James Chapter 2 {Production of Operational Death versus 1-16 and Reverse Process Reversionism (RPR). RPR reverses the natural course of loving the one you love and you hurt the one you love. Instead, in RPR you give your time and affections to someone you do not care about} 1~~ My brethren   {members of the family of God -here Jews} . . . not in the sphere of partiality {do not exhibit partiality} . . . shall you have and hold faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Glory. 2~~ For if there should enter into your local assembly {church} a man of consequence with gold fingers, in magnificent robes. And there entered in at the same time a beggar who is poverty stricken . . . in horribly stinking rags. {Note: "Mr. Gold Fingers here is a rich man. In these days, a rich man wore lots of gold rings.} 3~~ But you show 'partiality to'/'dolt on' the one carrying the magnificent clothing and you should say, "Be seated in this place . . . honorably." But you say to the poor, "You . . . stand there!   {in an out of place position} Or sit here beside my footstool". {Note: The usher seats the rich guy is a position of prominence, but seats the poor one out of the way or at his own feet.} 4~~ Are you not being partial/discriminating in your mind? Yes, you have! And, have you not become critics with malignant thoughts? Yes, you have! {Application of above principal with biblical viewpoint} 5~~ Concentrate, my beloved brethren {Jewish believers} . . . has not The God elected the poor of this world - but wealth in faith {by means of the accumulation of doctrine} . . . heirs of the kingdom which He has promised to them that love Him? {Note: The 'poor of the world' here are poor in the details of life, but they are NOT poor in spiritual maturity - they are rich!} {Application with common sense viewpoint} 6~~ But you have dishonored the poor   {the man above- sit on floor next to my stool}. Certain rich men {Mr. Gold Fingers himself}, do they not oppress you? And do they not violently drag you into courts of law? {Note: James is using an actual example here. Mr. Gold Fingers apparently had actually taken the usher to court and sued him but still the usher kowtows to him because of his earthly wealth.} {Application with logical viewpoint} 7~~ Do they not keep on maligning that honorable name by which you are surnamed? {Note: This verse is referring to 'Jesus Christ' . . . once you believe, your new surname is 'Christian'.} 8~~ If you carry out the Royal Law   {the spiritual law for believers only} according to the norm or standards of scripture -and I assume you will do this - "You shall love those in your periphery {neighbors} as yourself . . . honorably." {Note: This is ALL neighbors here not just the rich. This is impersonal love here which is love based on who and what YOU are, not based on who and what the object of the love is.} 9~~ But, if on the other hand, you keep on showing partiality, you become occupied with the sin nature, being convicted under the authority of the {Royal} law as a violator. 10-11~~ For whosoever regard the entire law   {the Mosaic Law which is for believers and non-believers} . . . and yet stumble in one commandment . . . he has become guilty of all! {Note: The wages of sin is death - spiritual death. If you only sin once in your entire life, you are as guilty as someone who broke every Mosaic Law possible - from the divine point of view!} 11~~ For the one {Moses} who said, "Do not commit adultery", also said, "Do not commit murder." Now if you do not commit adultery . . . but you commit murder . . . you have become a violator of all the {Mosaic} law. {Basic Law of Christianity - Freedom} 12~~ So keep on speaking . . . and so keep on doing {divine good} . . . as they who through the law of freedom are about to receive judgment {Judgment Day} 13~~ For judgment without mercy {grace in action} . . . for those not having done mercy {grace in function} . . . and mercy exhorts over or boasts over judgment. {James is discussing the subject now from the viewpoint of the Unbeliever looking at Christianity} 14~~What advantage if any one {an unbeliever } alleges my brethren - maybe he will allege, maybe he will not allege - he has faith . . . and have not works?   {divine production based on bible doctrine} Can faith save him? {Note: Faith alone can not save you. Faith MUST have an object. The object for salvation is Faith in Jesus Christ. Once saved, faith expands to the 'Mind of Christ'/'bible doctrine' . . . as the object. Without bible doctrine in your norms and standards in the soul, you do not produce 'divine good' - faith without doctrine is an empty gun.} {Illustration of Verse 14} 15-16~~ If {walked up} a male believer or female believer in a state of inadequate clothing and being deficient of daily food, 16~~ and one from among you should say to him/her, "GO AWAY . . . GO AWAY . . . in peace . . . keep on being warmed and filled with food . . . but you do not give to them those things that are necessary for the body . . . what does it profit? {Note: Here the reversionistic believer in hypocrisy is giving 'nice Christian talk' but not 'Christian Action'. Words without actions is spiritual operational death. Example of not having doctrine in your soul and therefore not being able to apply doctrine to experience.} {Note: God's plan of grace says to feed them first. If they stay to hear the word OK, it they leave, that is OK also. In Greek sentence structure, these questions need an answer but are only answered by how you 'live your life'.} {SideNote: Charity is for the helpless poor . . . but welfare makes the poor helpless.} {Note: Illustration of what some wrong thinking people think the object of Christianity is follows in 17-20. Right answer comes later and that is . . . Faith must have an object.} 17~~ Even so . . . the faith . . . if it does not have productions {of divine good} - maybe it will, maybe it will not - {the faith} keeps on being observably dead/'a corpse' . . . according to the standard of itself. {Debater's technique in Classical Greek follows - hypothetical conversation of a strawman} 18~~ Yes, but someone will say, "You keep on HAVING and holding a FAITH   {singular - a faith without an object or dangling without bible   doctrine} . . . and I have and hold works   {plural, in the debaters technique, plural is stronger then singular}, begin to demonstrate to me your faith apart from works! And I will demonstrate my faith out from the source of my works! {Note: The strawman's example here is he will show his 'spirituality' by passing out literature, walking an isle, etc. This is the type of person in reversionism who says " you study to much doctrine instead of witnessing, or doing something". In the debater's technique, you set out a premise to prove it wrong.} {Strawman continues. He is a jerk . . . and an Unbelieving Jew} 19~~ You believe . . . "One is the God." Do you do beneficially? The devils {fallen angels} also believe, and tremble. {Note: In the first sentence, this is saying 'does your faith produce anything?' In the second sentence, James is saying the fallen angels also believe in Jesus! And, this causes them to tremble . . . thinking of the eternal lake of fire is a reality to them. It is just a question of when.} 20~~ But are you willing to learn from experience of study, O empty of doctrine man? That the faith apart from works keeps on being an obvious corpse? {Note: Negative volition to bible doctrine means there is no object of faith. Without the doctrine in your norms and standards, you operate from human viewpoint instead of divine viewpoint and are obviously spiritually dead . . . as Jesus said - a whitewashed tombstone.} 21~~ Abraham, our father {James was a Jew by race}, having offered up Isaac his son on the burnt offering alter . . . was he not vindicated out from the source of works? {Note: Salvation is NOT in view here. Long after Abraham was saved by faith in Jesus, Abraham produced divine good when he followed God's command and offered Isaac as a sacrifice. This was 'divine production' as opposed to 'human viewpoint good'.} 22~~ Do you see how the faith {doctrine} kept on working together with his works? And out from the source of works, the faith {doctrine} was made perfect? {Note: Salvation + doctrine heard + doctrine accepted as truth = divine norms and standards in the soul. Filling of the Holy Spirit + doctrine in the soul = applying doctrine to experiences in life = divine production.} 23~~ And the scripture said,   {Genesis 15-6; II Chronicles 20-7 ; Isaiah 41-8} was fulfilled which "Abraham had believed in 'the manifest God' , and it was credited to his account for righteousness" and he was called the 'Friend {philos} of God.' {Note: Jehovah usually refers to God the father. But when it refers to the 'manifest God', it is referring to Jesus.} {Note: 'Philos' is very strong in the Greek. The LOVED ONE of God . . . occupation with Christ}." 24~~ Keep on seeing that out from the source of works a man is justified . . . and not by faith only. 25~~ Likewise {homoios} also was not Rahab the whore justified by works . . . when she having received the messengers {of Israel} . . . and had sent out another way? {Note: 'Homoios' meaning likewise or comparing Rahab the prostitute to the founder of the Jewish Race - Abraham!
