26~~(For
if we deliberately continue sinning {rejection of Christ} after
having received the full knowledge {epignosis}
of
{gospel type} doctrine {aletheia},
there
'is left behind'/remains
absolutely
no more sacrifice on behalf of sins.
{Note: Epignosis means 'over or above normal gnosis type knowledge. It refers to doctrine taught to you when you are filled with the Holy Spirit. Then, if you accept that doctrine as true, your human spirit takes it and places it in your right lobe (your conscience that holds the norms and standards in your soul where it can now be applied to experience. Aletheia is one of the Greek words for doctrine. Here it specifically is referring to the doctrine pertaining to salvation by Faith in Christ.}

27~~But
a certain terrifying expectation of judgment
and
fury of fire,
being
about to devour {esthio}
the
enemies {see also Isaiah 26:11}.
{Note: RBT says Esthio was used by the Greeks to describe eating where you take in food and chew and chew and chew but never swallow. Therefore, unbelievers will 'perish' in the lake of fire, but will never be fully consumed. Instead they will 'be chewed' (burn) forever and ever.}

28~~Anyone
having rejected the law of Moses . . .

{Note: This verse was a representative analogy with verse 27. It is the lesser violation to reject the Mosaic Law. The rejection of the Mosaic Law was physical death. The rejection of Christ is eternal 'death' - the lake of fire.}

how much more severe {objective} punishment {based on the facts},
do
you think he shall be worthy of deserving
the
one who has 'trampled under foot'/'treated with disdain' {negative
volition}the Son of God?
And
has considered common/unclean/ordinary
the
blood of the covenant {salvation work of Christ on the cross},
by
which he has been sanctified,
and
has insulted the Spirit of Grace {title of God the Holy Spirit}?
{Note: If the punishment for violating the Mosaic Law was physical death, how much greater should the unpardonable/'willful sin' of unbelief in Christ be?}
30~~For,
you see, we know Him {God} having said {Deuteronomy 32:35},
"Punishment
belongs to me, I will repay, said the Lord."
And
again {Deuteronomy 32:36}, "The Lord shall judge His people."

31~~A
terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God. )
32~~But
keep remembering again and again to yourselves
the
former days {when they were positive after salvation}, in which,
after
you had become enlightened {with bible doctrine in their soul}, you
held your ground in a great conflict of pressures/sufferings.
{Note: The people who were originally addressed had been positive in the past, and then fell into reversionism. In these days, a military advance was by 'taking ground and holding it' (no retreat). And then forward and hold again.}
{Note: As all believers advance, there are tests. Some are hard tests of pressures and suffering to use the doctrine in your soul. But some tests are tests of affluence and success. Not all tests are of the suffering type. So, rely on the Lord in your sufferings . . . but also keep your eyes on the SOURCE of the blessings when blessed!}

32 Developed - Reasons Why People Go into Reversionism}
33~~Partly
{sarcasm}, while you were being embarrassed/'publicly abused' both
by {verbal or visual} insults and pressures, and
Partly
{sarcasm}, having become friends/companions
of
them who were so treated.
{Note: Does being a Christian embarrass you? If it does, then you are in trouble. Unbelievers obviously will ridicule you. But, other believers will also pressure you or ridicule you for your strong belief in the Word. Anyone who takes a stand for the Lord, will be persecuted. Will you stand strong, or be embarrassed and retreat into reversionism?}
34~~For
you even demonstrated compassion
{disciplinary
and authoritative connotation}
to
the prisoners and you
accepted
to yourselves with happiness
the
plundering of your material possessions . . .
knowing
that in yourselves {resident in your souls}
that
you have and hold a better possession and
{one
which is} a constantly enduring possession.

Therefore, do not throw away as worthless,
{doctrine
in your soul producing} your confidence,
which
{category of confidence in doctrine}
keeps
having and holding a great/rich distribution
of
anticipated materialistic blessings {SuperGrace blessings}.
{Note: It is the 'value' of studying and applying doctrine, which the writer says the readers are throwing away. The rewards here are on EARTH in time and in HEAVEN in the future.}
36~~For
you keep on having need of perseverance,
in
order that, when you have accomplished the will of God,
you
might carry off for yourselves the promise {of SuperGrace blessing}.
37~~{Isaiah
26:20} For yet a little while, how short . . . how short,
{Habakkuk
2:3} the One {Jesus} coming will arrive and will not delay.
{Note: The Old Testament reference to Christ's coming was the Second Advent. Here the writer is applying the principal also to the rapture of the Church. And, in the context of Hebrews, we are talking about growing to spiritual maturity. So, here we are talking about the limited years of our lives in which we can daily intake the Word of God . . . to be ready in times of disaster. Yet, when the disaster hits, it is usually for only a short time.}
38~~{From
Habakkuk 2:4} Now My justified one {believer} himself
shall
live {zao} by means of doctrine
{ablative
of pistis - what is believed};
'and
so'/consequently, if - maybe yes, maybe no -
he
himself retreats {failure to follow the colors},
My
Soul {Divine attitude - refers to the essence of God}
shall
not approve/'have pleasure' in him.
{Note: Zao is the Greek word meaning to live with a purpose as opposed to just existing.}
39~~But
we, and only we, are not those of the retreating category {of
believers moving back away from doctrine} . . .
'for
the purpose of'/'designed for' destruction {sin unto death},
but
{we are} of them {doctrinal type}
for
the purpose of doctrinal possession by the soul.
