Jeremiah
Chapter
44 (continued)
26~~"Therefore
'listen, concentrate, and obey' {shama`}
the
doctrine {dabar} of Jehovah/God,
all
Judah who dwell
{yashab - still believers so potential blessings still}
in
the land of Egypt {no specific mention of the women}.
'Behold,
I have sworn by My great Name
{by the very essence of God, God vows this - there is nothing
Higher to take an oath}',
said
the Jehovah/God,
'definitely
not . . .
that
My Name shall no more be called
in
the mouth of any person of Judah, saying,
The
'Adonay/Lord Jehovah/God lives . . .
no
. . . not in all the land of Egypt. ' "
{Note:
Significant by its absence in the reference to the women mentioned
in verse 24. This means the men must assume the rightful role to
which God assigned them.}
27~~"Behold,
I will watch over them/'pursue the course' {shaqed}
for
evil {ra' - here used for the 'sin unto death'},
{means divine discipline will add to their self-induced misery}
and
not for good
{blessings under God's plan of grace or laws of establishment}.
And
all the men of Judah who are in the land of Egypt
shall
be destroyed {tamam - prophetic perfect - action completed in
mind of the writer}
by
the sword and by the famine,
until
they are all annihilated {kalah}."
28~~And
those who escaped {paliyt} the sword
shall
return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah -
a
small number only {small group of positive believers}.
And
all the remnant of Judah
{all the apostate types and the positive ones - all the Jews},
who
went to the land of Egypt
to
sojourn/'temporarily live' {guwr} there,
shall
know {yada`} whose words shall stand - mine or theirs.
{Verses
29-30: Prophecy of The Judgment on Egyptian Empire}
29~~"And
this . . . {shall be} a {historical} sign unto you,"
decreed
{n@'um} Jehovah/God,
"I
will punish you in this place,
that
you may know {yada'} that My Doctrines/Words {dabar}
being
established . . .
it
shall be established {quwm quwm} for evil."
{Note:
The doubling of quwm is very strong. Means this fact is set in God's
mind and IS going to happen. In 570 BC the Pharaoh is killed. And
then 3 years later in 567BC these Jews in Egypt will be overtaken by Chaldea.}
30~~Thus
said the Jehovah/God,
"Behold,
I will give Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt
into
the hand of his enemies {died in a revolution in 570BC},
and
into the hand of them who intensively seek {baqash}
his
soul/life {nephesh}.
Even
as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah
into
the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, his enemy,
and
them who intensively sought {baqash}
his
soul/life {nephesh}."
