Hosea Chapter 2
1
Say you unto your brethren, Ammi;
2
Plead with your mother . . . plead . . .
Let
her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight,
3
Lest I strip her naked,
4
And I will not have mercy upon her children . . . 5 For their mother has played the harlot.
She
who conceived them has done shamefully . . .
6
Therefore, behold, I will hedge up your way with thorns,
7
And she shall follow after her lovers,
And
she shall seek them,
Then
shall she say,
8
For she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil,
9
Therefore will I return,
10
And now will I discover her lewdness
11
I will also cause all her mirth to cease,
12
And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees,
And
I will make them a forest,
13
And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, {Note: The Phallic cult was a mixture of sex and religion. They would usually go up a hill in a grove of trees where a figure of a fat man was set up. They would have a sexual orgy. And, to increase the experience, they would throw their children into the fire and continued their activities to the screams of the dying. The analogy then is of the faithless wife of Hosea to the faithless 'right people' (Israel) and God.}
14
Therefore, behold, I will allure her,
{Israel
has Drifted from the Lord But He is Faithful And Calls them to Return}
And
she shall sing there,
16
"And it shall be at that day,"
For
I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth,
18
"And in that day will I make a covenant for them
And
I will break the bow and the sword 19 And I will betroth you unto Me forever.
Yes,
I will betroth you unto Me 20 I will even betroth you unto Me in faithfulness. And you all shall know Jehovah/God."
21
"And it shall come to pass in that day,
22
And the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil . . .
23~~Therefore
I sow her for Myself in the land.
And
I will 'love tenderly'
Furthermore,
I {God} will say to those who were not My people And they shall say, "You are my 'Elohiym/Godhead". {Note: Paul quoted from this verse in Romans 9:25.}
