Chapter
06 1~~Then Job replied/answered and said,
2-3~~"If
only my anguish could be weighed, No wonder my words {dabar} have been impetuous.
4~~The
arrows of the Almighty are within me, God's/'Elowahh's terrors are marshaled/'lined up' against me. 5~~Does a wild jackass bray when it has grass? Does an ox bellow when it has fodder?
6-7~~
Can something tasteless be eaten without salt? {Note: Remember Job is so ill almost all food makes him ill.}
8-10~~Oh
that I might have my request . . .
In
that {how Job can still remain happy}
11~~What
strength do I {Job} have, that I still have hope?
12~~Do
I have the strength of the stones?
13~~Do
I have any power to help myself . . .
14~~A
despairing man should have the devotion of his friends . . .

turn aside from their routes
19~~The
caravans of Tema looked {for water}, {Note: These caravans were going to China for trade in circa 2000 BC.}

{the caravans} were distressed They arrived there only to be disappointed {no water}.
21~~Now
you {Eliphaz} too have proved to be no help
22~~Have
I ever said to you {Eliphaz} 23~~Or, Deliver me from the hand of the enemy? Or, ransom me from the clutches of terrorism? 24~~Teach me, and I {Job} will be quiet. Show me where I have been wrong? {Note: Job is a mature believer. He understands that he is under undeserved suffering. He challenges the great theologian Eliphaz for him to show Job where he has sinned!} 25~~How painful are honest words {dabar}! What do your arguments prove? {Note: Means that Eliphaz's great doctrinal dissertation was correct. But how does it apply to Job's situation? Eliphaz's application of doctrine was all wrong!}

Do you mean to correct what I say(?) . . .
27~~You
would even cast lots for the orphans/fatherless,
28~~But
now be so kind as to look on me;
29~~Relent,
please/'I pray you', Reconsider, for my integrity is at stake. 30~~Is there any wickedness on my lips? Can my mouth not discern malice?
