II
Chronicles
Chapter
12
1~~And
it came to pass,
when
the kingdom of Rehoboam
was
established and was strong,
that
he and all Israel with him
forsook
the law of Jehovah/God
{reversionism of believers - beginning of evil policies}.
{Note:
Verses 1-12 is important to understand Psalms 89:18.}
2-3~~Therefore
it
{divine discipline for evil activities}
occurred
in Rehoboam's fifth year
because
they had been unfaithful to Jehovah/God . . .
so
that Shishak, king of Egypt,
came
up against Jerusalem, 3~~
with
twelve hundred chariots,
and
60,000 cavalry/horsemen
and
the infantry who came with him were innumerable . . .
the
Libyans {Luwbiy},
the
Sukkiims {North African Arabs},
and
the Ethiopians.
4~~And
he {Shishak}
captured
the fortified cities of Judah,
and
came as far as Jerusalem.
5~~Then
Shemaiah the prophet
{a great doctrinal teacher}
came
to Rehoboam and to the princes of Judah,
who
had gathered together at Jerusalem because of Shishak,
and
said unto them,
"Thus
says Jehovah/God, you have forsaken Me,
so
I also have abandoned you to Shishak."
6~~So
the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves
{meaning they rebounded and started their reversion recovery}.
And
they said, "Jehovah/God is righteous".
7~~And
when Jehovah/God saw that they humbled themselves,
the
Word of Jehovah/God came to Shemaiah, saying,
"They
have humbled themselves.
Therefore
I will not destroy them,
but
I will grant them in a little while 'an escape'/'a deliverance'
and
My wrath shall not be poured on Jerusalem by means of Shishak.
8~~Nevertheless
they will become his slaves,
so
that they may learn to distinguish between My service
and
the service of the kingdoms of other countries.
9~~So
Shishak, Pharaoh/king of Egypt,
came
up against Jerusalem,
and
took away the treasures of the house of Jehovah/God,
and
the treasures of the king's palace.
He
took everything . . .
including
the shields of gold which Solomon had made
{circa BC 921}.
10~~Then
the king Rehoboam
{crisis is over - Shishak has taken all the great wealth David and
Solomon had accumulated and now has gone}
made
shields of brass in their place,
and
entrusted them into the care of the captain of the guards,
who
guarded the gates of the king's palace.
11~~And
it came to pass,
that
as often as the king entered into the house of Jehovah/God,
the
guards came and carried them {the bronze shields},
and
carried them back again into the guard room armory.
12~~And
when he humbled himself
{rebound and reversionism recovery},
the
anger of Jehovah/God turned from him,
so
as to not destroy him completely.
Consequently,
conditions became good in Judah.
13a``
So king Rehoboam grew strong in Jerusalem and reigned.
Rehoboam
was one and forty years old when he began to reign,
and
he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem . . .
the
city which Jehovah/God had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel,
to
establish His {God's} name there.
{Note:
In Jewish style, the summary is given first, then important details
are given after (the reverse of English style of writing) -
Explanations then of his reversionism are briefly detailed}
13b``And
his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess
{among other things, the Ammonites worshipped false gods}.
14``And
he {Rehoboam} did evil . . .
because
he prepared not his 'right lobe'/heart
to
seek Jehovah/God
{means he did not have positive volition to the study of God's Word
- so if you do not operate on God's divine viewpoint, you use your
own human ways - and your ways are not His Ways - so he was in
reversionism and doing evil - so this is telling us most likely that
his mother taught him her 'religion' instead of God's Word}.
15``Now
the deeds of Rehoboam, early and late
are
recorded in the chronicles of Shemaiah the prophet,
and
of Iddo, the seer, in the manner of genealogy.
There
was continuous war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam.
16``And
Rehoboam slept with his fathers
and
was buried in the city of David.
And
Abijah, his son, reigned in his place.
