Job

Chapter 11
{Chapters 4-14: The First Debate}
{Chapters 11-14: Debate with Zophar Continues -
  In Blind Arrogance Zophar Thinks He is Never Wrong}

{Verses 1-12: Zophar says God is Right - You (Job) are Wrong}
1-2~~Then replied Zophar the Naamathite, and said, 2~~
"Are all these words {dabar} to go unanswered?

Is this talker {Job} to be vindicated?

3~~Will your idle talk reduce men to silence?
  {in this, Zophar is prophesizing his own end but he does not know
  it}

Will no one rebuke you {Job} when you mock?

4~~You {Job} have said {to God},
'My doctrine/beliefs are flawless,
and I am pure in Your sight.

{Note: Job was a mature believer and he said he was Walking in the Righteous Way of God. This statement by Job offends greatly his 'friend' Zophar because in his self-righteousness, he assumes Job had to sin to receive such testing/suffering.}

5~~But how I wish that God/'Elowahh would speak,
and open His lips against you {Job}.

6~~That He would disclose to you
all the secrets of wisdom,
for true wisdom has two sides!
  {a self-righteous person says wisdom has two sides - God's side
  and my side! And, they are the same! funny and tragic at the
  same time}

Know this, that God/'Elowahh has even forgotten some of your sins!
  {this self-righteous man is still saying Job is being punished for sin!
  He does not have the facts yet judges his friend as sinful! HE is
  the sinner - arrogance and judging}

7~~Can you fathom the mysteries of God/'Elowahh?

Can you probe the limits of the Almighty?

8~~They are higher than the heaven, what can you do?

They are deeper than the depth of the grave,
what can/do you know?

{Note: Zophar was a self-righteous moralist and sloppy with his intake of doctrine. Job knew more correct doctrine then Zophar, but Zophar was saying 'what do you know?' Typical.}

9``The measure/'cloth of this' . . . {is} longer than the earth,
and broader than the sea.

10~~If He comes along and confines you {in prison},
or convenes a court together, then who can oppose Him?

11~~Surely He recognizes/knows deceitful men?

And when He sees evil/wickedness also, will He not take note of it?
  {implying Job is an evil man}

12~~A witless person can no more be wise,
then a wild jackass's colt can be born a man.

{Note: A self-righteous person ends up describing himself without knowing it!}

{Verses 13-20: Zophar says Job Must 'Get Right With God'}
13~~Yet if you will just turn your heart/'right lobe' to Him,
and stretch out your hands to Him.

{Note: Self-righteous communicators always have an 'altar call'. A 'get right with God' gimmick. Invite Christ into your heart type stuff. It is FAITH that saves.}

14~~If you put away 'your secrete sin'
  {Idiom: literally 'the sin that is in your hand'},
and allow no evil/wickedness 'into your life'
  {Idiom: literally 'dwell in your tent'}.

15~~Then you will lift up your face without shame.

And you will stand firm without fear.

16~~You will surely forget your trouble.

Recall it only as waters gone by.

17~~Life will be brighter than the noonday.

And darkness will become like morning.

18~~You will be secure, because there is hope.

You will look about you and take rest in safety.

19~~You will lie down, and none shall make you afraid.

And may will court your favor.

20~~But the eyes of the reversionist/wicked will fail,
and there will be no escape for them.

And their hope/confidence shall be
'the expiring of the soul' {a dying gasp}.

{Note: RBT says this means reverisionist have no hope/confidence in time (do not weep as those who have no hope) - but to die the sin unto death and then all believers eventually go to heaven (before the cross, they went to Abraham's bosom first). Only in eternity future will mixed up believers finally understand.}
