James Chapter 3 1~~My brothers {Jewish believers}, definitely stop becoming many teachers, knowing that we shall take on ourselves a more severe execution of judgment. {Note: 'Many teachers' means in the Church . . . stop critiquing the local pastor teacher, thereby, interfering with the authority of the pastor-teacher of the local church.} {Note: The divine discipline for criticizing the pastor- teacher is double and triple discipline from God.} 2~~Now we all commit many sins. If any one does not commit sin in what he says {sins of the tongue}, the same person is a mature Noble person . . . able to control the entire body   {as a bridle in a horse's mouth controls the whole horse}. {Verses 3 and 4 are illustrations about the tongue which is both a blessing and a curse! - the window to the soul is not the eye but the tongue!} 3~~Now if {1st class condition} we put bits in the horses' mouths, for the purpose that they may obey us - and we do - . . . then also, we may change the direction of their entire body. 4~~Behold also the ships . . . being so large, and propelled under the influence of strong winds . . . yet it is so directed under the influence of a very small rudder in what direction the will of the one who does the steering {quartermaster or helmsman} determines. {Note: This verse means the ship is big but the rudder is small. Yet the rudder controls where the ship will go. Next we wee it is the same with the tongue. It is small but 'controls' the whole body.} 5~~In this way the tongue keeps on being a small part of the body, but keeps on boasting great things. Look, how such a small fire burns up such a large forest! 6~~And the tongue is a fire . . . the cosmos of the wickedness. The tongue is placed in the structure of our anatomy . . . as that which contaminates the entire body . . . and sets on fire the cycle of existence   {the pattern of action and reaction in life} . . . and being set on fire by the agency of Hell! {Note: Hell is literally 'gehenna' and Gehenna was the valley outside of Jerusalem . . . where garbage was dumped and was always burning. It became an idiom for Hell.} 7~~For every kind of animals, and of birds, and of reptiles, and of marine life is being controlled, and has been controlled 'by the essence belonging to man'. {SideNote: An interesting side point is brought out here . . . God is ONE in essence but THREE in persons. Mankind is ONE in essence but MANY persons.} 8~~But no one of mankind is able to tame or control the tongue . . . unstable, restless, evil, filled with death bringing venom. 9~~By means of this tongue we keep on speaking well of the Lord and the Father. And by means of this same tongue we keep on execrating {bad rapping, maligning, etc.} mankind . . . having come into being according to the likeness of God. 10~~Out of the same mouth emanates blessing and cursing. My brethren {conclusion} . . . there is no need for these things to come to pass in this manner {idiom: literally 'there is an answer to this'}. 11~~Does the well emit out of the same opening sweet water and bitter water? 12~~My brethren, is it possible for a fig tree to bear olives? Can a vine bring forth figs? So neither can a fountain both yield salt water and fresh. {SideNote: A fig tree was used as an analogy for the Jews. And olive branches were an analogy for the Gentiles/Greeks.} 13~~Who is wise {lots of doctrine in the soul . . . SuperGrace type} and understanding among you? Let him demonstrate his production from an honorable manner of life in the sphere of grace application of orientation. 14~~But if you (reversionists) have bitter jealousy and contention in your hearts - and you do - stop boasting . . . and stop lying against what is true. 15~~This wisdom is not descending from above! But is on the Earth (the devil is the ruler of the Earth) . . . soulish . . . coming from demons. {Note: If your norms and standards are not based in bible doctrine, then you are applying earthly norms and standards to experience.} 16~~For in what place is jealousy and contentiousness? THERE . . . is instability and every vile practice. 17~~But the wisdom from above is first of all pure . . . then peaceable . . . and reasonable . . . and teachable. Filled with mercy . . . divine good production - without partiality . . . and without hypocrisy. 18~~Now the harvest {Super Grace} of the edification complex {of the soul} is sown in benefit to the ones producing the benefit. {Note: The harvest is the daily intake of doctrine. In SuperGrace you reap what God SOWS. In reversionism, you reap what you sow.
