Job

Chapter 33
{Chapters 32-39: Decision of the Judges}
{Chapters 32-37: Decision of the Human Judge -
  Elihu's 1st Speech/'Legal Opinion' Continues}
1~~"But now Job, please/'I {Elihu} pray you',
listen to my words.

'Pay attention to everything I say'
  {literally 'hear, listen, and obey' {shama`} to all my words/'doctrinal
  communications' {dabar}'}.

2~~I am about to open my mouth.

My words are on the tip of my tongue.

3~~My words/'doctrinal communications' {dabar}
come from an upright heart/'right lobe'
  {idiom meaning from his personal integrity}.

My lips sincerely speak what I know.

{Elihu's Dissertation on the Origin of Life - Correct Biblical Viewpoint}
4~~ The breath of God/'El
  {ruwach - means spirit, breath, wind - here RBT says means
  breath}

has made/manufactured me
  {`asah - manufacture out of something else} . . .

and the 'spark of life' from the Almighty . . . gives me life
  {n@shamah - ('na'-Sha-maaaa) means the 'spark of life' - see
  Genesis 2:7}.

{Verses 5-7:Elihu Prepares Job for his 1st Opinion}
5~~Answer me then if you {Job} can.

Prepare yourself even to confront me.

6~~I am just like you before God/'El.

I too have been taken/'pinched out' of the clay.

7~~No fear of me should alarm you.

Nor should my hand be heavy on you
  {in other words I am not going to be like your friends - supposedly
  to console you, but instead judging you}.

{Verses 8-11: Elihu Quotes Job's Inconsistencies}
8-11~~You {Job} have said in my hearing . . .
I heard your very words, 9~~
"I am pure and without sin.
I am clean and free from guilt. 10~~
Yet, He {God} has found fault with me {Job}.
He considers me His enemy. 11~~
He fastens my feet in shackles.
He keeps close watch on my Ways/Paths."

{Note: Job has said this AFTER his evidence testing began and he was wrong when he did so. The 'patience of Job' is a myth. In James 5:10-11, it should read the 'endurance of Job'. Job endured the suffering but he did not do so patiently. The phrase should be the 'patience of Elihu'. Elihu waited patiently for his elders to speak first.}

{Verses 12-13: Elihu Recognizes the Silence of God in Evidence Testing}
12~~But I {Elihu} tell you . . . in this {verses 10-11 statements} . .

you {Job} are not right . . . for God/'Elowahh is greater than man.

13~~Why do you complain to Him . . .

that He answers none of man's words?

{God Reveals Himself in Many Ways Other Than Words
  (in Pre-Canon Period - He did Reveal Himself to Man in Dreams,
  Visions, Etc.)}
14~~For God/'El does speak . . . now one way . . .

and now another . . . though man may not perceive it.

{Ways God did Communicate before the Completed Canon of Scripture - Dreams}
15~~In a dream . . .

in a vision of the night . . .

when deep sleep falls upon men . . .

as they slumber on their beds.

{Verses 16-18: Audio Communication - (Verses 17-18: Providential Preventative suffering)}

16-18~~He may speak in their ears . . .

and terrify them with warnings . . . 17~~

to turn man from wrong-doing . . .

and keep him from pride . . . 18~~

to preserve his soul from the grave {from the sin unto death} . . .

his life from perishing by the sword.

{Verses 19-22: Third Way God Speaks Is Through Suffering -
  (Punitive Preventative Suffering)}
19~~Or a man may be chastened on a bed of pain . . .

with constant distress in his bones . . . 20~~

so that his very being finds food repulsive . . .

and his soul loathes the choicest meal.

21~~His flesh wastes away to nothing.

And his bones, once hidden, now stick out all over his body.

22~~His soul draws near unto the grave.

And his life . . . to the 'messenger of death'.

{Verses 23-25: Elihu's Dissertation on the Theophany (Revelation of God)}
33:23-25~~Yet if there is an angel {mal'ak} on his side
  {the angel on his side is Mal'ak 'Adonay - the angel of Jehovah -
  Who is Job's defense attorney in heaven in this court room scene
  where Satan accuses Job and God permits the suffering of Job
  as 'evidence testing' (note: Jesus in resurrection body is our
  defense attorney today - I John 2:1)}

as a mediator {luwts} . . .
  {see Hebrews 8:6 we have Jesus Christ as our Mediator in heaven
  today}

one out of a thousand . . .

to tell a man what is right for him . . . 24~~

to be gracious to him and say,

'Spare him from going down to the grave.

I have found a ransom for him . . . 25~~
  {the ransom is described in the New Testament - the blood of
  Christ - the ransom that cleanses from all sin}

then his flesh is renewed like a child's . . .

it is restored as in the days of his youth
  {in context, this is restoration to fellowship here}.

26~~He prays to God/'Elowahh and finds favor with Him.

He sees His {God's} face and shouts with joy . . .

for He will cause to return man to His righteousness
  {idiom meaning when we confess our sins to God, He forgives those
  sins and purifies us from all unrighteousness and therefore we are
  back in fellowship with God - this will happen to Job once he
  rebounds}.

27~~The he comes to men and says,

'I have sinned and perverted what is right . . .

but I did not get what I deserved.'

{Note: This is his testimony to other men, not his rebound here}.

28~~He redeemed my soul from going down into the pit/grave,

and I will live to enjoy the 'Light {of His love}'.

29-30~~ God/'El does all these things to a man . . .

twice . . . even three times . . . 30~~

to turn back his soul from the grave . . .

that the Light of life may shine on him.

{Note: In other words, a believer who is advancing should have been taken out of this life by the sin unto death. But for the believer who keeps advancing it won't happen - that is the Grace of God.}

31~~Pay attention Job,

'and listen to me'/'hear, listen, and obey me' {shama`}.

Be silent and I will speak
  {Job is probably mumbling like he wants to talk now}.

32~~If you have anything to say, answer me
  {saying don't just mumble Job - say it if you have something to
  say}

speak up . . . for I want you to be cleared!

33~~But if not . . .

then you 'listen to me'/'hear, listen, and obey me' {shama`} . . .

be silent . . .

and I will teach you doctrine/chokmah/'divine viewpoint' {chokmah}."

{Note: Principal: You can not TALK and LEARN at the same time! Shut up when another person is talking and concentrate on what THEY are saying - if you want to learn anything.}
