12 (Continued)
26~~
"If anyone keeps on serving {diakoneo} Me {Jesus},
-
maybe they will, maybe they will not -
let
him keep on following Me,
{in the sense of following His pattern - study and application of
the Word}
and
where I am {heaven},
My
servant {diakonos} will be too.
And,
if anyone keeps on serving {diakoneo} Me,
-
maybe they will, maybe they will not -
the
Father will honor/glorify/'treat graciously' him."
{Note: Diakoneo is the word from which we get deacon and it does mean to serve. It means allowing God to produce divine good through you in time.}
{Verses
27-28: Jesus' Prayer}
27-28~~
"Now My soul {soul of the Humanity of Jesus Christ}
has
received pressure/'is greatly agitated'.
{He knows He is about to bear the sins of the World}
And
what should I say?
{How can Jesus express the horror of His touching sin?}
'Father,
deliver Me now 'out from'/'away from' this hour {the cross}'?
{All prayer is addressed to the Father. It is the Humanity of
Jesus praying here. And deliver is an imperative - it is a command.}
But
because of this {doctrines of salvation, reconciliation}
I
have come in a point of time
to
this hour. 28~~
Father,
glorify {doxazo} Your Name/Essence."
{doxazo again is an imperative. This command cancels out the one
in verse 27. Jesus knows it is a mandatory part of the Plan of the
Father that He go to the cross. And, again from the free will of His
humanity, He agrees to fulfill the plan of the Father - bringing
glory to His Name.}
Then
a voice {a voice only Jesus understood - from God the Father}
came
from heaven,
"I
have glorified it {in the past - eternity past},
and
I will glorify it again."
{What
the Gentiles Heard, then What the Jews Heard}
29~~The
people {the seeking Greeks}
that
stood there and heard the voice
kept
on saying that thunder has come to pass.
Others
of the same kind
{from the same group were Jews that joined them}
said
that an angel is speaking to Him.
{Note: The Gentiles did not have a strong Biblical background. So to them the voice of God sounded like thunder. The Jews deduced from their Old Testament background that it must have been an angel speaking to Jesus - neither group understood the language.}
30~~
Jesus 'had an answer'/'gave a discerning answer
from
the ultimate source of himself' {apokrinomai} and said,
"This
voice has not come for My benefit
but
because/'for the sake' of you all."
{Note:
The word answered is 'apokrinomai'. It is a compound
verb
. . . a preposition from the ultimate source . . . giving a
discerning answer based on knowledge. Krino means: 'to judge'.
Krinomai means: 'to be discerning in an answer'. Thus, the full
meaning of 'apokrinomai' is: "to give a discerning answer from
the ultimate source of ones self."}
31~~"Now
is the act of judgment of this world;
now
the prince/ruler of this world {Satan}
will
be thrown/cast outside." {Reference to Operation Footstool}
32~~"And
I {Jesus},
if
I am raised aloft {on the cross} from the earth,
-
maybe I will, maybe I will not -
{at that point, He could still refuse to do so}
I
will draw all people face to face with Myself."
{Note: Jesus will die on the cross as a substitute for ALL people whether they are believers or not. His act gives everyone the only equal opportunity there really is - and that is to be saved.}
33~~(This
{the illustrative discourse}
He
said to indicate clearly
what
kind of death He was going to die.)
{Verses
34-36: Light of the World Discourse}
34~~Then
the crowd 'had an answer'/'gave a discerning answer
from
the ultimate source of themselves' {apokrinomai} to Him,
"We
have heard from the law
that
the Christ will live and abide forever.
How
can you say,
'The
Son of Man must be raised aloft {die on the cross}'?
{Idiom expressing opposition to Jesus' statement}
Who
is this Son of Man?"
{Note: This came from the Jewish part of the crowd. They accurately quoted the Old Testament as saying the Christ will reign forever. To reign forever He must live forever, so how can He 'die'? These people are not saved, and are negative to God and His Word. So, Jesus will not answer directly, but again with a parable - He is the Light of the World!}
35~~Then
Jesus said to them,
"The
light is with you for a little while longer. {49 days}
Walk/'advance
toward a goal'
while
you have the light,
for
the purpose that the darkness
{5th cycle of discipline in time/lake of fire for eternity}
may
not 'overtake'/'surprise' you.
The
one who walks in the darkness
does
not know where he 'is going'/departs.
36~~While
you have the light {Jesus},
believe
in the light {believe in Jesus Christ - Salvation Solution},
for
the purpose that you may become sons/children of light {saved}."
These
things spoke Jesus.
Having
departed and, at a point in time,
hid
Himself from them.
{Note: Apparently the unbelieving Jews still were not responsive to His message. To make it to the cross, Jesus made Himself scarce.}
{Verses
37-50: Case of the Rejecting Nation}
{Rejection
of His Credit Card (Sign of Messiahship)}
37~~Although
He {Jesus}
having
performed so many miraculous signs before them,
they
{still} absolutely believed NOT {ouk} in Him.
{Verses
38-41: Reason for Rejection}
{Negative
volition in Their Soul}
38~~With
the result that,
the
saying/word of Isaiah the prophet
would
be fulfilled {Isaiah 53:1}.
He
said, "Lord, who has believed our doctrine {akoe}?
And
to whom has the 'Arm of the Lord'
{Jesus fulfilling the will of the Father}
been
unveiled from the ultimate source {of God}?"
{Note: Akoe is a Greek word for doctrine. It is the doctrine of salvation in view here. They were negative at the point of God consciousness and to all gospel messages they heard.}
{Rejection
from Viewpoint of Divine Essence}
39-40~~
Because of this
{maximum negative volition at gospel hearing}
they
'were not able/'did not have the power to' {dunamai} believe,
because
again Isaiah said {Isaiah 6:9-10}, 40~~
"He
{God - through His Divine Laws}
has
blinded their eyes {perceptive system of the soul}
-
with the result that they continue that way {perfect tense} -
and
calloused/scared their 'right lobes'/heart . . .
for
the purpose that
they
cannot see/'perceive' {oida} with their eyes
nor
understand/think {noeo} with their 'right lobes'/heart.
Indeed,
should they turn to me,
then
I would heal them."
{Note: Had so much scar tissue on the soul they could no longer respond to God's call for them to come to Him for salvation. David said 'my soul pants'. RBT says there is soul breathing. God initiates the relationship. He breaths out doctrine and if you are positive to the Word, you breath in/intake the Word. If you are negative, you fill the emptiness in your soul with false doctrines. This crap clogs up the breathing aperture of the soul to the point that you can no longer take in True doctrine - hardness of the heart.}
41~~These
things {about the problem of scar tissue on the soul}
Isaiah
said {Isaiah 6}
when
he saw His {Christ's} glory {doxa},
and
communicated/taught {laleo} concerning {peri} Him.
{Note: Doxa, which is translated 'glory', is all that God is. It is the word, which describes all the wonderful characteristics that make up the essence of God.}
{Verses
42-43: Neutralization of Believers - Negative to Doctrine - Scar Tissue}
42~~
But for all of that however,
even
from the chief rulers {Sanhedrin Counsel}
a
great number believed in Him {they were saved}.
But
because of the Pharisees {the legalistic crowd}
they
would not acknowledge/'state the case
without
emotion' {homologeo}
Jesus
to be the Christ,
so
that they would not 'be put out'/ostracized
from
the synagogue {sin of power lust}.
{Note: Homologeo is the verb used in rebound - I John 1:9. It means to state your case as in a court room setting. There is no emotion implied in the word. They were saved but would not acknowledge Him publicly. Only God knows the thoughts and intents of the heart!}
43~~
For they loved the glory/praise {doxa} of men
more
than the glory/praise {doxa} of God.
{Note: The opinion of men was more important then the opinion of God. They were still saved, just no growth. They were out of fellowship by the sin of power lust.}
{Verses
44:46: Plan of God Discourse}
44~~
Jesus shouted out {krazo},
"The
one who believes in Me does not believe in Me {only},
but
also in the One {God the Father} Who sent Me."
45~~"And
the one who 'sees in their soul' {theoreo} Me
'sees
in their soul' {theoreo} the One Who sent Me."
{Note: Theoreo is the word from which we get 'theory'. It means to see in the mind and soul. To view something mentally.}
46~~"I
{Jesus} have come
as
a light into the world,
so
that everyone who believes in Me
should
not remain in darkness."
{Note: This is salvation - 'walking in the light' - removal of scar tissue of the soul/darkness - light/True Doctrine cannot get in.}
{Verses
47-48: Alternative to the Plan of God}
47~~"If
anyone hears My {Jesus'} words
and
does not guard it
{per RBT phulasso is in the better translation 'guard'
'pisteuo' is in another translation means - 'and does not believe'}
-
maybe they will believe, maybe they will not believe -
I
do not judge him.
For
I have not come to judge the world,
but
to save the world.
{Note: Jesus is saying their free will is active while they are alive. He is not going to judge them, then and there. They can still change their mind and believe in Him until they take their dying breath. His job right now is to be the means of salvation for the entire human race.}
48~~"{He}
having rejected Me {Jesus} . . .
and
having not accepted My Words . . .
{that
one} has a judge.
The
doctrine/Word I keep on communicating/teaching {laleo}
will
judge him at the last day."
{Note: The basis for the judgment will be the Word of God. The Father will have the person up for judgment because he said, 'no, no, no' . . . to faith in Christ.}
{Verses
49-50: Executor of the Divine Plan}
49~~"
For I {Jesus} have not communicated/taught {laleo}
concerning
Myself {from My own authority},
but
the Father Himself Who sent Me
has
given Me a commandment
-
in the past and I am now fulfilling it -
what
I should say {lego}
and
what I should communicate/teach {laleo}."
50~~"And
I {Jesus} know/perceive/discern {oida}
that
His commandment is life everlasting.
Thus
the things I communicate/teach {laleo},
-
just as the Father 'flowed to Me'
{ereo - verbal communication was not necessary} -
so
I communicate/teach {laleo}."
{Note: He gave the commandment so you could have everlasting life.}
