorious land {Palestine},
and
'the many'
{title for the Jews throughout the book of Daniel}
shall
be overthrown
{the Palestinian government will be overthrown and this also
indicates many uninformed Jews (believers and unbelievers)
will be killed}
but
these
{the Jews of the first half of the Tribulation who are now saved
and quickly understand doctrine - they know to flee to the
mountains}
shall
escape out of his hand,
Edom,
Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.
{these mountain areas are where the believing, mature believers
understand by studying doctrine that they are to flee
in the first half of the Tribulation.}
{Note:
See also Matthew Chapter 24. this refers to the Jews in these three
mountainous areas who believed the Word of God, who followed the Word
of God, who make the Word of God their life, and because they make
Bible doctrine their life they live - are delivered. They endured to
the end of the Tribulation. They are delivered because they followed
the principle: "Man shall not live by bread alone but be every
word that proceeds out of the mouth of God" (Deuteronomy 8:3),
and doctrine is real to them, is important to them, and they are
delivered. }
{Verse
42-43: Back to the Campaign - King of the North Invades Africa}
42~~He
{the king of the north}
shall
'seize violently by'/'stretch forth' his hand
upon
the country
{he overflows these countries}
and
the land of Egypt shall not escape.
{Note:
The armies of the king of the north are passing through now, they do
not touch Edom, Moab or Ammon.}
43a~~But
he shall 'have power'/rule
over
the treasures of gold and of silver,
and
over all the precious things of Egypt.
43b~~And
the Libyans and the Ethiopians
at
his steps.
{meaning 'in his agenda of conquest'}
{Note:
'At his steps' means an agenda of conquest. In other words, he is
going to conquer all of Africa so he has a twofold plan: 1. Army
group "A" will move west along the coast of Africa and take
it. It is important that he control the Mediterranean coast since his
navy is going to operate in the Mediterranean. But he is taking Army
group "B" and moving south toward Ethiopia. Objective:
strategical conquest of Africa. He will use a strategic envelopment
combined with a strategic penetration.}
{Verse
44: King of the North is Cut off}
44a~~But
tidings out of the east
and
out of the north
shall
trouble him {king of the north}.
{Note:
There is a naval battle in the Mediterranean. The king of the west
also has a navy and there is a naval battle north of Egypt in which
the navy of the king of the north is decisively defeated. He is cut
off by sea from his base of supply. The kings of the east (Revelation
16:12) also have crossed the Euphrates and moved into the land
(Isaiah 63). They cut off the strong points of the king of the north,
and when this happens the king of the north has to go back and open
up his supply lines. He cannot launch his attacks. His first and last
stop in opening up his supply lines is Jerusalem, and this ties back
into Zechariah Chapter 12 verse 1.}
44b~~Therefore
he {King of the North}
shall
go forth with great fury
{means in his frustration for having to back-track
he will not show mercy on the Jews}
to
destroy,
and
shall cause to destroy 'many'
{technical for the Jews - 'make you as many as the stars in the
sky' the king of the north will kill many Jews}.
45~~And
he {the king of the north}
shall
plant his 'palatial tents' {command posts}
between
the seas and the glorious holy mountain {Mount Zion}.
Yet
he shall come to his end
and
no one shall help him.
{Note:
What is between the seas and the glorious holy mountain? The
glorious holy mountain is the western escarpment of Jerusalem. So if
you draw a line through the western escarpment of Jerusalem between
the Dead Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, you have a command post right
on the western edge of Jerusalem. And so this is where this great
army winds up and the Jews are looking at one of the most powerful
armies in the world, commanded by a man who seeks their destruction,
and the question is: what are they going to do about it?
In
Jerusalem there are two kinds of Jews: believers and religious
unbelievers. The unbelievers surrender; the believers hold out.}
