Psalm Going up the Steps of the Temple'
{shiyr ma`alah - referring 'meditation for going into Church/Temple'
on each step, the Psalmist would quote a verse, then move up to
the next step - a step at a time
it is literally translated 'A Song of Degrees'}
1b~~How happy is every one that is occupied with Jehovah/God . . . {the one} who Walks in His Ways.
2~~
For you shall eat the labor of your hands
and
you will be happy,
and
it shall be well with you.
3~~
Your wife shall be as a fruitful vine
{respond to Husband's cultivation and be contented}
in
the innermost part of your house
and
your children like olive plants
{crushed into grapes - taught discipline and behave}
round
about your table.
4~~
And, thus shall the man be happy . . .
who
is occupied with Jehovah/God.
5-6~~Jehovah/God shall bless you out of Zion . . .
that
you may see the prosperity of Jerusalem
all
the days of your life 6``
and live to see your children's children.
May all be well with Israel!
{Note: The common causes of early death are mentioned. To see your grandchildren means you were militarily successful, economically prosperous (starvation), and free from disease.}
