Chapter 4
1~~'Hear,
listen and obey' {shama'}
the
Word/'doctrinal communication' {dabar}
of
the Jehovah/God
{bible doctrine or Truth},
you
children of Israel {Northern Kingdom}
for
the Lord has a case/lawsuit/controversy
against
the citizens of the land {client nation},
because
there is nothing of doctrine being taught {no truth},
nor
grace being applied {mercy},
nor
is there anything of 'knowing God in the client nation {land}.
{Results
of the Lack of Bible Doctrine in the Land}
2~~
Instead there is lying and deceiving
{examples of false business practice in the land};
and homicide and stealing
and
committing rape
{idiom: literally 'they break in and commit adultery'}
{three examples of the violation of the common laws in any nation};
therefore
there is violence in the land
{idiom: literally 'blood reaches out and touches blood'
mob violence and no respect for the rights of others}.
3~~For
this cause/therefore
{because the lack of doctrine results in poor business conditions,
no respect for common laws or privacy and then there is violence
in the land},
the land {client nation} shall mourn,
and
every one that lives in it shall 'lose strength'
{weakness of character}
along
with the animals of the field
and
the birds of the sky . . .
yes,
the fishes of the sea also shall be destroyed/'taken away'
{just as when Adam fell the land was cursed, the creatures around
people suffer when men lose character by lacking in the intake of
doctrine}.
4~~Only
let no one {the reversionistic believer}
strive
another
{here this means to try to destroy the authority
of someone who communicates doctrine - see verse 6}.
Nor impugn any one {who teaches doctrine}.
Since
your citizens resemble
those
who try to destroy
{the
authority of} the priest.
5~~
Therefore you have stumbled
{into reversionism or interlocking systems of arrogance or both}
in
daylight
{in the presence of good doctrinal teaching},
even
the prophet will stumble with you
in
'night darkness'
and
I will destroy your mother
{idiom referring to the client nation's form of government}.
6~~My
nation is destroyed
because
of lack of knowledge {of doctrine}
because you have rejected knowing doctrine,
therefore
I will reject you from being a client nation to Me
{idiom: literally ' a priest to me' - in the sense of the entire nation
being a priest to God}.
Since
you have rejected doctrine of your God,
I
even I will neglect your citizens.

As they were increased,
so
they sinned against Me.
Therefore will I change their glory into shame.
8
They eat up the sin of my people,
and
they set their heart on their iniquity.
9~~
And there shall be,
like
people,
like
priest.
And
I will punish them for their ways,
and
reward them their doings.
10
For they shall eat,
and
not have enough:
they
shall commit whoredom,
and
shall not increase . . .
because
they have left off to take heed to Jehovah/God.
11 Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.
12
My people ask counsel at their stocks,
and
their staff declares unto them . . .
for
the spirit of whoredoms has caused them to err,
and
they have gone a whoring from under their 'Elohiym/Godhead.
13
They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains,
and
burn incense upon the hills,
under
oaks and poplars and elms,
because
the shadow thereof is good.
Therefore
your daughters shall commit whoredom,
and
your spouses shall commit adultery.
14
I will not punish your daughters
when
they commit whoredom,
nor
your spouses when they commit adultery . . .
for
themselves are separated with whores,
and
they sacrifice with harlots . . .
therefore
the people that do not understand shall fall.
15
Though you, Israel, play the harlot,
yet
let not Judah offend.
And
come not you unto Gilgal,
neither
go you up to Bethaven,
nor
swear . . .
Jehovah/God
lives.
16 For Israel slides back as a backsliding heifer.
Now Jehovah/God will feed them as a lamb in a large place.
17 Ephraim is joined to idols.
Let him alone.
18 Their drink is sour.
They have committed whoredom continually.
Her rulers with shame do love {'ahab}.
Give you.
19
The wind has bound her up in her wings,
and
they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.
