Joshua Chapter 15

1-12: Rest of the Story of Judah Getting Its Inheritance}

And their south border was from the shore of the salt sea,

And it went out to the south side to Maalehacrabbim,
4
From thence it passed toward Azmon,
5
And the east border was the salt sea,
6
And the border went up to Bethhogla,
7
And the border went up toward Debir
8
And the border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom
9
And the border was drawn from the top of the hill
10
And the border compassed from Baalah
11
And the border went out unto the side of Ekron northward

And the west border was to the great sea,

Caleb said, "He that smites Kirjathsepher, and takes it,

it came to pass, as she came unto him,

answered, "Give me a blessing; {Note: Othniel got a great wife. She was beautiful and smart. Without the water rights, the land was not worth much. Othniel comes up again in the book of Judges - he becomes one of the first judges/dictators of the land.}

Areas of the Land Not Conquered} {Note: They held out until David Conquered them. The Philistines had 5 cities on the sea coast. They were not conquered. Third, the Canaanites in the valley of Jezreel (also called Izdralin (sp) then and called Armageddon today) were not driven out - they were trouble in the book of Judges. Fourth, in Tyre and Sidon. These four areas are the Subject of the book of Judges - the book of apostasy. They are covered in Judges 3:1-7.}
