Psalms {No Idolatry in Jerusalem under David - The 'Blind and The Lame will never Enter this House' See II Samuel 5:6. This Psalm was written about David defeating the Jebusites who held the hill top that is now Jerusalem for 400 years. David would take his men and scout the fortification of the Jebusites. He would yell up at the Jebusites that they relied on their false idols of war gods placed on their embattlements. He would say they are blind and can not walk! So, the Jebusites shouts in II Samuel 5:6 about the lame and the blind defending them! This has two meanings. First it means that their walls are so strong, their healthy soldiers can go relax and the lame and blind ones can defend the city from David. And, they are saying that the idols on their walls of their war gods will protect them against the Jews invisible God!}
1~~Not
to us . . . O Jehovah/God . . . not to us . . . But to Your Name give glory . . . because of Your Grace {checed} and because of Your Doctrine {'emeth}. 2~~Why should the gentiles {Jebusites in view} say, 'Where now is their 'Elohiym/God?' {Note: For 400 years the Jebusites were saying their gods were strong and they protect them. So where is this god of the Jews??? Slandering the Lord!} 3~~But our 'Elohiym/God . . . {is} in the heavens. He does whatever He pleases! {Note: Principal: Jesus Christ controls History!} 4~~Their idols are silver and gold . . . the work of men's hands.
{Identification
of the 'Lame and the Blind'} Eyes have they . . . but they see not {blind}.6~~ They have ears . . . but they can not hear {deaf}. Noses have they . . . but they can not smell. 7~~ They have hands . . . but they can not feel. Feet have they . . . but they can not walk. They can make no sound through their throats. 8~~Those who that make them . . . will become like them. So is every one who trusts in them. {Note: David is saying that the gods of the Jebusites are dead. And, the Jebusites who trust in them will be just like them - dead.} 9`` O Israel, trust in Jehovah/God! He is their help and their shield. 10``O house of Aaron . . . trust in Jehovah/God. He is their help and their shield.
11``O
you who fear . . . fear Jehovah/God . . . He is their help and their shield. 12`` Jehovah/God is mindful of us. He will bless us. He will bless the house of Israel. He will bless the house of Aaron. 13``He will bless them who fear Jehovah/God . . . both small and great. 14``May Jehovah/God increase your numbers . . . yours and your children's also. 15~~May you be blessed by Jehovah/God . . . the maker of heaven and earth. 16~~ The heavens are the heavens of Jehovah/God. But the earth He has given to the sons of men. 17~~The dead do not praise Jehovah/God {the Jebusites are now dead}. Nor do any who go down into silence. 18~~But as for us, we will praise Jehovah/God from this time forever. 'Praise Jehovah/God'/Hallelujah.
