Job
Chapter
35 {Chapters 32-37: Decision of the Human Judge - Elihu}
{Elihu's
4 Speeches/'Legal Opinions' - 1~~Elihu continued his discourse, and said, 2~~ "Do you think this is just . . . when you said, 'I will be cleared by God/'El?' 3~~Yet you {Job} ask Him {God}, 'What profit is it to me? And what do I gain by not sinning?'
{Verses
4-8: Elihu Addresses Job and His 3 Friends - Morality/Immorality Not
the Issue} 5~~Look up at the heavens and give it a good stare. Gaze at the clouds so high above you. 6~~ If you sin, how does that affect Him {God}? If your sins are many . . . just what does that do to Him {God}? 7~~If you are righteous . . . what are you giving Him? Or what does He receive from your hand? {Note: How does any believer 'improve' the situation for God? Good question!} 8~~Your evil affects only a man like yourself. And, your righteousness only affects mankind/'the sons of man'. {Note: Elihu is saying the morality or immorality of the believer does not affect God - either to injure Him or to benefit Him. ALL four are forgetting the characteristics of God in this debate. Job was blaming God and his friends in self-righteousness were judging Job to be a secret sinner. Morality affects man not God. Morality without virtue inevitably leads to arrogance and moral degeneracy. The emphasis in God's plan in all dispensations is virtue. And the source of virtue is not the 10 Commandments - that is morality. The source of virtue . . . comes from 'personal love for God'. To truly love someone you must first KNOW that person. To love God, you must know Who and What He is . . . and that only comes from the consistent intake of His Word - His Thinking - and the metabolization of His Divine Viewpoint into the norms and standards (conscience) of your soul. Then you apply His thinking to your experiences in life - that is true virtue.}
{Verses
9-11: Moral Person Turns to God for Relief Of Suffering} They plead for relief from the arm of the aggressor/'the powerful one'. 10-11~~But no one ever says,
"Where
is God/'Elowahh my Maker {?} . . . Who teaches more to us than the animals of the fields/land. And, makes us wiser than the birds of the air.
12~~He
{God} does not answer when they cry out 13~~Indeed, God/'El does not listen to their empty plea. The Almighty pays no attention to it.
14~~How
much less then will He listen
And
you must wait for Him.
15~~And
further, His anger never punishes And He does not take the least notice of evil. 16~~So Job opens his mouth with empty talk.
Without
knowledge, he multiplies words." {Note: Job was a mature believer when this cross-examination by Satan began. He remained a mature believer. But in striking out at the silence of God, he temporarily lost his virtue.}
