Job
Chapter
42
{Verses
1-6: Job Rebounds}
1-2~~Then
Job replied to Jehovah/God, and said, 2~~
"I
know that You can do all things.
No
plan of Yours can be thwarted.
3~~You
{God} asked,
"Who
is he who obscured My counsel without knowledge?"
Surely
I {Job} spoke of things I did not understand
{meaning "I knew the doctrine, but did not properly make the
application to experience'}.
Things
too wonderful for me to know.
4~~You
said, "Listen now and I {God} will speak . . .
I
will question you {Job} . . . and you will answer Me."
5~~My
ears have heard You . . . but now my eyes have seen You
{we do not 'see God' in person - this means Job 'sees' God through
His Word - He understands the doctrine}.
6~~Therefore
I condemn myself
{the self-judgement of rebound - I Corinthians 11:30-31 - 'if we
judge ourselves, we shall not be judged'}
I
'changed my mind' on dust and ashes.
{Note:
This is Job's confessing his sin of 'blaming God' in connection to
this 'evidence testing'.}
{Verses
7-17 Epilogue (Fantastically Difficult Ancient Hebrew Poetry)}
7~~And
it was so,
that
after Jehovah/God
had
said these words/'doctrinal communication' {dabar}s to Job
{the last few chapters were said in private},
Jehovah/God
said to Eliphaz the Temanite
{who by speaking first indicates he was the leader of the three
friends},
"I
am angry with you
{an anthropopathism - ascribing to God characteristics that He
does not possess as part of 'language of accommodation' so we
can understand},
and
against your two friends . . .
because
you have not spoken
that
which is accurate
with
reference to Me . . .
as
My servant Job has.
8~~Therefore,
you take now seven bullocks and seven rams
{this book predates the Mosaic Law - this is the rebound offering
that God required of Eliphaz and the other two}
and
go to my servant Job,
and
sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves . . .
and
My servant Job shall pray for you
{now in fellowship, Job is acting like a Priest and offering
intercessory prayer on behalf of his former friends} . . .
for
only his person {Job's} . . . will I {God} accept
that
I may not deal out to you
the
awful disgrace that you deserve . . .
for
you have not spoken accurately concerning Me . . .
as
My servant Job has.
9~~So
Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite
and
Zophar the Naamathite went,
and
did as Jehovah/God commanded them.
Jehovah/God
accepted the person of Job
{meaning God accepted the intercessory prayer of Job on behalf of
his friends}.
{Restoration
of Job's Escrow Blessings}
10~~After
he prayed for his friends,
Jehovah/God
restored the prosperity of Job.
Jehovah/God
gave Job twice as much as he had before
{God doubled Job's escrow blessings for time}.
{Restoration
of Job's Social Life}
11~~Then
came there unto him all his brothers, and all his sisters,
and
everyone who had known him before,
came
and dined with him in his castle.
And
they expressed their sympathy to him,
and
comforted him concerning all the disaster {evidence testing}
that
Jehovah/God had administered to him.
Every
man also gave him a 'large chunk of money'
{q@siytah - we do not know the currency they used back in this
day was probably like an ingot of gold or silver},
and
a gold ring.
{Perpetuation
of Job's Prosperity for 140 Years}
12~~Consequently,
Jehovah/God blessed
the
latter end of Job life more than the beginning {of his life}.
For
he had fourteen thousand sheep,
and
six thousand camels,
and
a thousand yoke of oxen,
and
a thousand she asses.
13~~Furthermore,
he had also seven sons and three daughters.
14~~He
named the name of the first {daughter}, Jemima
{Y@miymah - means 'a dove' - could refer to the dove off of Noah's
ark - a 'new beginning' and in Matthew we saw the Holy Spirit
came onto Jesus at His Baptism};
and
the name of the second Kezia
{Q@tsiy`ah means fragrance - means God is satisfied with a
mature believer - so their 'fragrance' is pleasing to Him - the
fulfillment of His Plan and remember it is God Who is Glorified};
and
the name of the third, Kerenhappuch
{Qeren Hap-puwk -' flashes of Glory' - God is glorified through
successful evidence testing of the mature believer}.
{Impact
of Blessings By Association}
15~~furthermore
in all the land
no
where were women found as beautiful as the daughters of Job.
And
their father gave them an inheritance along with their brothers
{remember in ancient times only the boys inherited - so this was a
big statement that Job was making}.
16~~After
this
{after the end of Job's evidence testing}
Job
lived one hundred and forty years.
He
saw his sons,
and
his sons' sons . . .
even
to four generations.
{Principal
of Dying Grace}
17~~Eventually
Job died . . .
an
old man . . .
and
full of very happy days.
