Job

Chapter 19

{Chapters 15-21: The Second Debate}

{Chapters 18-19: Second Debate with Bildad Continues
  with Job's Response}

{Job is Getting Spiritually Stronger}
1~~Then Job answered and said, 2~~
" How long will you torment/vex me/'my soul',
and crush me with words?

3~~Ten times now you have reproached me.

Shamelessly you have attacked me.

{Job's 'Why don't you Mind Your Own Business' Verse}
4~~If it is true that I have gone astray,
my error remains my concern/business only.

{Job Makes a Wrong Turn}
5-6~~If indeed you would exalt yourselves above me
  {deep down these men were happy to see the fall of Job -
  they were jealous of Job and lusted for all that he had.}
and use my humiliation against me
- and you are {a true premise}- 6~~
then {but a false conclusion by Job in his REACTION}
know that God/'Elowahh has wronged me,
and drawn His net around me.

{Note: This is a very common mistake. We REACT against the self-righteous pious ninnies. In our reaction, we say things that we do not mean and are not true.}

7~~Though I cry, "I have been wronged."

I get no response.

Though I call for help . . . there is no justice.

8~~He {God} has blocked my way so I can not pass.

He has shrouded my path in darkness.

9~~He has stripped me of my honor/glory.

And, removed the crown from my head.

{Note: Still, Job is out of sync. You do NOT lose your honor when you lose everything else. Only YOU can lose/'give up' your own honor.}

{Job's Errors Continue}
10~~He tears me down on every side until I am gone.

He uproots my hope like a tree.

11~~His anger burns against me.

He counts me among His enemies.

12~~ His troops advance in force.

He builds a siege ramp against me
and a camp around my tent.

{Note: Job is erroneously saying God is using these 3 friends to make Job's life miserable. But He is not, the men are providing the misery from their own old sin natures - jealousy, envy, pride, vindictiveness, etc.}

13~~He has alienated my brothers from me.

My acquaintances are completely estranged.

14~~My kinsmen have gone away.

My friends have forgotten me.

15~~My guests in my house and my servants count me a stranger.

They look on me as an alien.

16~~I summoned my butler, but he does not answer . . .
though I beg him with my mouth.

17~~My breath/spirit {ruwach} is offensive to my wife
  {idiom meaning 'my wife hates me' (no woman can stand bad breath
  in a man)}.

I am loathsome to my own brothers.

18~~Even the little boys scorn me.

When I appear, they ridicule me.

19~~All my intimate friends detest me.

Those I love have turned against me.

20~~I am nothing but skin and bones.

I have escaped with only the skin of my teeth
  {all I have left are my gums}.

{Verses 21-22: Personal Appeal to His Former Friends}
21~~Have pity on me, have pity on me, my friends.

For the hand of God/'Elowahh has struck me.

22~~Why do you pursue me as God/'El does?

Will you never get enough of my flesh?

{Note: The answer is no they will not. Hidden arrogance is a terrible thing.}

23~~Oh that my words were recorded!

That they were written 'on a scroll'/'in a book'!

{Note: RBT says that little did Job know but his friend Elihu was listening and did record these words. They have now existed for 4000 years. The book of Job is the oldest book of the bible.}

24~~That they were inscribed with an iron tool/pen and lead . . .
or, {engraved} in a rock forever!

{Job Understands the Cross and Resurrection}
25~~I know that my redeemer lives {1st Advent of Jesus Christ}.
 {a redeemer is someone who dies for the sins of the world}

And that, in the end,
He shall stand upon the earth
  {now referring to the Judgement Day of Christ}.

{Job Understands His Own Personal Resurrection Also}
26~~And after my skin 'has been destroyed',
yet, in my flesh, I will see God/'Elowahh.

27~~I myself will see Him . . . with my own eyes . . .
I . . . and not another . . . how my emotions/kidneys {kilyah}
yearn within me.

28-29~~If you say,
"How we will hound him {Job},
since the root of the matter/trouble
lies in him, 29~~
you should fear the sword yourself
  {the 'sword' here is the 'sin unto death'}.

For wrath will bring punishment by the sword,
and you will know that judgment is a reality."
