Isaiah

Chapter 61

1-2~~The Spirit of the Lord/'Adonay God/Jehovah
is upon me {says Christ}
because Jehovah/God {God the Father}
has anointed me to preach good tidings unto the afflicted.

He has sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to those who are bound . . . 2a~~
to proclaim the acceptable year of Jehovah/God
  {Jesus quoted through here in Luke 4:17-19}, 2b~~
and the day of vengeance
  {begins 2nd advent}
of our 'Elohiym/Godhead;
to comfort all that mourn.
  {Jesus did not quote this part in Luke because this pertains to the
  2nd Advent}.

{Note: Believers before the cross were held in Abraham's bosom in the center of the Earth. As Jesus' soul left the cross, one of the things He did was to go to lead the "captives" up to heaven. His sacrifice on the cross "perfected" their salvation and now they could go to heaven with Him. He was the "first-fruits" and went first.}

{Note: Between Daniel 2 verses 40 and 41 we have 'The Great Parenthesis'. This is the Church Age. It was a mystery to the Old Testament Believers - the time of Judah's 5th cycle of discipline. This also occurs in Daniel 7 between verses 23 and 24; Daniel 9:26 in the middle of the verse; Daniel 11 between verses 35 and 36; Psalms 22 between verses 22 and 23; and Isaiah 61 between 2a and 2b (here). Remember the original manuscripts were not numbered.}

3 To appoint unto those who mourn in Zion,
to give unto them beauty for ashes,
the oil of joy for mourning,
the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
that they might be called trees of righteousness,
the planting of Jehovah/God,
that He might be glorified.

[Note: Man does not live by bread alone but by every Word that proceeds from His Mouth. Doctrine is the food that truly sustains. The Tree of Life is representative of the immediate source of this food from which mature believers feed. They become trees understanding and applying the righteousness of God. He "planted" the thoughts. He is the ultimate source of sustaining doctrine.]

4 And they shall build the old wastes,
they shall raise up the former desolations,
and they shall repair the waste cities,
the desolations of many generations.

5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks,
and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen
and your vinedressers.

6a But you shall be named the Priests of Jehovah/God;
men shall call you the Ministers of our 'Elohiym/Godhead.

[Note: We learn in the NT that every believer in Jesus Christ in the Church Age shares all that He is and has. He is the Great High Priest forever and ever. We share in His priesthood. Do you not know that you are a Nation of Priests? Every believer in Christ is a priest. That is why in the Church Age, we are blessed to communicate directly with God through the Great High Priest . . . and we should use I John 1:9 first to make sure you are in fellowship.]

6b You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles,
and in their glory shall you boast yourselves.

7 For your shame you shall have double;
and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion.

Therefore in their land
they shall possess the double.

Everlasting joy shall be unto them.

8 For I Jehovah/God love judgment,
I hate robbery for burnt offering;
and I will direct their work in truth,
and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.

9 And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles,
and their offspring among the people.

All who see them shall acknowledge them,
that they are the seed which Jehovah/God has blessed.

10 I will greatly rejoice in Jehovah/God,
my soul shall be joyful in my 'Elohiym/Godhead.

For he has clothed me with the garments of salvation,
he has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments,
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

[Note: Jesus is the bridgegroom and the Church Age believers are called the body of Christ in time. After phase II (life after salvation), the body becomes the bride of Christ in heaven.]

11`` For as the earth brings forth her bud,
and as the garden causes
the things that are sown in it to spring forth;
so the Lord/'Adonay God/Jehovah
will cause righteousness
and praise to spring forth
before all the nations.

[Note: As with the seeds of flowers that "die" to feed new plants for growth, Paul explains that we must "die" (lose our Earthly body of corruption/destructibility) in order to receive our new resurrection body of incorruptibility.]
