Psalms {Note: This Psalm was written in the reign of Rehoboam - son of Solomon. Rehoboam was young and immature and therefore not a good king. He was not interested in God or His Word and therefore could not Walk in His Ways. Ephraim to the north was lead by Jeroboam and jealous of the tribe of Judea. They lead a revolt against Rehoboam.}
1a~~{Title}
A 'Psalm to Teach One How to Prosper through the learning of Bible
Doctrine' {Maschil} . . .
1b~~I
will sing forever of the 'many acts of grace' of Jehovah/God {Note: Israel is permanently wealthy. You can take their money, but you can not take the unconditional promise to David and his descendents that their greater son would rule forever. Their wealth is a spiritual wealth not material wealth.}
1c~~To
generation after generation, {Note: The author of this psalm is Ethan the Ezrahite. Ezrahite indicates that he was of the tribe of Levi and therefore a teacher of the Word of God. From I Kings 14, we learn that next to Solomon, Ethan was the smartest man in the land of Israel. When Solomon died, he became the smartest in the land (Solomon died at age 60 after reigning 40 years of no war. This psalm was written about the 5th year of the reign of Solomon's son Rehoboam. Rehoboam was a reversionist and because of this, he lost the 10 tribes of Israel in revolt and he lost all of David and Solomon's wealth in an attack by Shishak of Egypt. See I Kings 4:30-31.}
{Verses
2-4: Reference to God's Unconditional Contract with David Forever}
2b~~The
heavens {shamayim - the real Holy of Holies},
{Now
God Speaks through Ethan}
4~~Forever,
I will authorize/'cause to be established' {Note: In spite of the failure of Rehoboam, his son and his son will rule. God gave His Word. He is faithful even when the people are out under the 5th cycle of discipline - in that case, there is no Davidic king - but when there is a true Israel in Israel, the ruler will be from the line of David. And, it will be the everlasting reign of Jesus Christ Who will fulfill this unconditional promise of God.}
Selah
5~~And
the {angelic creatures in the} heavens
Furthermore,
Your faithfulness 6~~For who in the sky can be compared unto Jehovah/God?
Who
resembles Jehovah/God
7~~'El/God
{God with reference to His great Power}
8~~O
Jehovah/God . . . A mighty Yahh/God!
Therefore
Your faithfulness surrounds You! 9~~You keep on ruling the raging/swelling of the seas. When the waves rise up, You calm them. {Note: This is a reminder to Satan of who really rules the Earth. Satan does not control the seas or nature in general. That is still the realm of God.}
10~~You
have deliberately broken in pieces
You
have disbursed Your enemies with Your 'Strong Arm' 11~~The heavens are Yours. Also the Earth is Yours.
As
for the world and all it contains . . . {Note: God the Father is the author of the Plan. His 'Strong Right Arm' - Jesus Christ is the creator of all the universe and all in it. God rules the heavens and all the planets. But Satan is temporarily the Prince of the Earth until his trial - appealing the verdict of the lake of fire - is completed. Then Jesus Christ will return and rule forever and ever.}
{Palestinian
Covenant Mentioned} Tabor and Hermon, at Your Name, will shout for joy. {Note: This is a reference to the land grant - the Palestinian covenant. The north refers to the northern end of the land grant which RBT says is Turkey. The south refers to the southern boarder. Two mountains on either side of the Jordan River - that can be seen for miles - are Tabor (western side) and Hermon (eastern side). They are land marks for the Palestinian covenant marking for all time the land that eventually will belong to the Jews in the Millennium.}
{Hebrew
Triptych - 3 Messianic Phrases}
Your
hand is powerful
And,
High is Your 'Right Hand' {Note: Ethan is reminding the Jews that the same One Who saved you forever can also save you in time. RBT says this is like a person giving you a $100,000 necklace as a gift - and you asking for a paper bag to carry it in! Your salvation forever was the difficult work. Saving a nation in time from destruction is easy in comparison.}
14~~Righteousness
and justice are the foundation of Your throne
Grace
and doctrine shall 'precede Your face'/'go before You' {Note: Once saved, God's righteousness is imputed to the believer. Therefore God's justice is not compromised when God blesses the believer - no matter how big a stinker that believer is - that is propitiation. 'Grace' is the name of God's plan for all humanity - it is all God can do for all believers because of the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Grace and Doctrine/'His Word' precedes his integrity. Grace is the genius of God. Doctrine is the explanation of the genius of God. The throne here is a Messianic reference to the everlasting rule of Jesus Christ - He is absolute righteousness and absolute justice. God's integrity had to be satisfied before the crown. Therefore, the cross had to come first and precede His everlasting rule.}
{Verses
15-18: Description of a SuperGrace Believer}
O
Jehovah/God, they {the army} shall advance/march/walk, {Note: This last part is an analogy. A 'Light is thrown on the Face of God' through bible doctrine studied 'before Him'or 'in His presence'. {Note: This verse gives us two of the keys of how to preserve a client nation to God. One key is a strong military. The second key is for the individual soldiers having bible doctrine resident in their souls.}
16~~In
Your Name/Person {shem} O Jehovah/God, And in Your righteousness shall they be exalted.
17~~For
You, O Jehovah/God,
Because,
by Your grace, {Note: All people need to rely on the Lord. Do not 'push' to get yourself promoted, that is inordinate ambition. You are not truly promoted unless God promotes you. So, wait on Him - His timing is perfect.} 18~~For our shields {magen} . . . {belong to} Jehovah/God.
And
our king {Rehoboam} . . . {belongs to} the Holy One of Israel. {Note: RBT says it is important to study II Chronicles 12:1-12 to understand this verse. Solomon had made shields of gold that his guards carried. But Shishak took the shields of Solomon from Rehoboam. So Rehoboam tried to fool the people with bronze shields (that shone like gold). But, Ethan knew it made no difference. Shishak could not take the real gold out of Israel - bible doctrine in the souls of beleivers.}
{Davidic
Covenant is Reiterated} And said, "I have bestowed help upon a hero {David}.
I
{God} have promoted/'caused to exalt' one {David}
{God
Anoints David as King}
21~~With
whom {David} . . . My hand shall be firm. My Arm shall also make him strong!
22~~All
kinds of enemies {Satan and his policies of evil}
And
the 'sons of wickedness/
23~~And
I will rout/crush/shatter {kathath} I will strike down {nagaph} those who hate him.
{Conclusion
of Strophe}
And,
in My Name,
