Job

Chapter 26
{Chapters 22-31: The Third Debate}
{Chapters 25-31: Third Debate with Bildad}
{Chapters 26-31: Job Responds in a long Rebuttal}

{Job Says You do Not Comfort a Person In Suffering By Calling them A Maggot and a Worm}
1-2~~But Job answered and said, 2~~
"How you {Bildad} have helped him who is powerless {Job}.
  {sarcasm - calling him a worm did not help Job at all!}

How you have saved the arm of the feeble.

3~~What advice you have offered
to one without wisdom {sarcasm continues}.

And what great insight you have displayed.

4~~Who has helped you utter these words?

And, whose spirit spoke from your mouth?

{Note: These men have been speaking from their own self-righteous arrogance. Their doctrine has been fairly straight, but their application horrible. They are vile and despicable in their judging and maligning of Job.}

{Job Speaks of God In Terms of Respect}
5-6~~The dead are in deep anguish. . .
those beneath the waters . . .
and all that live in them . . . 6~~
death/hell/Sheol {sh@'owl} is naked before Him {God} . . .
destruction lies uncovered.

7~~He {God} spreads out the northern skies over empty space.

He suspended the Earth over nothing.

{Note: Job's understanding of the Earth was so much better then those in the Middle Ages who believed the Earth was just a chunk of land and if you go off the end, that is it.}

8~~He wraps up waters in clouds.

Yet the cloud's do not burst under them/'under their weight'.

9~~He covers the face of the full moon,
spreading His cloud between it.

10~~He marks out the horizon on the face of the waters
for a boundary between light and darkness.

11~~The pillars of heaven quake . . . aghast at His rebuke.

12~~By His power, He churned up the sea.

 By His wisdom, He cut up the proud
  {referring to the ancient armies of Egypt}.

13~~By His breath/spirit, the skies became fair.

His hand pierces the gliding serpent.

14~~And, these are but the outer fringe of His ways/works.

How faint the whisper we hear of Him.

Who then can understand the thunder of His power?"
